Highpoint's "esata for mac" though that only supports 2 drives and you'd have to loop the wires back inside.
There's also a couple more I think that boot. Apple made it really a pain to create a bootable RAID card, it's taken 3 years for anyone to build one (unless you count apple's)
Great video. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that there are now cables showing, which is one of the nice things about the Mac Pro, that it doesn't show any cables and everything is very neat inside.
Yeah, although you can tie down the cables. This is a temp install so I didn't bother. Honestly though, I didn't open my 2007 MacPro until recently when I upgraded the RAM. LOL.
Great question. I did have this in the review, but cut it out for time and focus. I did record the data from the temp sensors and fan speeds. There were no difference before and after. I was a little surprised at that myself, but goes to show the great design of the Mac Pro. Had it gone up, I would have put that in, but since it was a non-issue I left it out.
This means that you're then sharing the speed afforded by the independent SATA slot for your bay so there's a compromise being made here.

what will the internal setup be like if you have the Pro Caddy 2 and DX4 together in the Mac Pro?

can you boot from any of the drives in this unit?
OZONECentral 2 years ago
Yes. You can RAID all 4 drives and boot from them.

How??? The RocketRaid 2310 card that comes with it doesn't support EFI bootable drives for Macs
it only supports windows bios bootable drivers.
pkerry12 2 years ago
But you dont need to buy this with RR 2310. This video was just about DX4.
ARToneLT 2 years ago
you do need a sata or even a SAS expansion card with raid ability if you want to EXPAND you hard drives from 4 to 8.
and in this video he demonstrates the DX 4 with the RocketRaid 2310 that is bundled with it for $271 USD.

Yeah Apples raid card is good but its only gives you raid to the sata ports in the computer, with no option for more sata ports.
The Esata option seems good but I need at least 4 sata ports extra.
