  • none of you have to use my advice an im not responsible for your screw ups its simple stuff guys, take your time dont rush it thats when you know you jst know for you who have the 2 stage with a clearcoat, heres a lil somen to make it shine

when your ready to buff the paint use the polishing compound you pick an then after make a paste with corn starch water use it to do a light buff out again insdead of the compound youll be amazed in what something from the cook cupboard will do,

  • @dandamansrandomvids you should only have to color sand the runs out if there are any if your using clear coat most likely a two stage paint you would spray how ever many layers of paint suits your fancy let it cure b4 you sand preferably the nxt day or the recomended sand time, once your satisfied all runs blemishes zebra stripes from overlaping incorectly are gone spray your coats of clear then you let it cure sand out the runs like you color sand starting 800-2000 then buff,

  • Respond to this video... basically to keep it simple take your project to bare metal lay a good base of filler primer 2-3 coats, this way your not jst sanding the metal making it thin week an chancing warping from friction heat during the process of filling /sanding bondo , once finished with bondo sanding shoot another couple coats of filler primer wet sand then primer seal, theres always runs shits like spraying water sand out with fine grit paper so its smooth, ready for paint

  • @apotts32 now heres where its fun your choice of single stage or two stage paints single stage you jst spray on let cure for few days it will flow out, then color sand buff it out make it shine

2stage paint your laying the color leting it flash to where it may seem still sticky almost not wet then you spray the clear coat, let cure for a few days everything has a chance to flow out less clear sanding but you can always expect more sanding

  • @CaseyMcLaugha i c said the blind man if its a primer sealer you shouldnt have to sand it at all it goes over your filler primer and mud bodywork babby bottom smooth basically you spray the paint right over it,now to the point filler primer was made to prevent rust when taking metal to bare, also fills scratches dings dents small ones ne ways , it was invented to protect your metal not to put it to ruins, its ok to wet sand primer

  • hes using the da wrong here too you're supposed to go figure 8ish so your not leaving sanding rings from the disk going side to side like an s that will give you different deepness in the color he is more vulnerable to burn through paint working one spot making the metal hot an notice the rings on the side of the car thats where he using only the side of the pad this will make your hard work wavey like an ocean you will notice it in the finish job they jst dont show it i bet it looks like crap

  • you must have a paint job that looks like your sandpaper, i know your falcon looks like a piece of 80 grit you pry fought sand scratches an overspray that even non sand able primer sealer couldnt fix, you can wet sand filler primer all day long use a wet dry paper 220 to 320 depicting your paint then primer seal lay your color, color sand if needed with the 800 to 2000, lay your clear coat clear sand starting 800 2000 dont want to go through the clear buff it , an then again with cornstarch

  • this video is better than the first one.. atleast he does use the da sander right. but the hand sand part wasnt done correctly .... but each there own i guess.

  • @mentalm12 youre exactky right every one has their own uniqueness they gathered from their learning days they put all to one thing getting it done an making it look nice in the end thats all that has ever been counted uponright by the way i thought his da work was garbage yet im also an opinionated gear head that nit picks ever thing i see wrong that way i can score that 300 out of 300

  • what grits on the machine. "doug"

Hi, Im Doug, and im a huge slapdick.

  • what grits on the machine. "doug"

  • Doug can kiss my ass

  • By hand is BETTER than a machine in EVERY way i run a car paint company wich my mom owns so dont tell me

  • is this also called wet sanding

  • @denchevyboyz

yeah it's wet sanding. most pros refer to it as color sanding after its been painted though. if you've ever color sanded by hand before then you'll know how valuable a waterproof DA sander like that is. its a miracle tool and they dont cost very much.

  • hi im doug douche

  • hi doug i have a dangers tool in my pocket it blows at about 100psi...so watch your eyes.allway wear saftey glasses

  • dam doug is in every video....

  • hey any one knows how to take out the scratcehs of the car well i already sanded the car with 220 but it has a lot of scratches the u could see and i want to get them out but i dont know how? some one told me to used 1000 sand paper but u could still see them adn its taking to long to sand with 1000

  • you want to slowly increase grit... you need to stay within 1-2 steps to be able to remove the previous scratches.

Remember sandpaper works by SCRATCHING... just in a controlled fashion.

    220 grit scratches can be removed with a 320 or a 400.

400 grit scratches can be removed with a 600. etc.. buffing = 2000+ grit (depending on compound). so dont expect to buff out anything more than an 800+

jumping from 220 to 1000 is a joke

  • these videos are truly pointless. I know the business model is geared towards 1 minute videos and involving lots of clicks... but it fails because viewer attention is depressed by the amount of enormous amount of work trying to figure out which link to click to next.

  • after the color sanding do you put another paint coat or do you jump to the clear coat

  • They are actually sanding the clear coat to get all the imperfections out. After that it will be buffed to a mirror like finish.

  • so you dont color sand the paint....and will the buff make the dullness go away permanet?

  • On a two stage paint job (base-coat clear-coat), you don't normally wet sand the base-coat (color).

Yes buffing will take the dullness away. You shouldn't use anything courser than 1,000 grit sand paper on the clear.

  • so is it base, clear, wet sand than buff?

  • Yes, in a nutshell.

  • aww man that sucks...I thought the buff and clear coat can sub each other. Ok I dont have a buffer if there anyway I could get the job done with the outcome as if I did have one?

  • Is the car already painted?

  • its already primed

  • You can either use a single stage enamel or a base clear system. Base clear is more forgiving for a beginner. The base sprays about like primer, and if the clear has imperfections it can be sanded and buffed. Either way if you keep the dirt out and spray a decent paint job it does not have to be buffed.

  • the thing is I know im going to make some mistakes...thats why I was hoping for some sanding included...can I try this?

ok its primed already...I want to lay the base down than I want to color sand the base to get it even and smooth cause Im not that good with the stroke technique...than the clear coat with out any sanding done to the clear coat? what could go wrong

  • That will work as long as the base coat is not metallic. You cannot sand metallic or pearl base coats. You dont buff the base coat either. Another thing to watch out for is that it is very easy to sand through the base coat, but if you do its easy to touch up by applying more base coat to the damaged area.

  • oright and what do you mean by pearl base...like silver? or is it like a special type of paint

  • Pearl or metallic meaning anything with a sparkle.
