Biggest tragedy in NFL history when he had that hip go.. such a fluky play too I still shake my head when they replay it on ESPN. Still the man Bo. But Adrian Peterson reminds me of him on random bursts - still not quite the same.
My 2 cents... Bo was without doubt the best package to ever play RB. However if you are referring to his NFL career I can't call him the greatest ever. Don't get me wrong based on his production Bo was ahead of anyone else. But it's hard to declare a person who played half seasons, for only half the seasons hall of famers average the G.O.A.T. It's not his fault, but his career was simply too short to say he's the G.O.A.T. However if you're referring to his college days, I could see the argument
Quit trying to compare Bo Jackson to Cam Newton...both were great at what they did...Bo was great at being a runningback, and Cam Newton was great at being a quarterback. Both players contributed to Auburn University's storied football program, so quit trying to compare the two.
@The3rdWall Silly comparison. Bo Jackson last played college football in 1985. Let Bo have been born 25 years later and play the game of football the way they do now, and he might be what Cam Newton is. If Cam had played in Bo's day, they would have made him a defensive end. Wouldn't have even considered him as a quarterback. In any case, I wonder if you ever actually saw Bo play? I did, and he was better than anyone in the college game in his day.
@The3rdWall Cam Newton is a QUARTERBACK you idiot. Of COURSE he's going to be a threat in the air. Bo Jackson is pretty much as big as he is though, and twice as fast.
Bo= Best overall athlete in college football history. Do you realise he did little supplementary training, he got in shape for the different sports by playing them. All these 17 year old kids jerking off over cam newton running a 4.5 in his little under armour top. Bo walked straight from baseball season into the NFL and dominate the pros like they were little children. With modern nutrition, equipment and training he would be downright scary.
I remember asking my dad a long time ago if Bo was a good RB back in the day and he replied "Oh goodness without question the best ever. He was truly a freak of nature." funny thing is my dad is a die hard Alabama fan.
@The3rdWall Bo was a double threat - with both the pigskin and the bat - let's see Cam crank a 400 foot home run or dive & catch a screaming line drive
@The3rdWall Bo was a double threat - with both the pigskin and the bat - let's see Cam crank a 400 foot home run or dive & catch a screaming line drive
@The3rdWall sorry dude... war eagle and all but bo's better. cam may be awesome but he was shutout a couple times this year. and bo played in the major leagues for baseball too... keep that in mind :) go bo
Pleeeaaseee, Cam Newton is nowhere near BO Jackson. Cam is an average passer and a good running quarterback. Those types of players rarely accomplish anything in the NFL. Just look at Vince Young, he hasnt done shit and hes both a better passer AND runner than Cam LOL. Great NFL quarterbacks need to have tremendous passing skills and Cam simply does not I bet cam will get moved to TE or runningback and wont even play QB.
I guess every generation believes their generation is the fastest, the best, etc.. I see you are 25, I am Bo Jackson's age... so I guess we have our own biases. The game today is 99% the same as it was 25 years ago. Bo was a force in his day, and Cam's position as QB naturally gives Cam more of an advantage to be a game changer. Tebow is incredible on the field and off the field, since they will both play on Sundays... we will see which style... if any... works better at the next level.
@label1877 The game is no where near the same. Rule changes, added rules, the evolution of the TE and LB positions, different types of offenses, softer playing style now than back than. No where near the same.
Bo is an absolutely incredible athlete, but you'd be crazy to not admit that Cam is more of a gamechanger than Bo was. The fact that Cam gets ahold of the ball EVERY SINGLE SNAP and makes conscious decisions on what to do with it makes him more valuable than Bo. But the reality is that there were 4(or 3 if you wanna be that guy and not count his freshman year) years of Bo, where there will probably be only one of Cam. They are, in my mind, the two greatest athletes in SEC history.
Let me just say this. To much has changed in the sport to make a justification on who is the better athlete. You can not compare Cam or Bo to each other. They played two different positions. Now the truth is if you can not see that Cam Newton is much better than Tebow ever was than you are blind. Cam Newton further proves the point that Tebow is now where near the best ever to play the game or the best QB ever!
@label1877 Yes there are! Rules, speed of the game, different types of offenses, the evolution of the TE position! All are changes and have impacted the game. Bo and Cam also still play two different positions. They can not be compared.
@label1877 I have been waiting on a response. I am guessing though all of my VALID points have you lost for words. Not trying to be rude. Just want to see what you have to say now?
cam newton is gonna win the Heisman this saturday!!!! Man only if bo would've got out of bounds he would be in the nfL records books forever but like barry sanders said it not the record books you should play for but for the love of the game BO JACKSON GREATEST RUNNING BK EVER TO PLAY THE GAME!!!!
@The3rdWall , youre crazy. You think Cam is better runner than Bo Jackson, even though Bo Jackson had one of the fastest 40 yard dash times Ever recorded?
@thedarklordofdoom What does baseball or a running back have to do with being QB? Nothing! Cam and Bo can not be compared. They play two different positions.
@The3rdWall They are two different types of players you can't recall contrast. I believe Bo Jackson is the greatesst running back to ever live. He ran the 40 in in under 4.1 with 235 lbs on him nobody has ever done that or even come close. He is amazing. So is cam Netwon. Just totally different but it will take a long time for Cam Newton to take the place Bo Jackson has in us Auburn fans heart. He was Bo and Bo was and still is the man of all men. War Eagle!
@jet7111 Bo is Bo, that's all I can say. And I'm a Tennessee fan and can admit Bo is the best in history. Then again I loved Bo running all over Alabubba :)
@jet7111 Well said! The guy had "Neon Deion" speed, but much bigger and a lot more powerful. The only guy to come close to his size and speed in recent years is Calvin Johnson a Wide Reciever, 235lbs, and ran a 4.35, which is crazy for his size but does not compare to Bo!
@bugsquish71 Cam Newton has NOTHING on bo jackson. Bo Jackson is one of the most talented running backs to ever play football. If he hadn't broken his hip in the 1990 playoffs (ending his football career), he would have been a sure-fire hall of famer. Cam Newton may turn out to be a great one, but he's got nothing on bo when it comes to running ability.
@mpw5065 Dyer isnt even the best RB in his class. Lattimore is. I cant believe
you moron Auburn fans are talking about Cam Newton and Michael dyer on a Bo Jackson video. Bo Jackson was the greatest athlete to ever live........ Cam Newton is 247 pounds and runs a 4.53 in the 40 yard dash. Bo Jackson was 225 pounds and clocked a 4.12 in the 40.
@MrBlueCrimson I remember when I first watched Lattimore. The Gamecocks have all the peices. Spurrier though is kiilling them IMO. Lattimore is likely the best RB in the SEC though.
Bo was clocked at a 4.1 40 yard dash in an NFL combine. Almost all of his 40 yard dashes were clocked at sub 4.2. That's world class speed on a guy 225 lbs.
Youngsters who commented down below, now listen up. Yes Hester is fast and amazing. Jackson was FAST & had Power , he knocked Ronnie Lott on his ass in '88 (I was at the game) knocked the BOZ on his ass and crazy fast. That was only football, i was lucky to see him play baseball. BEST ATHLETE of my LIfetime.
It's hilarious to see the young guys who only recently started watching football compare people like Hester to Jackson. Might as well compare Eli Manning to Joe Montana.

