we listened to something like this in my music appreciation class today. I expected some of the kids to laugh (not me because I have come to appreciate all kinds of music). To my surprise, none of them even spoke a word about it. Most of them knew exactly what kind of music it was and I think they kinda enjoyed it. This is just the beginning of our semester so I am looking forward to more great music from great composers.

@mourajini - I have a friend who personally told me she feels more at peace inside a church than a mosque - but she's still a devout muslim. I know Christians who love listening, me included, to a good rendition of the azaan (bad renditions suck!) but dont have issues with their Christianity - enjoy and be at peace

@mourajini I think it is great that a Muslim would listen to music like this! I'm Catholic but listen to Islamic call to prayer. I think it is beautiful that we can listen to different culture's music, all praising the same God, the same Father, Allah. We are more simillar than not, I would say! @999Thip What ever form such a Church takes, we do need to make sure that people cannot fancifully add and remove from the scriptures, many have done so over the years, even worse people make claims about the texts in their translated forms and jump to conclusions of what the words meant, taking not into account of the times the texts were written in and the idioms of the time. People no longer read the Bible with an open mind and heart we read it in many cases to justify an already held view.

its not easy but i really was seeking the truth.. the more i was seeking,the more i was told not to question,and just believe.

The part that confuses me the most is when the bible claims to be the "irrefutable" word of god. "perfect" in every way, and even "unchanging." These were the thoughts people say (not too long ago) when blacks were slaves/women couldn't vote... etc.

@999Thip It is something that I have been shown as a child, I was practically raised by Priests & Nuns my whole life, The orders of Opus Dei, the Jesuits and the Sisters of Mercy and The Benedictine order. hey, I was just like you! and then I had a roommate who was in sect (didnt know that), I saw a really scary unnormal things going on....and then I realized that the best way to protect your self is given by Jesus. He left us His Holy Spirit in His Church so that we can be as one and protected. Now Im an active catholic, Im going to mass and for change I understand why Im going to mass, lol.

@mourajini - I have a friend who personally told me she feels more at peace inside a church than a mosque - but she's still a devout muslim. I know Christians who love listening, me included, to a good rendition of the azaan (bad renditions suck!) but dont have issues with their Christianity - enjoy and be at peace

I think it is beautiful that we can listen to different culture's music, all praising the same God, the same Father, Allah. We are more simillar than not, I would say! @999Thip What ever form such a Church takes, we do need to make sure that people cannot fancifully add and remove from the scriptures, many have done so over the years, even worse people make claims about the texts in their translated forms and jump to conclusions of what the words meant, taking not into account of the times the texts were written in and the idioms of the time. People no longer read the Bible with an open mind and heart we read it in many cases to justify an already held view.

its not easy but i really was seeking the truth.. the more i was seeking,the more i was told not to question,and just believe.
so i got my own bible, and started to read it daily--and over time i began to understand it, i ask for the sprit, and wisdom, and jesus gives it freely to us.
i now understand that the catholic church pays too much attention on the church, and not jesus.--- but jesus is the one we report to, this i know.

The part that confuses me the most is when the bible claims to be the "irrefutable" word of god. "perfect" in every way, and even "unchanging." These were the thoughts people say (not too long ago) when blacks were slaves/women couldn't vote... etc.

Look at the message Christ was delivering, look at who he was correcting, he preached love of God and tolerance & forgiveness and pointed out the hypocrisy of clergy and other men of power. How often do you see the Bible being abused to do opposite of what he taught? @999Thip It is something that I have been shown as a child, I was practically raised by Priests & Nuns my whole life, The orders of Opus Dei, the Jesuits and the Sisters of Mercy and The Benedictine order. I have been taught as a child to love all even if I disagree with them, I also had a blessing in the form of my recently deceased cousin who would always put me firmly in my place when I got a swelled ego and started thinking that I know everything, So now I try to listen even when I disagree.

hey, I was just like you! and then I had a roommate who was in sect (didnt know that), I saw a really scary unnormal things going on....and then I realized that the best way to protect your self is given by Jesus. He left us His Holy Spirit in His Church so that we can be as one and protected. Now Im an active catholic, Im going to mass and for change I understand why Im going to mass, lol.
God unespectedly show me the reality of the "dark side" to find a way to the Light. :D

@LilyOfTheValley385 I came Home to the Roman Catholic church this year and have never felt such reverence and respect for things Holy in any other church. The love of God is preached from the pulpit, sung by the choir and practiced by the people. I never new Mass could be so meaningful until I took instructions learned about what it means. The new testament was written by Jews yes, and yes Jesus was a jew; but how could he be christian if he was the one to start the religion? The jews believe that Jesus was a prophet just like the Muslim faith. The new testament however was not written by jews, it was written by Christ's followers, Christians. No one has ever said don't read the old testament it's too jewish. No christian can deny their roots as a jew. The fact of the matter that you are missing from all of this is.....
