Clearly not a fighter, but i do believe that this was a result of his frustrations in past weeks. What sucks is, I went to Atlanta in November mainly to see Peverley, but imagine my shock when he was skating pregame, but then didnt play the game. It was my first NHL game, so i did enjoy watching the Preds, even if i didnt get to see my favorite player for the first time since he left South Carolina.
i did the same thing, except for simon gamache. i have gone to st.louis and toronto...and missed him. im kind of iffy if i should go to switzerland now....thats probally where he will be for a while..but i think i might miss him again!
I'm a Preds fan, yet I agree the Davison hit was legal. The Burrows hit, OTOH? Arnott beat the snot out of him, and I won't argue that he deserved to spend time in the box for that. But for Burrows to get absolutely nothing? The refs have really been bad for a number of Predators games lately. Not just this one. Anyhoo...
Even though the Canucks ended up with a 7 min PP (which they couldn't even capitalize on if their lives depended on it) I'm a bit disappointed with Burrows on that one as well and thought it was ridiculous that the Preds ended up getting a 7 min penalty for what any good captain (Arnott) would've done. The next Canucks-Preds game should be an interesting one eh? No doubt Trotz would be putting Tootoo in for that one...
While Tootoo is very willing to fight (unlike some pests), the Preds would rather have him on the ice grinding away, drawing penalties and opening up the ice, than sitting in the box. Wade Belak, however, is another story! Already one of my all-time favorite Nashville acquisitions, if he doesn't have a 1.00 FPG (fight-per-game) average since becoming a Pred, he's close. And he can FIGHT! And, unlike some *coughBoogaardcough*, Belak is a decent PLAYER, and at both ends of the ice. Anyhoo...
i think his feet came up, and yes i know tootoo has done it before, but this looked like a charge to me, along with the burrows hit, that guy is such a pussy
That hit was gruesome, but for the most part clean shoulder to shoulder.
I have to say before last night I would say Pevs would be one of the last guys I would want to see fight. However he held his own and I could make the case that he won that fight. I'm not sure if Jaffray is a fighter because Pevs is not and he held his own. Good job Peverley I love to see the guys stick of for their teammates
I believe Jaffray was the victim of Peverley's frustrations over being a healthy scratch so often this season. Based on his play last season, Peverley (my All-Star write-in) should have already been on the player list for permanent roster positions. Nashville should have kept Pihlstrom over Hornqvist and Jones when the season began, and sent the latter two (who just finished playing in Sweden and university) down to AHL Milwaukee, like the Predators do with practically everyone else. Anyhoo...
I'm not a canucks fan, this hit was unbelievably good and clean, but the burrows and kessler hits, pure dirty, the burrows one is suspension worthy id say at least for a game or 2. This may be hit of the year contesting with Stuart on Tanguay.
i love canadian announcers. If it was tootoo hitting sedin or another good player they would of said that was a dirty shot, but if it was a canuck, it was a clean shot.
most players lead into their hits as well. my problem more so with the nichol hit was he went for the head( at least that is what it appeared to me) and that he left his feet to make the hit.
i got to meet jaffray at my cousins wedding he was the best man and i also got his autograph

What a huge hit! But this guy should have got a charging penalty because his skates clearly leave the ice to hit his head.

fucking devastating, that could be hit of the year! hahahaah

burrows isn't a pussy, he's one of the smartest agitators in the league.

first i thought it was preety dirty but the replay show it was a preety clean one! PROPS

Beautiful hit.
But the scrum afterwards is typical of how the NHL is becoming a no-contact league.
It seems any contact now and players are ready to drop the gloves and the fans are screaming for suspensions.
I remember when you'd see hits like this one all the time and there was rarely retaliation unless it was a star player on the receiving end.

The joke fought with his visor on. Not cool.
jcol87 3 years ago
both of them fought with visors
predz47 3 years ago
I agree and I think we will see the league deal with that issue soon....wearing a visor during a fight should be a misconduct.

Nice little scrap there, but both players should've tossed the helmets. It's just good sportsmanship.

that was a clean hit. the burrows hit was cheap.

I guess the only questionable thing about it is the guy could have thrown a hip check, but chose to go high (legally)
hockeyfreakofnature 3 years ago
that was actually a pretty clean hit. no elbow to head shot. he didn't raise his elbow at all

WOW what a hit! He got leveled

Are you kidding me, that was a great hit.
I'm not even a Canuck fan.
carmie1818 3 years ago 2
if tootoo hit high like that, what would you say? hes hit high like that and it was a cheap shot then, but now its a clean shot?
billyg0789 3 years ago
If Tootoo threw a hit like that I'd say it was a great hit. That was a beauty of a hit!
haggggs 3 years ago
really? cause hes hit like that before and got suspended.... not only that, the same people saying this was a clean hit were saying his were dirty.
billyg0789 3 years ago
When was Tootooo suspended for a hit like this?
Tootoo also jumps into his hits, because he is so short. When he does this he usually catches the guy in the head. He's done that since junior.
carmie1818 3 years ago
so your saying that the guys who hit nichol and dumont didnt jump into those hits either?
billyg0789 3 years ago
