  • ubertrieben gut

  • very very!

  • This kid is surely talented, but not a fan of this particular arrangement. To busy and melody gets lost.

  • @thephatalien agree with you in melody matter only 20%, i think he sees the guitarplaying fastfwd , saltant , tituppy . I'm not refering at this particular vid. I love he's style

  • simply wonderfull

  • great cover. fucking genius guitar playing that is.

  • at 0:53 he's blatantly looking smug about the sick bounce he made at 0:49

  • am i I the only one who particularly doesn't not like this song?

  • A song that should not be played that way for sure!!

  • unglaublich!

  • oh no not another one! how many guitars am i gonna have to throw away?

  • Fucking incredible

  • Is that a Taylor? The song is originally a crazy song, so much chaos musically...he pulled it off w/ just one instrument, impressive.

  • @cestherrun its a MATON EBG808 in my opinion one of the best acoustic guitars ever made!

  • @vuesnat MATON? Never heard of it...I've never been too fussy w/ guitars. I think if you're a good guitar player, you can MAKE anything sound good :) Me on the other hand...I need more practice...so, that doesn't really apply to me so much, lol.

  • Am I the only person who doesn't particularly like this?

  • @Stophocles yes

  • @uuchoob There is always that dumbass who thinks they speak for everyone..

  • @Stophocles why ask the question if you don't like the answer. grow a pair.

  • @Stophocles The question was stupid

  • @Claytongp97 Go away 14 year old.

  • @Stophocles Im 14, thank you for letting me know.

  • Comment removed

  • @Stophocles Probably.

  • Too busy for my ears..though technically impressive.

  • I didn't realise just how shit i was on the guitar until I watched this..

  • I uh.. don't think I, uh, want to play guitar anymore.

  • As a musician I find this version just as good as the original if not better.

  • mind..... blown, i need new pants

  • nice! btw HEY what are you doing in andy's room??? :0

  • @ZeroALLEY Candyrat Studio?:P

  • @pontius21 lol yeah..XD

  • Anyone been able to figure out how this is tuned?

  • @Stophocles probably just standard

he doesnt like to use other tunings

  • class

  • I honestly wasn't really a Radiohead fan until I watched this video, then I really got into Radiohead. Bravo.

  • Orgasmic period

  • Wild stuff!

  • HOLY.... What guitar is that?

  • @garyhead22 its a maton.

  • HOLY SH1TF*!#JESUSGUITARMOLLYBATMANSTUFF

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY RADIOHEAD!

  • In reply to all those who used "Holy" in their sentence, I reply back with...Batman

  • HOLY MOLLY!

  • HOLY GUITAR!

  • is he welsh?OMGGGG UR MY TEACHERS COUSIN!!! SHE TOLD US ABOUT you!!

  • is he welsh?

  • 60 people are just jealous.

  • HOLY COW

  • HOLY SMOKES!

  • HOLLY SHIT

  • Ha! I wrote the 'Halfway To Hell' comment: #333. I must be cool.

  • wow what a guitarist. your style is so original. amazing! the tab for that must be so complex

  • I wish i was this good with an acoustic...

  • 2:32, I just crapped my pants, nice work dude.

  • how the hell can there be 56 dislikes of this video? No wonder mankind is doomed.....surely anybody can appreciate the thought, creativity, class. musicality and effortless skill which went into this performance . Morons.

  • @blackdogteeth They're probably among the Lil' Wayne set. I just finished bashing HIS 'skills' as a guitarist on another post. There's no accounting for taste, as the saying goes, but you make the point well: HOW could someone other than a cynical antagonist not like Gareth Pearson's playing? Even if the specific song is unfamiliar or just not to one's preference, no dislikes should be registered against this dude. He's just too good to fault.

  • Is a tab available for this yet? I'd love to "attempt" to learn this.

  • I'm reminded of a line from an Eagles song: "God smiles on some and lets the rest go free".

  • Hey Gareth! Your show in Portland last night was out-of-this-world awesome. ( I came out and talked to you after your set ) May I suggest you have someone videotape your current live rendition of Billie Jean. It deserves to be seen.

BTW, I have two beautiful daughters; you may ask for either's hand in marriage.

  • who is disliking this what the fuck

  • @ddvs2012 There is not a performance on Candyrat unworthy of approval, so anyone disliking the superlative content here must be a genuine, patented fuckstick who hasn't experienced a bowel movement in more than a week. To quote the composer Sibelius: "No one ever erected a statue in honor of a critic." I'm a tremendous fan of music in general, with a deep affinity for fingerstyle acoustic guitar. I am astounded by the number of stellar players I have 'discovered' here. This kid rules -- PERIOD!

  • @theoriginalbillholt i know right go and put on a drake cd losers

  • holy fucking shit balls...that is all

  • @enjoitheworld416 I don't often laugh aloud at posts. I am at yours, and I agree wholeheartedly.

  • awesome

  • What guitar is that? I really love that sound

  • I'm In the process of learning this song, I'm going to learn this version, painstakingly note for note, the harmonics you throw in there are brilliant...

  • you genius, mate!

