How do you dodge enemy rockets? Pro players always take me down the moment i fly over their heads.I try to keep my heli moving but it doesn't help much.
In my opinion, you should have a smart gunner. A guy who know what is best for the heli. If your gunner man shoots at the enemy helicopter, it only take like 2 - 3 rounds. But most likely you''ll get a dumb ass as a co-pilot who is only focusing on the ground units....
BTW a GREAT! practice for flying is to start a onslaught game, you host it play the atamaca desert map and get into the heli and fly tight circles around the beginning circle of flairs without going out. I spent a couple hours doing this now I fly tight circles so fast, im pissing off crazy ass level 50's :) Also, if you land on the AA guns real fast, it will destroy them and kill the guy in it. So stay low, come up on the AA gun, pop up and land :)
@xXCreativistXx So what is the glitch? I know simetimes when I get landed on my chopper flips over but I didnt know I had to be in a certain chopper.... please do explaine more :)
If both people in the attack chopper have Alt W, then you can trace and hellfire enemy tanks and even choppers, you can only lock within a certain range (but don't wait for distance numbers in chopper they don't show).
sounds SOO like microsoft flight simulator lol good job but i'm having difficulty cos i'm on PC. i do pretty good with transport helis but for the attack helis controlling the roll and pitch while aiming for targets with a mouse seems impossible!
Wow im new to Battlefield and playing on the PC but you Tutorials helped me to get better with the helicopter, my first try to fly ended after about 5 seconds.

i am disappointed... I need a more advanced tutorial lol. Like how to attack helicopters. Depending on the altitude you will fire up or down from the crosshairs... but when a chopper is spinning and changing altitude it can make it very difficult. but it looks like you fly just about the same as I do so maybe you are not pro at this yet...???
@skystruck13 Heli-to-heli fighting is a difficult subject to teach. Most arial battles are fought at a good distance, against a small silhouette of a target, moving in all directions with no point of reference for actual direction of movement. Both pilots tend to fly to the ceiling of game play trying to get above the other heli, and aiming with the rockets is a guessing game because they are so slow (with your only referance for distance being the size of your enemy).
@skystruck13 Here is my advice. 1) Have a gunner: Cannon ammo travels much faster than the rockets and is more accuret in hitting another Heli at a distance. Your enemy will probably have a gunner and will kill you if you dont. 2) Close the distance: Heli battles tend to stay far apart, as neither pilot wants to expose himself as a larger target. Gather the enemy's firing patern, get closer while he reloads, and increase your chances of landing some rockets.
@skystruck13 Also, your aggressive advance freaks out most pilots, causing them to back up and out of bounds. Once they travel out, they will be forced to return, exposing themselves for an easy kill. 3) Have Big Balls: Feel like taking a risk, all or nothing? Close your distance, save your rockets. Time your attack and wait for your enemy to reload. Then quickly drop altitude, fly under him, pitch up and blast his belly before he can fire again. 4) Practice: Only you can make you good.
@wunkus thats a good idea, close the distance drop and fire below. I have had a dozen or so heli battles since I changed my controls to battlefield 1 controls and it's a lot easier to aim steady and spin. I feel like I got twice as good over night with my controls like this. I am able to almost fly backwards in circles around bases.... awesome. Thats for these tips they will help :)
This move really pisses me off but I would like to know how to do it. I can't really explain it well, but it's the chopper does does an infinite circle around a fixed point and it's almost impossible to hit with a tracer dart.
@justnoobin89 yeah high level flyer are good and flying tight circles around a center what he calls in this video a cone. You may need to switch your controls because I fly pretty damn well, better than most and still I can fly as fast and as tight of circles as I have seen some people do (like when they are dominating you at your base spawn and you have no flags) It's like a circle of death you cannot escape lol.

While the circle strafe can be used in a tactical application (such as helping to take over a flag point), I'm absolutely positive most players would use it for evil. The other tactics I teach should be enough to make yourself a very effective pilot.
@wunkus man im am level 50 and get sick of these homo doing that circle bullshit...i just quit rage...another thing is the guys who hop on a Blackhawk and go hover on the other side of the map and letting their buddies gun the entire village down...
@Roesch03WRX luckily not many people use darts unless the are good. If you get hit by darts in a game, then I would equip it but that does not happen unless you have high level players. A lot of people don't know how to use darts lol.

Great videos, i stick with the standard controls for flying on the 360 i use to love the Apache as it is the lighter more manouvrable Hellicopter to fly (except the UAV) but recently iv been kicking ass in the Havoc, its heavyer than the Apache and you can feel it in the controls and this makes the Havoc deadly for spinning round faster to execute your second strafe, but i still find it next to impossible to shoot or even hit enemy hellicopter unless they are at short to medium distancees.
I have flown in GTA IV for three years and I learned to fly in this game in one day with the right settings. But I still can not Dogfight because I do not know what point should aim to destroy the enemy helicopter. Do you have any tips on this? :) ps. I play on ps3.

