@MikDonsen -- Mik, calling for an end to immigration to Canada has ZERO to do with overpopulation. Those babies are still getting born somewhere, and they're going to want what we have, and they're going to consume (e.g. Indians and Chinese consume aren't consuming less when they reach the same levels of affluence).  She's so focused on fields in Guelph that she's missing the global picture. I'm amazed that you easily dismiss the clear, coherent arguments of the other panelists

we need stop thinking in terms of nation states and think in terms of a global community. The simple fact of the matter is we have only one EARTH, we are all part of it and dependent on its well being. We all must sacrifice for the greater good by having less kids, consume n waste less, embrace social, political and economic change, educate our friends and neighbors of this crucial fact . This must be a global initiative or we are all doomed. We simply don't have another option. Education is KEY

She's not being realistic if she thinks immigration and overpopulation are related. Those babies are being born somewhere, and this is a global problem. She seems to only worry about the local environment, when those in the 3rd world are deforesting, polluting, and cash cropping the environment there too. Immigration has nothing to do with this global problem.