  • holy banana crap, i had to change my pants twice, one for crapping in them, and once for peeing all over myself

  • @camachozac1997

Sounds like you need to see a proctologist.

  • @ruminator77

well actually i would only need to see him for my colon, rectum, anus, what about my bladder?

  • One of the most interesting covers ive ever seen, this is fantastic! bravo sir, i could watch this jazz all day long! :o)

  • i thought at 1:20 you were gonna start singing lol

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Omg, this is Ergo Proxy ending theme!

  • Good tek. But too fast learn to play with emotion not just technique. This is my problem too.

  • This is really great. Radiohead is one of those bands that is musically interesting, but still has mass appeal. The challenge of interpreting Paranoid Android as a chord/melody solo piece would be daunting to even the most accomplished jazz players. Gareth has not only met this challenge, he crushed it.

  • Comment removed

  • Im blown away by your excellent technique! and your guitar sound is brilliant!!What guitar is that??

  • Don't get me wrong, you're really REALLY good at guitar playing :O and i could only dream i'd be half as good as you

but in my honest opinion you totally ruined the song

  • A few parts of this sound a bit like Brad Mehldau's arrangement. Any inspiration from that version? Regardless, you've done an amazing job. I've enjoyed all of your posts.

  • this is guitar sex

  • I find it hard to decide what I should enjoy more: listening you play, watching your fingers owning that guitar or watching your facial expressions which go alongside the song. Musician in heart and kidneys, as the expression we use in the Netherlands is translated.

  • this song soo badass

  • THis blew my mind

  • Truly wonderful, thx)

  • The sound of that particular setup makes me think of Opeth at times.

Such as Throat of Winter youtube.com/watch?v=2nBeBhlwteE

or maybe a bit here youtube.com/watch?v=lk6Q4FpW-sY#t=3m04s

  • best arrangement of this song i ever seen!!

  • Comment removed

  • fab, gear...kinky...:)

  • this guy is magic

  • sick man. i would love to get the tabs for this.

  • when he pulls the string in a note at the beggining part just gives me the chills :D

  • GREAT arrangement! you really have what it takes.

  • Is a strange version of the song, I was just listening o a playlist and I couldn't recognize the song except for the "Rain Down" part and all of a sudden I realize that was Paranoid Android, seriously man, This make my day! You will forward this to Tom Yorke and his fellow partners, they will love it.

  • OMG dude! will u marry me aahahahahahahahaa just kidding! but like wowwww ur amazing! :D

  • hate radiohead, but love this =]

  • @TheHurricosLevel I don't understand the first 2 words you typed, haha.

  • There really isn't anything quite like your bare hands on a finely crafted instrument and making shit happen. This guy gets it.

  • @rickstoneybroke what defines a proper job? He seems to be doing his job just fine, I wonder about yours.

  • Rickstoneybroke is just kidding guys :P

  • the next tommy emmanuel.

  • @rickstoneybroke Who the hell would want a "proper" job when you can love and play music like that.

  • wow amazing.

  • the lick at 2:29 is eargasmic.

  • Unbelievable but a little dull... Sorry. All the guitar wizzards feel obliged to play a million notes/second. This is anti-Gilmouresque...

  • @antoinecdc The reason he needs to throw in a lot of notes is, because he is playing on ONE guitar what is played by a full band. If he simply played some chords, you might detect the general flow of the song, but what good is that? He is COVERING the song, and this is his interpretation of a great song by Radiohead. And besides, he isn't over doing it. It's just right! Feels just like the original! :)

  • This song is incredible I can't stop to listen it!!!

  • You are the One and only!

  • @VictorLooser that's exactly right man, he's jesus.

  • no mind! no spirit! no sensivity! Only a REALLY GOOD Technique, but you don't serve the track...

  • @piliaa Only women take spirit and sensitivity into consideration...Shut up and enjoy the music faggot.

  • @piliaa

    ur fuckd

  • ONLY YOU....Only you can play Whole of this song with Fingerstyle !

  • I was writing an essay until I found about this guy, the essay is on hold while I listen to every song he has.

  • I am 100% sure Thom Yorke is one of the 891 likes :)

  • Seriously, that bend near the start... WOW. I jizzed. I think I'm gonna sell my electric and amp just to get a nice acoustic.

  • Love it!!!

  • 2:31 - 2:43 ... i didnt think anyone could BE that good..

  • @futurfry yes...he is on fire ...

  • Nice stuff...great articulation...

  • holy smokes. very excellent arrangement, man. It's like you have a brain in each finger.

  • too awesome I hate you.

  • I see you Grinning

  • Sweet tone . Nice.

  • sorry fellas , this one isn't for me.

  • so feeling!it's so good!

  • fuck you guy

  • 2:31 i love it... nuff said.

  • @Cuorante Soooo good!

Just to let you know, there will be more Urban Echoes tabs coming very soon! I'll be sure to keep you posted! Peace and Luuuuurve <3

  • @garethpearsonmusic what kind of guitar are using in this video?

  • @garethpearsonmusic no, thank you for this! I had to settle for youtube out of brokeness :/

  • @garethpearsonmusic Is there a tab for this?!?!?!

