I heard this song on the radio promoting the Fighting album - I bought the album and was disappointed this track wasn't on it!! Love this song (B-side of Rosalie); Phil knows what he's singing about...
No, that song's called "Junktown Reggae" It's from his side project. It's on a soundtrack from an English 80's movie. After years of searching, I finally found it here on youtube. Great song.
yea, your so damn right ..i love that solo :)) if you want, go in my channel .. there u find a thin lizzy guitar solo compilation. nice day bro .. every lizzy fan is my brother ..yes .. ;))
Lynott is Irish end of story (he's also black Brazilian due to his father), he's half Irish by heritage and you get loads of yanks saying "I'm Irish" even though they only have 25% Irish heritage and nobody questions them because they're white but when a half black half Irish person says it they look at him/her like "how?". Lynott's Irish, Paul McGrath's Irish, Samantha Mumba's Irish (due to the fact they're all 50% Irish), Thin lizzy is the most under rated band EVER
Yes, those two examples are nationalities, but they are also ethnicities. Please look up ethnicity, and then come back when you know what you're talking about.
ethnicity and nationality are seperate in definition. ireland is a nation, their ethnicity is caucasian. kenya is a nation, their ethnicity is negro. now, if two ethnicitys are mixed, that still does not make the country into which they were born have a distinct ethnicity.
An ethnic group is a group of humans whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage that is real or assumed. This shared heritage may be based upon putative common ancestry, history, kinship, religion, language, shared territory, nationality or physical appearance. Members of an ethnic group are conscious of belonging to an ethnic group; moreover ethnic identity is further marked by the recognition from others of a group's distinctiveness.

Caucasian, which is a race, is merely ONE factor that helps determine what ethnic group someone is in. Two caucasians could be in two completely different ethnic groups. Hell there's even a list of ethnic groups...and low and behold Irish and German are both on it.
So, wrong again asshole. But please, continue getting embarrassed.
lol okay proffessor. copy and paste knowledge. i use my own. race and ethnicity as terminology are interchangeable. please dont distinguish between the two when there is no distinction. my original argument was that nationality is not ethnicity. irish is a nation. not an ethnic or racial classifictaion, these are genetic classifications. ireland germany etc, are classifications of poltical or geographical boundaries. good day
Holy shit, are you actually serious? You might be the dumbest fucker I've ever seen.
I also relied on my own knowledge. This was prior before you shat all over it with your nonsense, and to reinforce MY OWN knowledge, I decided to post an expert definition, which of course totally agrees with what I've said all along. You, on the other hand, dismiss all the knowledge these experts in the social sciences have provided for us, and have chosen to use your own, nevermind the fact it's 100% wrong.
"I think 2+2=5, despite the fact mathmaticians have proven it to be 4, and fuck all the experts, I'm right. And fuck anyone who shows me any definition, proof, or example that completely blows my belief to hell, because books are wrong and anyone that uses them is stupid, and fuck it all I'm right because I said so."
Phil has a real soulful melodic voice here, a total contrast to the raspy early days, although I like that sound as well, it had a kind of Rod Stewart/ Joe Cocker quality and matched the songs perfectly
Thanks for posting this. I first heard it back in the 80's when a schoolfriend included it on a Thin Lizzy compilation tape and it really grabbed me. This song really shows the band's versatility.
Phil was the man he is the ultimate rocker he will be remembered by many dont argue here I am Irish have love and respect for the phil he is a living legend to me he represents The spirit of Ireland

"Big Smoke" here probably has a degree of dual meaning; but, historically, it refers to the city of London.

smoke it and hear this song, it brings you into heaven, the ultimate chill.
Long Live Phil !
