I have a few questions... Is that Ceder? Or pressure treated? How are the posts attached to the cement? How tall is it?.... It looks good to me. I'm thinking of building one.
painting it white and hide all this beautifull wood is such a wrong idea, plus rain will cause the painf to peel off. second it doesn't have to match the house. It doesn't need to be attasched to the house.
Plus the guy is happy with it enough to upload a video. Why do you need to roas thim? are you retarderd? do you have a mental illness that every time someone gets something nice you have to flame him?
A pergola will never match a style of home built in present times. As they are from the time of the Romans, you would have to build a Colosseum to match. In a nut shell they are constructed to make shade, where you put it is left to the builders preference.
@edaker66 There is no need to attach any structure to the house. That just opens the door for a whole lot of problems. Why would this be attached to the house, it is a free standing pergola on 6 posts... there is no floor on it! You better go back to school son.
I like the pergola, the only thing that I wouldn't like is stepping down to it from the screen door, and looking at the beams from inside through the door.. but thats me.
@dynomax666 I agree with you 100% concerning trying to attach a ledger board to the house and properly flashing it to avoid moisture problems / rot. Not necessary even with a floor / deck and the cost of a couple of extra posts is negligible.
I don't agree wih his language, but do agree that, although constructed very beautifully, it doesn't match the design of your home. It does look like it was delivered to your home without regard to the design of your home. Maybe if it was painted to match. :)
It looks like something that was flown in and dropped in your yard with absolutely NO regard to the architecture of your home. I'm sorry, but it looks like flaming dog shit.

As a free standing unit, it's too close to the house. To be that close it should be attached to the structure of the house.
