Children are meant to be cared for. Not caring for themselves. I live with my parents.... They hit me. My dad locked me in a closet one time so he could get high. You can see it a couple of different ways:

1. You can see abusive parents as pitbulls who inherited their genetic trait from their parents

2. You can see it as a sign of stress

3. You can see it as a continuous cycle, what was done to them will be done to their children, on and on.

4. You can see it as a form of sadomasochism

It's hard to say why parents, people in general will do it to others but there are many countless factors involved
