Stage 6 themes are generally short and stage 1/2 themes are generally still introductory so they generally are shorter and feel more "tacked on", so a lot of the great stage themes are on stages 3/4/5.

The bridge people no longer cross, Voyage 1969, The fantastic legend of Tohno, and many more are also good, though.
