  • You have indeed left an unbeatable legacy, You are a great leader and you will leave forever

  • He evens speaks other languages(Yoruba)... RIP Ikemba

  • i wish Biafra was a success. Why should we be forced to be part of a place we want nothing to do with?

  • he talks with a British accent

  • CALLING YOU THE IKEMBA NNEWII IS A DEMOTION: YOU ARE THE:

    IKEMBA NDI IGBO !

  • Nna anyi ukwu Ojukwu, Dalu so. You are very articulate and am very proud to hail from the east. The struggle continues and Ndi Igbo will never give up the fight. Igbo Kwenu!

  • People like u never want to hear d truth & wallow in Prejudice & hatred. Are u trying to justify d mass killing of d Igbos & other south-easterners by d fact that a military man & his military friends carried out a political coup? Is that rational thinking? Ojukwu did what he had to do d best way he could based on his awareness of world politics & I support him Whole heartedly. Anybody would do d same. His people were being massacred. Only mistake was that he did not factor Britain in his plan.

  • ... After killing Ironsi and Many Igbo officers who had nothing to do with the coup, They descended on Igbo civillians living in their region and slaughtered tens of thousands. Now Ironsi played a part in thwarting the Nzeogwu coup, but let's say he was military and the Notherners did not trust him. Let's say the Northern soldiers became afraid of the Igbo soldiers and decided to cleanse the military of any Igbo. What about the civillians?...

  • @pinnacare1

Nzeogwu and others (mainly igbo) carried out a coup and killed prominent Notherners (albeit in a very corrupt government). Power was handed to Ironsi, the highest ranking military officer. Ironsi was undecided in executing Nzeogwu and co as some quarters hailed them while others chided them. The Northerners Killed Ironsi and took over but did not stop there. They started a mass killing of Igbo officers but did not stop there. contd

  • ...contd ... Ojukwu's mistake was in thinking that the Western World had any scrpules. He thought that with the knowledge of what was happening in the country, that the west would help Biafra maintain Independence as it was clear that it was the only sensible solution. If only he struck a deal with the shameless British, there wouldn't have been a war. But he did not and that was his mistake.

  • @tweenthyfourseventow

There is one thing you fail to realise. There was no better time to declare a Biafran Republic. The Notherners had carried out a mass execution of Igbo Military officers in the west and North. The Nothern people were carrying out massive killings of south-easterners. It was clear what the fate of the South-Easterners would be. The mistake Ojukwu made was in thinking that the International Community (the western world) have any scrupules. contd.

  • @tweenthyfourseventow Tell us how he was supposed to do what you claim he should have done by first recounting the events that led to the Biafran secession and the Civil war. We are all ears and waiting.

  • Smart Anwser.

  • so many nigerian leaders are more eloquent than he is. he is a good speaker, accepted but dont make it an issue

  • @shola04 'So many nigerian leaders are more eloquent than he is'? like who? Sani Abacha, Obasanjo, who? Did Ojukwu praise himself? Is it not the observation of the person interviewing him? Why such seeming bitterness in yur speech? I am not really interested in who speaks better but why is this a problem to you??? SO MANY eloquent speakers indeed. Clap for yourself.

  • @davies93313 i have not made an issue out of it, all i said is quite obvious, so deal with it. an dthose you mentioned were head of states, does not necessarily make them leaders. Ojukwu was never a head of state, except perhaps he nursed the ambition of Biafra, which failed. so why mention just head of states. dont get it twisted

  • @shola04 Please I may need to know the Nigerian heads of state, and then the 'so many Nigerian leaders' separate from them; since Nigeria have been enjoying good distribution of power and not the greatest power to the topmost man. Mind you, what you called obvious wasn't so to me but the one that just naturally struck my head is the one I have told you. I didn't come here to fight or insult. I just wrote as I saw it. So don't get mine twisted as well.

  • HOW MANY NIGERIAN LEADERS ARE ELOQUENT AND FLUENT LIKE THIS MAN.

  • I LOVE THIS MAN..... OJUKWU. THERE ARE TOO MANY LEARNED MEN IN THE BIAFRAN NDI -IGBO LAND.

  • Ikemba himself. You've got to love his sence of humor.

