@NguyenEmpir3 Nope its because of the Parrot Bluetooth! It picks up as a phone so wont play through all speakers. Although I keep loosing a connection to use the usb ipod and the cd player. I think my wiring might need re-doing again :(
HEY, JUST A QUESTION, I HAVE AN IPOD WITH BLUETOOTH AND MY CELLPHONE, SO THE THING IS: CAN I USE AT THE SAME TIME BOTH DEVICES IN BLUETOOTH CONECTION? I MEAN, USING THE IPOD FOR LISTEN MUSIC, AND THE CELLPHONE TO MAKE OR RECEIVE A CALL?
this in Dash is great. Got one for x-mas and it works great. Crap ton of features and very fast as u can see. The sound quality is great and for those who like to tweak sound settings there are alot of options. Still dont know how to change the display :(. The mic works great and u can change the sensitivity to the mic so u dont have to yell when ur talkin on it...over all great.. would buy it myself. Never thought a sony deck would be that good. Last deck was an older pioneer.
@niggajones2009 There are times where the display becomes hard to read in direct sunlight; the clock is generally easy to read. Though the display tends to follow that of Sony's other multi-line units, so the text is small. I still think it's Sony's best single-DIN unit. The only thing I would change would be to have a rear USB connection and possibly more illumination options.
quick question...i plan to use this deck with my 32GB itouch. but im very interested in the opportunity to connect it wirelessly using the bluetooth option..is the quality the same?
@johnnyi27 I had it installed professionally. It really depends on how handy you are and the type of car you have. I hear that domestic cars are a bit easier than foreign.
@HighT3chDad i have found the opposite to be the case.. an odyssey like yours is ridiculously easy, the dash panel pops right off then its just 4 screws holding the brakets to the chassis and 4 screws holding the head unit to the brackets
@johnnyi27 Installing car stereos are very easy. Search for your car make and model on Google in regards to how to remove your old receiver. Installing the new one will require a wiring harness for your car and a soldering iron to connect it to the supplied wiring harness from your new receiver. If you buy from Crutchfield they will send you everything you need for free. Good luck, It's very rewarding to do it yourself!
Thanks for the great review. I'm currently evaluating which bluetooth headunit I should get to pair up with my iPhone 3gs.
Do you know if the head unit can do the play/pause/skip/next for bluetooth audio streaming? I know the iPhone supports that part of the AVRCP profile, but I didn't see it on demo.
I have heard that the BT stack that Apple is using is not the best. I haven't tried doing those sorts of controls on the Sony (I have tried with limited success with the Parrot - pause/play sort of works). It's more the Apple issue than the BT deck issue.
Thanks for demonstrating this unit. I am getting ready to buy one on eBay and wanted to see it in action before hitting the Buy It Now button.
There is one thing I wanted to point out: Xplod is pronounced "explode", the bar over the "o" is actually a grammatical tool to aid in pronunciation, telling you it is a long "oh" instead of a short "ah" sound. Yeah, I guess I am a grammar nazi, but I thought I would leave that tip for you.
Haha, yeah, I realized that much later. I, too, am stickler for grammar. Unfortunately, sometimes some of the products that I review are a bit odd in terms of their naming. It's a good unit, BTW.
@espeyswims Thanks I realize that...and if you had read down the comments you would have seen that someone else had commented about the same thing 3 months ago and I had responded to that comment as well (grin).
@yggdrasil89 and you can talk shit over YouTube...a real hard ass...And for your information I was not "bitching" as you say, I was just informing him, in case he did not know. Thank you for your time, oh wait I take that back, go fuck yourself, and keep your little cum guzzling mouth shut. Have a VERY nice day.
@espeyswims Rofl, I can't believe I'm reading such hypocrisy. The little boy is getting angry! :D I wasn't even pissed off I was just saying about how ungrateful you comment was. HAVE A VERY NICE DAY LOL I R TO BEING SARCASM!!1
@yggdrasil89 LOL you thought that was angry...I laughing like FUCKING crazy the WHOLE time I was typing that...and once more for good measure go fuck yourself.
And also, can you control the ipod from the cd player? Meaning, if I have my iPhone connected via bluetooth to the Cd player, can I pick and choose my songs while the iPhone is still in my pocket?
To fully control your iPod, you need to have it physically connected. That goes for song display as well as far as I can tell. When using BT streaming, you need to control what plays via your iPhone, at least until the BT stacks are improved to handle I believe.
Hey man... nice review. I'm looking at getting one of these.
On another note... I'm pretty sure Xplod pronounced like "explode"... see Sony's website and you should see a line over the "o" in the name... giving it the long "O" sound...
I was curious of seeing AVRCP 1.3 in action but the guy was dumb enough to use an iPhone with it. The iPhone does not support AVRCP 1.3. From all the Bluetooth audio source that exist on the market, he picked the one with the poorest bluetooth stack.
The "dumb" guy (me) who did the video only was able to use what he had available. Also, given the popularity of the iPhone, it is truly a real world test. Sorry I didn't satisfy you.
Ok, I am really sorry I said dumb. I don't really think you are dumb but I find it sad to demonstrate the new cool features of a the MEXBT5700U that can do neat stuff like display the titles of the song from a bluetooth source and not demonstrate it at the end only because you picked a lower quality source. It is like using a VCR to demonstrate a HDTV.
Thanks for the video Michael! Appreciate your review. Also for anyone watching here make sure to go to Michael's review.. he really did an extensive review.
Thank you for the review!!! Ive been wanting to buy this but i keep seeing reviews of people saying it does not work with the iphone, saying its too dim or too bright, i see it all work here from you. Awesome! Im sick of those people reviewing technology without knowing anything about it.

Do you know if it can display iPod 2g song information when you have it connected through Bluetooth?
greg12286 2 years ago
With the Bluetooth playback, I do not get any song information. You need to have a data cable (ipod connector) attached to get song info I believe.
