  • Guys, Its not chive as in chive onion, its chive as in chivalry. SHIV damnit lol

  • do a reveiw on the kershaw scallion please i just noticed you dont have a reveiw on it

  • @88Josh66 No, I was thinking the same thing.

  • The Cyclone seems kinda similar to the tenacious or the resillience or is that just me?

  • the shallot is above the leek btw

  • @88Josh66 there is no leek here......

  • HES BACKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahh just kitting lol

  • On top of each other that's what she said

  • why does the door bell ring in all of your vids

  • @SuperRootbeer17 its not his doorbell, its a clock

  • Great knife!

  • All knife reviewers need to show some practical application of your collections, ortherwise you look like douche/chav's that just collect knives to look hard. I'm a beginer bushcrafter and I'm not impressed with the BS here on YT. Sorry.

  • @bikenutter1 And all the videos that you have taken the time to put up on your channel give you the right to tell other YouTubers how to post. :)

  • @Speedogg138 I don't need a "right", I have a phenomelogical opinion, and I'm making it.

  • @bikenutter1 And if you weren't such a dick about it, i.e. "I'm not impressed with the BS here on YT", then nobody would have said anything. :)

  • @Speedogg138 You don't like my opinion? Your winky shrink at the thought that someone is not imporressed that you're a closet mass murderer or used to be get beat up in school and started carrying knives to feel confident, don't get me started.

  • @bikenutter1 I'm not impressed by people that post grossly misspelled comments on YouTube, please fix it. :) Also, I certainly hope I am not a closet mass murderer, because knives aren't really good for that, my guns would do much better.

  • Got my first kershaw today at bass pro shop. A scallion! I think I paid a tad too much at $40 but that was the only way I could get it, no online for me... But I love the knife so far and it is very addicting just to open!

  • i have the laser cut kershaw and i love it

  • Dude i love that Cyclone!

  • That is a good blade shape and I would say it is reminiscent of the Spyderco leaf shape knives minus the hole. Say a Tenacious.

  • so every single knife (regardless) that is factory made, has a model number, and a name? sorry, i am still knew at this.

  • omg...knives O_O

  • lol jake mangina lol

  • my scallion doesn't even have speed safe, it has a different safety on the handle, is it real?

  • I just got my Kershaw Rake about a week ago and i loooooooove it, what a beautiful knife. Came very very scary sharp with the cpm d2 composite blade. It is alll belly slices like no other. I love your videos please review it cause it deserves recognition. Put a spartan helmet lanyard on it and wow what a beauty. I almost dont like to use it because its so pretty, so i carry a back up for most of my use lol.

  • man someone likes onions ;)

  • man someone like onions ;)

  • @cutlerylover hey jeff can u sell me your chive?

  • why doesn't anyone review case knives?

  • @edgybob1 Jeff does review "Case" knives, look through his vids ;)

  • im decideing on the chive or scallion which one should i get

  • I'm a big Kershaw fan but i never really warmed up to the blade shape of the Scallion and the Chive, They are sized to be used as EDCs but that curved belly and slim tip doesn't do it for me in that role at all.

Would probably work great in a large folder especially for military/tactical purpose since it has a nice sharp point to price armor and clothing and a large belly to do som heavy cutting, but for EDC I'll stick to the Skyline or Oso sweet (if we're just talking Kershaw models)

  • @ThrottleKnife i'm a big kershaw fan also WOOT WOOT GO KERSHAW!!! lol

  • i have that same scallion, got it at dicks sporting goods for $30 and was very impressed.

  • i plan to get the coated scallion soon, because it's cool, small so i could carry it when im old enough, and in my price range.

  • jake vagina hahaha

  • do you find that the speedsafe models or any of the spring assisted kershaws rattle when they are open? it doesn't really effect the performance, it just,.....rattles.

  • Hey Jeff, how did you make the lanyard on the cyclone?

  • Great review; I think I'll be picking up the Cyclone next.

  • i've owned the 1620st.. i just ordered a 1620h3. the cyclone looks awesome

  • call me a luck bastard, i found a chive on my counter lol

  • Great video. It would be great if you would do a review on the scallion if you haven't already.:)

  • Use a scallion with no serrations and plastic scales as my EDC. I love this thing. The blade takes an edge well and the one handed opening is a life saver at times

  • do you own a CS ak-47?