  • @garethpearsonmusic Judging by your fingers on the guitar.. you must have typed that well fast!

  • @garethpearsonmusic

Dude. 8-string guitarist Nate Lopez here with the prince-esque logo....

Incredible playing last night at Hopmonk in Sebastopol. Totally inspiring. Hope to catch ya again soon.

    p.s.

your version of this is sick. have you heard pianist Brad Mehldau play this?

  • Chills. all I can say. He's in my town this weekend. gonna scrounge $ to see him then go to his course. IDC if I suck this is AWESOME

  • Please please please do a cover of Chinatown My Chinatown from Chet Atkins..

  • oh my...

  • LOVE that note bend.

  • Hi if you'd have responded by saying Gareth will be Appearing on Britain@s Got Talent I'd have been offended! He's too much talent for that, it broke my heart when I met Peter Green and saw what people who wanted him to be Beiber, although in 1969 he was bigger than The Beatles. Good to hear him play again, like him Gareth is a musician playing music irrespective of the instrument. Thanks

  • I'd like to hear him sing! Great guitar, but, how long can you just play the guitar solo before it ends up as just technique? Being Welsh he should at least try! I don't expect Aberyswyth, but, when you think of the voices from Wales then why not, Gareth?

  • @NAZGELL I think jimmy page is more popular then plant and he never sang(though i personally believe page is far more talented!). I dont discourage him to sing but Im against pushing innovative artists to change so they can sell. it is insulting not only to the artists but also to us people who have a better music choice than the bieber fans. well the good news for us is gareth got a job to arrange an MGMT single which became a hit(time to pretend). so i dont see him "ending up" anywhere yet.

  • @slaprakshas I hope he wouldn't become like Bieber! Peter Green sang and played & personally I think he was more talented than Page & Plant until the Industry destroyed him! I'm a musician so respect that no one should be forced into doing something they don't want to do! The X Factor proves that selling large amounts of PRODUCT is not success in an artistic sense. Good luck to Gareth & I hope he ends up wherever he wishes to be!

  • @NAZGELL well.. being another musician Im really glad that u understand the pain..!! apologies for doubting ur understanding also! and yes.. Im also under the spell of of Green and early Fleetwood! \m/

  • i like it, nice arrangement and the 6/8 feel works really well! there is just one little thing that bothers me when i listen to it, i keep noticing a wrong note in the melody - it should step straight from the Eb up to G (like C C D Eb G A Bb Bb? A G F E) whereas gareth plays through the F (like C C D Eb F G A Bb A G F E). if the chord at about 0:16 was an F9 instead of an F7 it would fix that up

  • Talk about a Welshman who walked up a hill and came down a mountain. This is some phenominal playing, truely an inspiration.

  • Haw??? your very good. i hope one day ill be as good as you.

  • what would the price of a Maton 808 be, it's the guitar he's playing on.

  • Great rendition of the song, thoroughly enjoyable.

  • AWESOME! Saw him play this song last weekend at Blueskies... Wicked

  • what a crazy chords :-D amazing

  • @redking15ca

The so called "crap" is probably his personallity, which true musicians add to any cover. What would be the point of playing a cover exactly the same? This guy has produced a fingerstyle acoustic guitar version of a Radiohead song which goes beyond just playing, there is emotion in the arrangement also. When you can produce something similar, maybe you will be signed by Candyrat. 5 stars

  • @phlr332 I wouldn't want to produce something similar.

It just seems speed up and puffed up to me.

yes his playing is good, but I don't like music for just the playing style... i like it for the MUSIC.

  • @redking15ca probably the main reason why he is signed to candyrat and you are not. another case of someone not wanting to produce something that they cannot.

  • @phlr332 Yes, if only I did covers...

if I just covered other peoples songs and made them "better" I would be signed by candy rat. boo hoo if only I did covers and not original music.

  • @redking15ca true artists take chances and use their own artistic impressions with covers and that is what makes this "cover" so different and unique. This is this artists impression of the tune. It would be great to hear what the guys from Radiohead think about it, BTW, this guy does his original music also, probably that is whay he is signed and you are not.........boo hoo

  • and i Jiiized in my paaants

  • that's what i'd call an ear-orgasm maker!

  • Heard this on Echoes last night. I could listen to this version forever. I bet an OK Computer acoustic cover album with this sort of arrangement would sell like hot cakes! (back when hot cakes sold really well)

  • Truly amazing

  • I . L.O.V.E. IT!!!!!

  • I hate you for being so good...

  • @SutilObvio hahaha, can you learn? ;)

  • 43 people who have seen this have no love of music.

  • what a great arrangement ! did he do it himself ? it's really hard to put this melody onto the chords on one guitar..

  • I nearly cried at 2:31 :)That was sooo good!

  • What I love about this guy, he has taken his roots and developed his own style in his playing and his arrangements. I can understand people thinking this is not exactly like Radiohead, but what I love is that he has put his own personality into the tune. It is no wonder that big name players like Akkerman and Emmanuel love this guy.

  • serious groovy skills love the style

  • omg michael cera! lol

    nice playing man.

  • This reminds me so much of Ergo Proxy's theme music.