Noone now could catch Bo. He has possibly the fastest forty time ever recorded in the NFL with the possible exception of Darrell Green who "unofficially" ran a 4.03. But Bo's "official" forty time is the fastest ever i believe.
He handles himself in the end zone very well here. He sorta tips the ball to the Auburn fans, but there's really no "celebration" as we know the term today. Just a quick walk back to the sidelines. His off-balance correction at the 40 shows the grace of a ballet dancer.
Hey Tiger fans, If you want Auburn Football news, recruiting, rumors, post/pre game recaps, and giveaways then check out our channel. FootballOnThePlains.
no. hester is not the all around athlete bo was. bo was a standout baseball player as well as track runner. not to mention a heisman trophy winner. did devin hester do that? WAR EAGLE and good day.
80 yards? he started from the 37or so got the pitch about the 35 headed toward the sideline for about yeah 10 yards broke a tackle which doesn't really add extra yards the cut was about not even 5 yards so it was about 47 yards total, Zooko think again
47 total? Did you listen to the clip? Keith Jackson called it a 71 yrd play. He actually received the ball at his own 25yrd line so it was closer to a 85 yrd run total. VERY FAST!
THAT was amazing. Anyone happen to look at the time? He got the ball at 0:05 & was in the endzone at 0:13. 8 seconds! Big deal? YES... He had to make a cut. That's #1. #2 he probably ran at least 10 yds to GET to the sideline AND had someone hit his feet making him stumble. So he ran AT LEAST 80 yards... made a cut... was tripped up and did ALL of that ...
in 8 seconds.
Yes... very big deal. He had rediculous speed for his size and strength.
I am a FL alum, class of 86...I actually saw Bo play back in those days and I have never seen a better athlete in college. He was great at everything!
bo was equally proficient in both. he would have been at the top of the league in rushing if marcus allen wasnt on his team as well. deion was good in football, but wasnt that great at baseball. where as bo was amazing at both. plus he was more athletic than deion. Ran a faster 40 time yet had 30 more pounds of muscle on him
did you see the angle that the safety had on him and he couldn't touch him?? wow!! never before has anyone been that big and had that kind of speed. he was like 230 or 240 lbs. of muscle and he ran at least a 4.3 40. at least. to say he ran a 4.4 is absurd. anyone who sees how he out ran people would know that he had to be at least a 4.3. God bless Bo. Hes awesome!!