  • yes the scaillion has the speed safe on it cant trun it oof thowe Rhinoman45672 love the biger knife at the top and that shlod have the on off thing

  • i used to use my chive to shoplift back in the day lol

  • @xnickx29 i was 15 and stupid..never got caught though. thats actually how i got majority of the knives i have now. five finger discount at bass pro. lol

  • @xnickx29 lol im a little older than that i feel u man

  • do you collect them or do you just keep the ones you actually use ??? How do you collect knifes if you do ?? By Brand? By quality and price? or ... ?? everything you can get your hands on ~!? I personally like SOG and Spyderco brand. Jus because I am most familiar with them. I do not think I like benchmade because of their crazy high price.

  • @urkingod nowadays Benchmade is starting to manufacture junk it used to be well worth the price but now it's overpiced junk

  • ii think the wholes in the blade make the knife look so much better...

  • ever sharpen the chive could probably do it in 45 minutes

  • i just got this knife today and i love it BUT mine does not have the option to turn off the speedsafe feature. i have heard complaints that the on/off function is defective but i have not seen a strictly speedsafe version. i will test this knife but the fact that its not made anymore makes me think this design might not be all that great.

  • I have all the same knives as you --and find the Cyclone a bit clunky when it opens . I agree with your opinion that uts a good idea to have the speed safe disable.Should be on all the Kershaw knives.I still like it though.

  • I just got a scallion today. Model 1620H3(aka your black one) and I was wondering what the date on the back of the blade is for. My date is May 09. What is it for/ what does it mean???

  • @mountaindewhaha

    It was then

  • @mountaindewhaha It was (made) then

  • cool

  • Where did you get the lanyard for the cyclone?

  • I love my chive.

  • I have a kershaw model 1670RDST great knife

  • Comment removed

  • Where did you buy the one with the black blade?

  • Try Dicks Sporting Goods, i was there the other day they had it in silver, black, and zytel, they also had the benchmade pika II for 20 bux

  • you should get a kershaw leek

  • Kershaw Leek sucks! They feel so brittle in the hand. The Cyclone dominates.

  • @nedge46 he does

  • Can i have the knife thats a sample?

  • No.

  • i had that exact all black scallion and it was possibly the best folder i've had. Edge was razor sharp, tip was needle sharp, held an edge well, and SpeedSafe assisted opening with the little switch on the back is amazing (and fun to play with!)

  • love my scallion, I've been looking at the blur lately

  • Hello cutlery lover my name is Steve Waite i am a big fan of your videos i mean you are the beat at reviewing them i have some kershaw leeks 2 of them i have a lot of kershaw knives i just got some spydercos i fell your pain about the knives ban and stuff like that could you do a paper cut test with you kershaw leek and pick some of your own thank you very much have a really good day cutlery lover

  • Just got my cyclone today. Paid $38 including shipping on ebay. Love the bulkiness, fits well in the hand, well shaped and very sharp blade. Could use jimping on the spine of the blade itself. Absolutely no play in the blade whatsoever. Like it almost as much as my tanto blur.

  • were do u buy your knives from???

  • i love my chive

  • Kershaw rule

  • can anyone find this knifeXstream Air Cutter, 2008 model

  • this is the first time i've heard about a 'sample model' knife, sounds pretty fun

  • i Was wondering if the liner lock on the chive is very strong?

  • yes its strong......i just got the knife today and was suprised to see how much it took to push the liner lock to close the blade

  • i agree ive had it for a few months and its a great knive

  • i have a sharp chive- it has lasted me almost 5 years

  • soo jealous

  • the best comarison i can see to the cyclone

    is the storm 2

    so yeah

  • the screen name is pronounced

    jake ma keena

    so yeah

  • I contacted Kershaw about the problem with my Cyclone. They are sending me a new torsion bar, a new switch, and the torx bits to take it all apart. All for nothing. I gotta say, that impressed me. No instructions with it, but the rep I talked to said it was pretty easy, and after seeing cutlerylover's vid on how speedsafe works, I'm pretty confident. I'll comment after I try to fix it.

  • After seeing this video and a few others about the Cyclone I decided I really wanted one. It was back-ordered many places and I paid too much, but I finally got it. Loved it for the first 8 hours until I decided to check out the speed safe switch. Turned it back on and closed the knife it made a sickening snapping sound and you could tell the torsion bar didn't engage. I'm a bit leery of taking it apart with the added mechanics of the switch. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

  • ive had a cyclone since 2007, i use it every day. never heard of the problem. good luck figuring it out.

  • i love the blade shape of the chive and the scallion, is there a model that's bigger than the scallion. something like a 3" - 3.5" blade?

  • kershaw shallot, great knife, it's exactly what ur looking for.

  • I'd heard that Kershaw was discontinuing the Cyclone - either the serrated model or the Cyclone altogether. I've seen a few retail sites listing the cyclone as 'Supplier Discontinued'

Anyone know if there's truth to this?

