  • I used to own a Chevette HSX,(reg MAL 144W) they were black & didn't have the wide arches, tartan seats & wood dash/door cappings. They were never turbocharged as standard though, same 2.3 twin cam as the HS & HSR.

  • Can anyone confirm the existence of a rare 2.3 Turbo version of the Chevette called the HSx and what power it was putting out?

  • Mr Bookes' opinion can be found on You Tube with regard to Escort or Chevette.

  • that's my dream car, theirs nothing else i'd rather have

  • djrowley are you serious ? perhaps you had a few when you posted that comment??

  • @DIAMONDGEEZER64

er no the facts speak for themselves what did the vauxhall win compaired to the ford hmm not much did you go to this years roger clark rally i did i can recall seeing 1 chevette and 1 ascona how many escorts too many to count escort a far better road car a a FAR BETTER RALLY CAR THAT IS A FACT

  • Ford spent far more on motor sport than any other manufacturer, coz they figured that track success would lure the mugs into the showrooms, and it worked. But the chevette did very well, and was a nicer car to drive in standard form than the mk2 escort. Ive owned both. The mk2 was one of the dullest cars Ive ever had. It rusted bloody quick to. Nice gearbox though.

  • Sweet :)

  • not bad car, mk2 escort just a MUCH better car

  • ROFL!

  • original HSR was 2.3 DOHC 16v 245bhp 980kg so not slow

  • Chevettes to DTV spec were very fast :D am planning on eventually having 500BHP in mine lmao will be a death trap

  • didnt know chevettes went that fast is that an official HSR or a replica?