@SkilledHorneT As you may know, the rockets take a short time to travel to your target. Now, the farther you are away from your target, the longer it takes for the rocket to get there and the harder it is to be accurate. When you approach a target, fire only one rocket at a time, slowly, until you get closer to your target and can release a full barrage with effective accuracy. Then rely on your maneuverability to get out of there safely. Honestly, just practice to get better aim.
actually, you dont need to use the smoke perk to remove tracer darts. just shoot a smoke grenade at it (i undersatnd that is dificult, but it works on tanks too)

Pretty good video man, picked up some useful tips from these 3, however I do have one question to do with the Smoke perk, that being when is the best time to use it, when I first get tagged or when it says missle lock? Thats the only thing that confuses me at the moment

i can fly well and i can weave around and avoid missles...but the problem im having is that i cant keep my reticule steady on say a tank...its kind of annoying..anybody got any tips?
@maikkos1 there are many ways to destroy it. but the best that i recommend is "teamwork". being that my friends that i play with are not concerned with k/d/r they tend to do things that keep the vehicles in the air and on the ground. rush on atacama desert use the UAV to destroy the VADS before flying off in the HIND. The uav is small enough to fly below the sight level of the first VADS. get in position then fire off a missle "boom" VADS is down and HIND is free to fly without fear of VADS.
@maikkos1 if your friends like to play as medics and engineers those two classes should carry "tracer guns" on maps with vehicles no matter what. Medics dont really need pistols cause of the LMGs high ammo count and Engineers are basically anti vehicle and vehicle repair. If your friends are good tracer darters they can tag the VADS and engineers can lock on and RPG the VADS. If you are in the Apache/Havoc with ALT weapon as the pilot you can launch a hellfire missle at it after locking on it.
@maikkos1 another easy way to defend against the VADS is to limit access to it. This is where long range sniping with Recon comes in. Soon as the helicopter is up in the air someone is already in the seat of the VADS waiting to kill. Someone should post up somewhere with LOS on the VADS soon as someone sits "bang" snipe them out of it. Its funny cause soon as you snipe them out of the seat the body flies out the seat at a funny angle. Try it!
i just hate in this game how campers can't stay in a building anymore because it falls down.. so now they have to hog up the helicopters and stay there they whole match.. why could they not put a fuel tank to show how much you got left before plunging to ur death 4 mintues maxium..

I use flaires on my atack helicopters. Why? To remove those tracer darts planted on me while flying low. Maybe those traces arnt a problem at Xbox. but when youre playing on PC in a server whit 32 people (8 more that xbox and ps3) there are more Engis and Its easyer to sucses full place a tracer on helis. So People who say smoke is a bad thing, should learn to fly more than 2 minits whitout crashing and never get the change to get a tracer planted on them.
You do see quite a lot of people using the 'circle strafing' move alot, especially on rush with a cinfined target. Although predictable you can get a good speed going, thus making it tough to lock on to you. It also makes it extremelly easy to fire on a variety of targets quickly.
Nice tutorial but I've been doing that turning move you've been doing since bfbc1. What i need help with is shooting down an enemy heli better because that's the only problem I have when in the air. Everything else I'm the best at.

@DRAGONKILLS get higher in altitude, and if you can get behind it and get close to it and you can hit it with missles, which destroy it pretty fast, or you can use alt weapon pack and your gunner can use a tracer while you shoot a homing missle at it

@DEM1571 First is the way you want to go, 3rd is only useful if your hovering when capturing a point early on or some landings, however you can not aim worth crap in 3rd person :)
How come I cant find any attack choppers in Atacama Desert :/ All I can find is the MI-24 hind, which means only gunner get to shoot and no missiles :/ did they patch it or somethin?
@OleSAO VADS pisses me off and I play hc which makes it even worse, too many of those things around the map and guys just spam them. All you gotta do it lead your target for shooting other helis.

@maikkos1 there are many ways to destroy it. but the best that i recommend is "teamwork". being that my friends that i play with are not concerned with k/d/r they tend to do things that keep the vehicles in the air and on the ground. rush on atacama desert use the UAV to destroy the VADS before flying off in the HIND. The uav is small enough to fly below the sight level of the first VADS. get in position then fire off a missle "boom" VADS is down and HIND is free to fly without fear of VADS.

@maikkos1 if your friends like to play as medics and engineers those two classes should carry "tracer guns" on maps with vehicles no matter what. Medics dont really need pistols cause of the LMGs high ammo count and Engineers are basically anti vehicle and vehicle repair. If your friends are good tracer darters they can tag the VADS and engineers can lock on and RPG the VADS. If you are in the Apache/Havoc with ALT weapon as the pilot you can launch a hellfire missle at it after locking on it.

@maikkos1 another easy way to defend against the VADS is to limit access to it. This is where long range sniping with Recon comes in. Soon as the helicopter is up in the air someone is already in the seat of the VADS waiting to kill. Someone should post up somewhere with LOS on the VADS soon as someone sits "bang" snipe them out of it. Its funny cause soon as you snipe them out of the seat the body flies out the seat at a funny angle. Try it!

I use flaires on my atack helicopters. Why? To remove those tracer darts planted on me while flying low. Maybe those traces arnt a problem at Xbox. but when youre playing on PC in a server whit 32 people (8 more that xbox and ps3) there are more Engis and Its easyer to sucses full place a tracer on helis. So People who say smoke is a bad thing, should learn to fly more than 2 minits whitout crashing and never get the change to get a tracer planted on them.

You do see quite a lot of people using the 'circle strafing' move alot, especially on rush with a cinfined target. Although predictable you can get a good speed going, thus making it tough to lock on to you. It also makes it extremelly easy to fire on a variety of targets quickly.

This is the best tutorial for flying ever i was crap at flying before this tutorial i got shot down straight away 1 dog fight won but now 6 helicopters taken down 10 tanks over 50 players just me and my friend please thumbs this up guys he really deserves subs too.

@DRAGONKILLS get higher in altitude, and if you can get behind it and get close to it and you can hit it with missles, which destroy it pretty fast, or you can use alt weapon pack and your gunner can use a tracer while you shoot a homing missle at it

Make a vid on where to aim in order to shoot other choppers down. Just basic aiming... :)