  • great video, specially the comparo between the chive and the scallion.. i am looking to get a kershaw probably a leek.

  • dont go with a leek... look into the steels that are used in the blades of these knives. a leek doesnt hold an edge well

  • Before it was stolen, I had a scallion and liked it a lot.

My advice: use the safety lock.

  • would you reccomend a leek or a scallion?

  • I've owned both, and honestly I would say just pick the one that fits your needs. basicly the only major difference I could find between them was the size. (Scallion being the smaller). Both are good though. if you can I would say just go try both out and pick the one you like.

  • lol

  • they make a smaller model of the cyclone. ive owned many kershaw knives i love the brand but would stick with the cyclone at least.

  • Those chives are sharp!

    5/5 good vid man

  • does the scallion have speedsafe?

  • yes they all do in the series, the chive, scallion, and leek...

  • fantastic

in fact, because of this review, i think i may get the scallion.

    5*

  • @cutlerylover and shallot

  • @cutlerylover and shallot

  • very sweet knives. i love kershaws, i just bought a leek and i love it! ur right about it not being a heavy duty knife, but its very very sharp and i carry a messanger bag all the time with with a s&w bootknife in it for heavier duty needs. do u know anything about the kershaw junkyard dog series? if u have 1 cld u make a vid on it?

  • mine model 1600BB doesnt seem to have the speed safe feature...~

    am i doing sumthing wrong..??

  • hmmm...when you push the back does the blade just go a little bit or does it push open the rest of the way? if it doesnt work make sure the torsion bar is intact and not broekn, I ahve a video showign how the speedsafe works where I tak the knife apart...search cutlerylover speed safe...

  • does that scallion have a liner lock or a body lock? and also what is your thought on liner locks and body locks - do you have a preference or any thoughts on them... i have a chive and i love it and i am not sure what to get next as i am trying to get into knives. As of right now i am biased towards Kershaw, so staying in kershaw brand what do you suggest i get next?

  • im obviously not the guy that made this vid but all these knives have a liner lock, even the ti-lite. i prefer liner locks only when you have a good brand involved like gerber or kershaw. you can't really go wrong with a lockback though. i reccomend a leek. they are very nice. they will run you $40-$60. but its really good and sturdy. if you like the chive you will love the leek

  • hey, thanks for the advice!

  • That Ti-Lite is super sweet Jeff

  • I'm returning my full-size Cyclone for the mini-Cyclone version....The full-size feels ok, but reminds me of a meat cleaver rather than a pocket knife...It's a bulky, monster of a knife for an edc knife compared to a scallion or even a leek.

  • i love kershaw's serations they look sweet

  • Thanks to you, I want this knife!

  • Please can you make a review of Chive 1600BLK. I would like to order one via internet, but i just cant decide which finish to chose. I have Kershaw Avalanche coated, and is Chive all coated like Avalanche's blade?

    Thank you.

  • yes the coating on the chive model 1600BLK is the same coating they use on the avalanche...

  • how about handle? how would you describe handle finish in words?

  • well its smooth but not glossy more of a flat matte black, so it feels nice to me but has little grip, I dotn midnh ona little knife like this though...its an aluminum handle I prefeer the polymer actually, but Im not sure if they have a polymer version with the black coated blade though...

  • oh ok, thanks, u told me an important thing. i thought it had steel handle and not aluminum handle. i prefer steel handle.

  • i have the kershaw 1600, its a nice little knife.

  • great knives

  • you know anyone that's selling a chive anywhere? on bladeforums or online? =]

  • Not off the top of my head but you cna alays start a thread saying your lookign for one, so perhaps someone who wants to sells their can contact you...

  • Just go to Wal-Mart. I just picked up one for my mom,I got it for $37 but I'm in Hawaii so stuff costs a bit more here.

  • do you have any buck knives? i heard that they make good knives, and i wanted to find out if i should buy one.

  • Most of the Buck knives are worth the money for sure, thew only model I own right now is a Buck 112 ranger which I have a video on, its a smaller version of their famous model 110...

  • is the 112 good as a utility knife, or is it only good as a hunting knife?

  • both the 110 andd 112 are excellent all aroudn knives as logn as you dotn mind the weight of them...if you cna carrya heavy knife like that yes, these can do all the cuttign tasks you woudl need...

  • I love the chive so much. Its my fav knife, it gots a the one with the black blade , and blue and black handle, i have one complaint though.. Its blade steel isnt that great. I wonder if its possible for me to have some one make a blade for it.. sweet knifes i love kershaw..

  • Yeah the kershaw chive, scallion, and standard leek all have softer steels, but thats why they are cheaper knives, materials reflect price...

