i think the VQ has tons of room for tuning, for example bigger turbos, thats why they made it a TT and not V8, well also for weight reduction too but i doubt it can reach 1000+ hp like the rb26dett since the VQ is an aluminum block where as the RB26 was an iron one

GTR looks good, however the VQ engines dont promisse to much, the r34 and r33 were awesome, the power of the engine was pure fear for the driver, and it defines tunning, so, i think they should make a 5.4 v12 engine, just 2 2.7v6 togheter : ), like the veyron did.
