For example, the overall volume is to loud and goes over to red in the multimetering. The track with vocals is automated with volume. I of course want to lower the volume on all tracks so i mark every track and drag it down. If i then want the vocal track to read the automation it goes back to its original value and is way to loud for the rest of the mix. Please help!!
Nice tutorial! I am having problems with adjusting the overall volume on the mix because the tracks with automation goes back to its original values after everything is dragged down. Is there a way to adapt the automation?
hey, i have a question.. how do i save space (use less tracks) when I want to tweak the same synth that i used in the verse, and make it different for the chorus? I would usually just duplicate the track using the same settings, but im sure there is a more efficient way to do this... thanks
THANK U SO MUCH!!! I'm recording with Logic 8 and I can't figure out how to use automation, so I was gonna grab the book and find it, but in the modern world of internet and help videos on YouTube, I hoped I'd find what should be very easy to do AND I DID!
how do u copy and paste automation so u dont have to redo all that tricky shit u just spent hours trying automate, reason was much easier to do it on u lituraly right click copy n past but how u do it with logic can some one drop me a message plz!!
i found out u basicaly high-light it then click 'alt' and drag ur 'tricky shit', u can do this with anything, hope that helps. DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO OPEN FUCKIN VST PLUGINS LIKE ALBINO IN LOGIC???
In Write automation mode, any adjustment you make to the track while in playback will be recorded as automation. This includes any adjustments to any plug-ins applied to the track that is Write enabled.
For using the pen tool, the automation lanes contain a disclosure triangle in the lower left that will create additional lanes as you turn it down. It will default to Volume, but clicking the label button will let you choose what automation lane you want to see, including effects.
Rereading your question, you might have been talking about options like Mute and Solo?
In cases of on/off items and automation, it is either all the way to the top, or all the way to the bottom. Automation drawn into lanes like this will look like a square wave.
Keep in mind that you don't have to draw automation with the pencil. You can click the mute button during playback in Write mode or Latch mode and it will record the mute into automation. Same is true for all automatable parameters
Nevermind this comment. I figured it out. I had the right idea, just had the wrong track selected. (I had made two while experimenting and got 'em mixed up) D'oh!
First thing to check is your caps lock key. If that is active, it will default to the caps lock keyboard and all one-stroke key commands will be disabled.
If that isn't it, check your keyboard shortcuts pane to make sure you haven't accidentally disabled or reprogrammed this shortcut.
In your tools menu in the upper right of the arrange window, click the dropdown and select the Automation Curve Tool. This will let you select a segment between two automation points and drag it to a curved shape.

the only problem is you have to do that with every automation lane, right?
it would be awesome if you could save all automation, on every plug in on one track as like a preset and load it up again.
anyone know if thats possible?

Yeah, that explains volume but what about plugins?
I made an AUX track with an EQ on it but the only options I have are vol, pan, solo, and mute. How can I automate the EQ parameters?

Minus,
In your tools menu in the upper right of the arrange window, click the dropdown and select the Automation Curve Tool. This will let you select a segment between two automation points and drag it to a curved shape.
