I first heard this on an episode of M*A*S*H where a young concert pianist loses the use of his right hand. Charles presents him with the music to this piece. It's a powerfully strong piece of music.
@lawrence142002 That's where I first heard this, too. I kept the episode on my DVR just to hear this piece of music. I have been searching just for the piano alone, but I have found several pieces on iTunes for downloading.
....wonderful performance -.wonderful technique...you are honoring Ravel...he would be very pleased with you if he lived to listen to you...bravo! One of my most favorite concerts!
3 people have two hands also :this was made by Moris Ravel a french composer who created this for a pianist friend who lost an arm in ww1 .Anyway it's great song!!!!!
@lorenc1000 Not to be pedantic :-) but as far as I know, Paul Wittgenstein was not a friend of Ravel. He commissioned Ravel and other composers for piano works. Evidently, Wittgenstein made some fairly unappreciative comments about the concerto - and doesn't that beat all!
@ALeKZanDoHr Unfortunately, not always. I got pissed 5min ago, when seeing another video, of a Paul Wittgenstein's play. Some useless mocking people disliked the piece. They were babbling about it without even know Wittgenstein lost his right arm in WWI.
THIS IS INSANEEE!!!!!

which movement is this from?
philliphamilton2 1 year ago
@philliphamilton2 This concert has only 1 movement. This is a piano solo at the beginning of the concert after a little intro by orchestra.
