Pretty sweet man. Im thining of doing the same but leaving the concrete over the top and just using a small trap door for entry. I was planning on bracing it with I beams as I dug it out. Post some more on this so we can see what it looks like.
I've only watched up to this video so far but I have already subscribed and will watch the rest but I just wanted to say I'm jealous, I love what you've done so far and I'd like to get some more tips and questions answered.
I would look into a slidning type door for your bunker. With your folding doors if debris falls on top of it during a storm or what have you, you will then be trapped.
Ready to see a new video, and as far as taking video of you digging is actually the cool part. Do it in like 30 sec vids as you make progress. Lets get some supports up in there tho, that way we can actually see your finished product haha. I think some of the critics are right and i'd hate to see anything bad happen to you man. I have never built a bunker but do plan on buying a 12 diameter conduit pipe cost about 4k and having it buried 30 feet under ground. I like vids like these. thanks alot!
Air holes: Three pipes. One, routed to top of house disguised as a rain gutter. Another off in the backyard. And yet another going to bushes or another area. Allowed each one to be air-tight sealed, incase you discover that the air coming from one or more is contaminated.
its an extremely bad idea digging under a concrete floor, when your garage floor was poured it probably only receive mesh wire to prevent major cracking, concrete still cracks in releif cuts. the floor would need to be atleast 9-10 inches thick with a vast web of rebar to even think about supporting your shelter.
Well, It is now 2012. Can you finished your bunker @MRZombieVirus1 on time? Extermination by flooded, earthquakes, erruptions, etc. will be between 21.12.2012 - ??.01.2013 you know!
Hey peeps, I will be getting going on this project again. I am pretty much healed up. So, hopefully pouring the floor shortly. I will post something soon.
Im doing a bunker that looks alot like yours.. I got a question.. I been looking all over for a steel trapdoor and a frame like yours.. could you point me in the right direction, thx in advance. I will be following
Its nice that you are preparing but what if a earthquake so powerful happens that it caves the roof in? All of this is a posibility. I suggest seeking God and asking him for guidance. Humbling yourself and wanting God's salvation thru Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can truly save. Have a nice day
You may want to get a fan to blow some air into the hole soon. CO2 will settle in the bottom and concrete will also produce CO2 as it cures. Looks good so far. how much rainfall do you have? The dirt looks pretty dry.
dude ,you ain't gone deep enough yet ... mexcians did 50 feet down before coming under the boarder ,I would be worried about hitting the 15 foot mark before going lateral ,or can I have your MRE's after the cave-in ...Just remember ,you can think ,zombies can't ...
l think your bunker is awesome, and lt looks like your doing everything right so far. Keep up the good work, and l pray you never need it. l wish l had the space for this kind of project
Do you have rebar in the garage concrete floor out of curiosity? Unreinforced concrete as your ceiling could be a problem.
I like the idea of your bunker and it would make a fine tornado shelter. Make sure your escape hatch is in an area where a collapsed home would not block exit.
Also storing food below ground is great because of lower temperatures and they don't fluxuate much throughout the year. You will have to use something like Damp Rid to control humidity.
Looks great, how's it coming? When's the next video? As to the question of parking your car, your digging the opposite way right? I have thought about doing something like this but always wonder about getting a clean air supply that no one could block or mess with. Maybe an old stump for cover, or bushes. Any other ideas? The only other thing I could think of would be to have a pipe running far away from where I build hidden in the woods or something.
@orangenblueohio I have been injured so I have been taking a break. The back concrete wall you see in the hole is actually my lower level wall. So, there is fresh air on the other side. I plan on having two vent holes with some way of moving fresh air in and out of the bunker. No one will ever suspect the bunker.
@MrZombieVirus1 If you signed up to youtube, google or hotmail using your real identity then they know who you are, wear you are and now cause of your vids, they now know you have a bunker. Cool Bunker though, lol.
Do you never plan on parking a car in you garage again? And what are you gonna do, live under there for the next hundred years when shtf? I understand trying to be safe, but you your foundation walls in your home a relying on that dirt you are removing to hold them from caving inward, not to mention your garage floor in no spancrete and you way in hell would i park a car in there if you are digging under it.
When shtf it could be a natural disaster. Are you going to live underground in that thing for a hundred years till the atmosphere is safe? Figure, an earthquake or meteor could burn your butt underground and pollute the air too badly for any survival. I'm a prepper but don't understand the bunker thing with people. Who wants to be buried alive? Either way, good luck and hopefully your family and mine will survive. Blessings
My question is the wall that you are digging into, is that a load bearing wall? If so I would suggest that you think about putting at least one piller for support.
@1TacticalMedic Yes, I will be doing a short video slideshow shortly showing the framing etc. I think I am going to do cinder block walls with steel reinforcement instead of concrete, not 100% sure yet. I will decide after I put in the floor of the anti-chamber.
@MrZombieVirus1 I have been thinking I may buy a couple of those screw type jacks to run up to the concrete ceiling from the floor. Just to hel reenforce the garage floor that acts as the ceiling. How thick is for garage floor? 6 inch? As soon as I heal from this upcoming surgery it will be time to bust out the concrete saw and start!! Thanks for inspiring me.
Just watched your videos and have thought about doing the same in my garage. But I've got a question, how would you survive if someone wanted you out bad enough that they'd grab a garden hose to try and flood you out? Is the hatch waterproof and have you thought about that?
@DarkWoods100 Well, if water was still actually running I guess that could be an issue. Only a small amount of water could come through the hatch at a time. I believe if it got bad enough I would have to pop up out of the hatch and shoot the person doing it.
If you didn't notice, I have wires coming through the wall. When I am done, any electricity (if we have power) will be totally running through the walls.
@sxmulisha When I have the second room done, no one will be able to get past the first room without explosives. Also, if someone gets into the anti-chamber, and their goal is to steal my food and hurt my family, I will be setting them on fire with lighter fluid which will be squirted through a hole.
that looks so cool you inspire me alot to build something like that but how would you get light in there if a zombie were to chew the wire or trip on it and pull out the plug then you are left with no light source besides a non lasting flashlight?anyway agian sweet!!!!!
@Zeamus634 Why don't you just FUKK OFF. I don't have to explain myself to anyone, especially a dink like you. Is that all you can take from my video? That I say zombie? Why don't you grow up. There are some people who I think just go around and watch peoples videos to see what they can complain about. I hope you are the first to come and TRY to steal food from me.
@MrZombieVirus1 lol it's okay, don't worry about it. Most don't realize they are, in a sense, zombies already, blind to what is going on. I'm finding this fascinating, wish I had the means to do this myself. Learning from you as you go! Suggestion, have you thought about water proofing to prevent water seepage when it rains? looking forward to seeing you build the supports, too, don't wanna see you get bonged by concrete, hehe.

@therats2270 They are, each one has moved about 1400 lbs. I figure I have removed about 27,000 lbs. of fill. Time to buy new ones. The handles are starting to let go.
dont forget static earth pressure acting sideways out of those walls ie a hole always wants to collapse. some ply boards and cross braces would help yes a pain in the butt getting in the way but at least safe, dont know how deep garage foundations are, unlikely to be all that deep.
wow great do you have friend helping you or are you strictly kepping it in the family?also if you have kids it may be hard to keep secret, security must be a real issue can you make a vid and answer this and also tell us your motivation for doing this. i admire all the hard work you have done really impressed