  • Critics claim Ojukwu was intransigent to accepting Gowon's authority but Gowon toppled a legitimate government of Aguiyi Ironsi. It was a criminal act and he and his cohorts ought to be tried as coup-plotters. Gowon along with his fellow culprits are rebels that usurped power from a legitimately constituted authority. Gowon's and subsequent regimes were illegitimate governments. Gowon was intransigent in reneging on Aburi Accord he earlier accepted while serving colonial interests. Anti-Africans

  • @Biafrans7 Gowon did not "topple" any govt. he was called to rule by virtue of his non-tribalistic pedigree. He was neither Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba and though he was from a plcae closer to the North, Gowon was a christian by faith...hence he was chosen as a consensus candidate that would not stir up tribal tensions in the polity...AM I right or right?

  • @Tampinu "Gowon had already arrived at breakfast time at Ikeja barracks that morning of July 29th and was closeted with the leaders of the coup. By sundown it was plain that seizure and killing of Eastern officers and soldiers was going on in Army barracks all over the West and the North. This pattern went on for three days..." ------- Frederick Forsyth in page 70 of his book, 'Emeka' first published July 1982.

  • @Tampinu

Read your nonesense comment again. Are u saying that the killings of a lot of Igbo and south eastern soldiers (& the subsequent mass murder of every Igbo the notherners could find) was motivated by religion? Are u so stupid that u think u can make such a stupid comment in public without reprimand? U and others like u are the reason why Nigeria will never move forward. U just open ur stinking mouth and talk rubbish and try to pass it on as fact. Keep ur stupidity confined to ur home pls

  • @chung1chu If this is the manner that all the Igbos in the North communicate with their neighbours, I can understand why they are getting slaughtered like rams..You are uncultured and ignorant. I have many Igbos mates and they are no way as ignorant and ill-mannered as you are. Why the aggression and insults? Can u not disagree with a comment without drawing the sword? For once I wish I were a fanatical Muslim from the North, I would have a good excuse to send you where u belong, Onye ara!

  • @Tampinu

No it is the manner that the Igbos have adopted after being inflicted with the worst treatment by an Evil Collusion between the North and their British Masters. Your attempt to pin your desire to see the igbo suffer on my previous comment is another exhibition of how, in your stupidity, you think other readers are stupid. You have and will always be a hater; but guess what, we do not care. Every now and again you will get a Black Mamba like me spit a little venom in your eyes.

  • @chung1chu yeye dey smell...Onye Oshi!

  • "..there was no basis for Nigerian unity." ----- Yakubu Gowon. Dodan Barracks, Lagos. August 1, 1966.

  • Is this the greedy man who wanted to secede eastern states from nigeria beacause the newly(at the time) found oil reserves and claim all the riches for himself and his half-breed light skin narcist wife?

  • @Paskamees One would think that it is those who kill others in order to confiscate their resources and properties that are highly demonised with greed. Those who fit the bill are called "nigerians." How much of their property and resources have they shared with those they exploit and are parasites to their wealth? They have gained nothing from their association than backstabbing, backbiting, malicious character-assassination, treachery, hatred, stealing, killing and destroying against them.

  • @Paskamees

Again the idiots show themselves. Did you ask yourself why Nigeria did not let Biafra go? I'm guessing you would say it has nothing to do with the oil. You call his wife "half-breed", "light skin", do you have problems with the way you look? Just because you have an ugly, stinking motor park prostitute for a mother doesn't give you the right to insult your superiors. See a psychiatrist or better still kill yourself. Your self hatred is not going to do you any good.

  • What did Gowon and the British lead a million Nigerians including Chadians to? Quick visit to the evil-beyond. Criminals and idiots are indeed a havoc-causing, destructive and sorrow-purposed, deadly combination.

  • Ojukwu is our father where ever he stand is where we will stand

  • Cowards, allways controversial bcos of people like you we loose the war

el pueblo unido jamas sera vencido.che guevara

united , you will be invincible

fools sitting there direspecting the only hero you had

  • BCOS OF PEOPPLE LIKE PHOENIXCHI28 IGBO PEOPLE LOST THE WAR

  • proper revolutionaries do not sell out their own people and join forces with the same people who caused their death, how does this man sleep at night? No wonder he hasnt written his memoirs - he's probably too embarrassed.

Now he's shamelessly endorsing IBB - igbo people wake up and understand this man never had your interest at heart he is a selfish megalomaniac

  • @phoenixchi28 Very good question. Why is he endorsing the devils like IBB? UmuIgbo, I know the wounds are still fresh but PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES! Igbos have been taken for a ride for too long!

  • @bruin03 Another pathetic lie that he endorsed IBB. Stop mis-interpreting the man's statements, Nigerian liar.