  • whch one would you choose the cyclone or sog twitch xl

  • tough chpice, I like the feel of the cyclone and the fact I can turn off the assisted openign mechanism...so I woudl pick the cyclone, but the twicth XL IS very nice...

  • HEY i have that same scalloin!! chck out ym vid!

  • Ok, I will!

  • you should sharpen the chive

  • I thought about it, but I lie the fact its a counter display modle instead, if I want a usable chive Ill just buy it, you cna find them used on the forusm from time to time for like $20...

  • how much is the ti-lite and where did u get it

  • hey i really like the cyclone when you get back from vacation and i was wondering if the ti-lite was worth buying

  • the Ti-Lite has it's flaws, but it's still worth buying, I might make a review video of it, or you can just watch Cutlerylover's

  • its jake machine

  • I am assuming that it's Jake-mah-kee-nah as in deus ex machina. But I ain't Jake, I just give him credit for being literate.

  • yea ur right ha i dont know anything about ebay thnks

  • No problem...I us to spend ALOT of time over there looking for knives but I don;t liek it much anymore and rarely visit anymore...

  • i saw on the kershaw website that theres a chive w/ a really cool blueish handle and i like it but i aslo want to use it but im afraid it will b too small do u think its worth the 20$? and if not do u think it will b worth more to get a scallion for i think like 15$ more (ps i mean just a strait edge not a half serated)

  • I feel the chive is worth it, but I prefer the scallion cause its a touch biger, still a good small knife, but more comforatbl in the hand than the chive...

  • sry i checked the website after i posted that and the chive was atcually 35$(it said i would save 20) and the scallion was 40 but i found a scallion on ebay for 30 on buy it now

so i was just wondering wat i should do now(i dont know if im still gonna get it since i just bought a jaguar bali)

  • Ahh, well you will be happy with either one, get what you can afford...

  • i bought the green skallion on ebay(the one on buy it now) and i bought it as a guest(cuz i dont have an ebay account)and then i looked at ebay again and the knife was still up there do u know y

  • If the seller had more than one avaliable it would stay up there until the quantity was out, look again and see how many are available...

  • you should use some steel wool to take off the "sample not sharp" and sharpen it

  • I thought about it, but I have no need for this chive to use, so I like how its just a harder to find store model...Might sell it down the road...or trade it to a Kershaw collector...

  • You should get the Kershaw Blur

  • I considered it before, just wantd other knives more...But who knows what the future holds...

  • Love the review - I want a Cyclone and a Scallion now! :-) Quick question - what did you say you sharpened the cyclone with to get the mirrored edge like you did?

  • Oh, I used an edgepro apex sharpening system with the poloshing tapes, which are really just stickers with a very fine grit on one side that poloshes the metal without any type of compound or liquid besides water....

  • where did you get that black scallion!!!

  • I got it in a trade with another knife guy, I am not sure where it is sold these days? Sorry man...

  • Befor i bought a chive i was looking for that scallion, just google it , u will find it...

  • If your talking about the Scallion with the laser etched Kershaw on the side walmart carry's them for about $35.

  • check out my vids i have like 4 knife vids out of 5 of my vids

  • Ok cool, Ill check them out, thanks!

  • The pivot pin in your Cyclone is different than mine... huh, thats weird, oh well lol, did i tell i ordered the Blur?, i probably did, i told every body lol. Peace dude :)

  • Yeah, you gotta let us all know how you liek it when it arrives! As for the pivot pin, how is it different? Is yours silver instead of black? Just wondering...

  • oh yeah i will!, and never mind I'm a dumb ass lol, it looked different cause i can see yours, i cant see mine cause of the pocket clip, i just notest that yours dose not have a pocket clip lol.

  • Ohhh...It does but I switched it so that I can use the lanyard I added to it...I did switcvh it to a different position...So at 1st it woudl different..haha...

  • You should check out the kershaw tyrade. The knife has the sandvik steel welded with D2 steel.

  • Yeah there was a thread on that over at knifeforums, the guy wanted to know who used their, lol, since it is kind of collectible...Its a great look and a good idea, you have the softer steel for the blade to flex a bit but that hard D2 edge for prolonged edge retention...Very nice knife!

  • You should show the kershaw tyrade. The kife has 2 steels welded together. Pretty Gnarly lookin.

  • great reveiws as always i live in england and knife laws are very strict wonderin what therelike where u r

  • Well here in the US the knife laws differ between states, but for the most part many of the states have lots of knife restrictions, but not as bad as over in the Uk from what I hear...In my state PA, I am allowed to carry any size knife I want folder or fixed but I hav