@Philliesphan321 The formation is called the wishbone ( because it looks like a wishbone ).
dunc0029 1 year ago
Do any NFL teams use that formation?

devin hester is best
kaydenparsons 2 years ago
your a fucking idiot. bo is one of the greats to ever play football. he shouldn't even be in the same sentence as "devin hester"
BROWNING334 2 years ago 51
Hester's incredible in is own right but the question is could Bo do what Hester's done? Probably. Then could Hester do what Bo did? Maybe 10% of it.
cavaleer 1 year ago
no. hester is not the all around athlete bo was. bo was a standout baseball player as well as track runner. not to mention a heisman trophy winner. did devin hester do that? WAR EAGLE and good day.
BROWNING334 1 year ago
As I said, 10% of what Bo did. Bo was easily the most incredible athlete in known history, a modern-day Achilles.
cavaleer 1 year ago
yes good analogy.
BROWNING334 1 year ago
@BROWNING334 No kidding. I would love to see Devin Hester run through somebody.
iamfoob 1 year ago
@BROWNING334 Bo's the best ever, at any position, but Hester has had more than a few Bo-like moments. ;-)
cavaleer 1 year ago
@cavaleer dude you're fricking insanely crazy!!! if u think devin hester is anywhere NEAR Bo Jackson!!
xking3055x 1 year ago
@xking3055x I said he's had more than a few Bo-like moments. Big difference.
cavaleer 1 year ago
@BROWNING334 hahahahah!! well said! I'm disgusted that anyone would compare someone to bo, especially him.
wghtsrgltng 1 year ago
@BROWNING334 True.
i don't even recall Hester starting at Miami on offense.
lfholt7 9 months ago
80 yards? he started from the 37or so got the pitch about the 35 headed toward the sideline for about yeah 10 yards broke a tackle which doesn't really add extra yards the cut was about not even 5 yards so it was about 47 yards total, Zooko think again
yungXkun 2 years ago
47 total? Did you listen to the clip? Keith Jackson called it a 71 yrd play. He actually received the ball at his own 25yrd line so it was closer to a 85 yrd run total. VERY FAST!
JahRage 2 years ago
100-25=85 haha Auburn grads lol
marshallmock 2 years ago 2
Dude, please read. We added about 10 yrds because he didnt run a straight line. do you not agree with that?
JahRage 2 years ago
no you said he was running from the 25 yard line so it was about 85 yard run LMFAO I didn't know there was 110 yards on a football field.
marshallmock 2 years ago
hey dumb motherfucker there is if u include endzones damn stupid ass alabama grads...fuck you
BlackBriarEnt 2 years ago
okay include endzones 100+10+10=120 still not 110 yards. Nice Try! Better Luck Next Time. A
marshallmock 2 years ago
he didn't start at the 37 he got the pitch at the 25
ppqqz 2 years ago 8
dude it was his own 37..that is not a 47 yard run..
cookmydinner 2 years ago
they were on their own side of the field retard
smoot0420 2 years ago
@yungXkun wow ur dumb
GenerationX96 2 years ago
THAT was amazing. Anyone happen to look at the time? He got the ball at 0:05 & was in the endzone at 0:13. 8 seconds! Big deal? YES... He had to make a cut. That's #1. #2 he probably ran at least 10 yds to GET to the sideline AND had someone hit his feet making him stumble. So he ran AT LEAST 80 yards... made a cut... was tripped up and did ALL of that ...
in 8 seconds.
Yes... very big deal. He had rediculous speed for his size and strength.

TheAwesomeJayandGray 3 years ago
He ran a 4.19 at the combines...I think barry sanders was the best ever...but if bo didn't get hurt, your talkin 1a and 1b...
dgator41 3 years ago
no, a) 4.18 and b)deff not barry sanders, barry sanders would be the best at the agility drill i imagine
skydome29 2 years ago
i think he was just saying he thinks barry sanders was the best ever RB, not the best ever at the combine.
warrenb55 2 years ago
Its hard to argue with 5.5 yards a game, 900+ yards in half a season
skydome29 2 years ago
on what part are you talking of? yeah Bo averaged that as a back up
warrenb55 2 years ago
BO JACKSON WAS THE GREATEST EVER
lhwood777 3 years ago

skydome29 3 years ago

how can you justify deon over bo, being that bo was faster and stronger?
st762410 3 years ago
Deion over Bo? biggest laughable comment I ever heard. Anyone who says that doesnt know jack shit about sports.
nsra1933 3 years ago
probably the best two professional sport athlete ever.
he was all star baseball , pro bowl american football. and accomplished somethings that people who play full time didnt do.
kingshahine 3 years ago
i would have to give deion the edge over bo. i gotta' disagree with you there.
MasonsInquiries 3 years ago
bo was equally proficient in both. he would have been at the top of the league in rushing if marcus allen wasnt on his team as well. deion was good in football, but wasnt that great at baseball. where as bo was amazing at both. plus he was more athletic than deion. Ran a faster 40 time yet had 30 more pounds of muscle on him
kingshahine 3 years ago
how?
skydome29 3 years ago
did you see the angle that the safety had on him and he couldn't touch him?? wow!! never before has anyone been that big and had that kind of speed. he was like 230 or 240 lbs. of muscle and he ran at least a 4.3 40. at least. to say he ran a 4.4 is absurd. anyone who sees how he out ran people would know that he had to be at least a 4.3. God bless Bo. Hes awesome!!
st762410 3 years ago
actually he ran the second fastest 40 yard dash of all time in the nfl combine. 4.18