  • @phoenixchi28

A few corrections and I hope you learn. Ojukwu did not lead anybody to death. Ojukwu answered the call of his people, given his position at the time, to withdraw from the evil men who were slaughtering Innocent south-easterners. After answering the call, he led the people in the defence of their land. Although we lost (any body with any brain who has the ability and seeks to learn, knows why we lost) we fought bravely against all odds and held out for 3 years and will fight again

  • only in nigeria could a man like this have the nerve to show his face in public after leading 3 million of his people to their death, why did this man not comitt suicide after his defeat, all great revolutionaries are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their people, but not this coward and then you have some deluded igbos still following this coward.

In a country where people have an iota of intelligence this man would have been shot the minute he set foot back on nigerian soil

  • @phoenixchi28 He did not lead them to their death,He was just a youth @ 33,that carried the burden of his people. He Never Started the war Gowan did.Try to research more before writting silly stuffs.this man is a living legend

  • @fffwoj How did he not start the war when he declared martial law in the Eastern Region, made himself an undemocratically elected despot, and gave himself sole control of the Eastern Regions resources, and was responsible for killing his own cousin, Ifeajuna, and any other Igbo leader who dared ask him questions?

True, the Nigerians were not much better but Ojukwu. was no saint or messiah.

  • @bruin03 Was Gowon democratically elected? Gowon is the despot here for illegally and criminally removing a legitimately constituted government of Aguiyi Ironsi giving himself sole control of Nigeria. Gowon and cohorts are criminals that should have been shot after trial for killing a host of innocent people in waves of heinous genocide. They all remain criminals. Don't even touch Ifeajuna's case. Go and read relevant books to that. Ojukwu never gave any others to kill Ifeajuna, Nigerian liar.

  • @bruin03

If you clear your mind of prejudice and hatred, you will answer your question by yourself and reprimand yourself for putting up such a stupid argument. Look at the events that led Biafra to attempt to break from Nigeria and tell me where Ojukwu went wrong. Imagine how you and your people would feel when tens of thousands of your innocent relatives are murdered and shipped back to you. I know you do not know this as you are ignorant but the Nigerian Army attacked Biafra.

  • @bruin03 , You know accusing someone of an act, when there is no record to prove it means nothing.you said Ojukwu Killed his brother, where in history has it being published that he was arrested or even convicted for the mother of his brother. Also, if you don't know Nigerian history you ought to know that, he was the governor general of the eastern province before the war commenced, he was in charge of the safety and security of all easterner at tht time, he was more or less your governor.

  • @phoenixchi28

I know you don't know a brave man when you see one. I know you do not understand politics either. From your statement "In a country where people have an iota of intelligence this man would have been shot the minute he set foot back on nigerian soil" you have just Insulted over 140 million people suggesting they lack even an iota of intelligence. I guess you are the only smart Nigerian. OLODO!

  • @phoenixchi28,u are a fool by saying a thing like that,i wont blame u 4 ur ignorant.go and do a proper reseach.this man is the only nigerian{biafra} living legend as far as history is concern.a person who use all his father"s wealth to fight 4 the freedow of his people, yet he was disappointed{sabotaged} by the same people he love most.if u are 4rm lbo tribe ur comment shows that ur fathers are among those who sabotazied the dream of this greatest biafra hero.

  • we know all of u.{asu imi go die} i believed that if Ojukwu use his father''s money then to run a business of his own like others, he could ve be the richest person in nigerian today as his father was the richest nigerian then.go back to history fool.

  • @amatyable/fayahsoul u are all idiots, if your fathers are sm people in Igbo land they would have known that Ojukwu The IKEMBA of the Igbo is the man to respect.I don't want to take you serious 'cos unu amaroife, unu bu ezigbo ndiala. If you would'nt mind go and read the story of this great man of Igbo land you will find out that you have embarrassed yourselves.Igbo amaro Eze thats the reason we are the way are in that nation. see how the other tribes that recognize their elders progress take

  • @komasota1 God, i did not insult My only man like a brother? Where was that? Some of my comments don't reach me cos i have a watcher, i would have replied to this. I think in you tube, i always stand in defenece, i have no negative conduct outstaning. Why did you make this coment, what did i say? • ofcourse Ojukwu speaks Yoruba fluently. Born in Zungeru, raised in Lagos. On the streets of Lagos, he hawked palm frond fans for his mother. Also he went to high school in Lagos.

  • Ojukwu does not whort this silly talks around. What is eze ndigbo gburu gburu means for God sake. A yoruban cannot abuse his chief like this. Shame unto some of this fools. Azigba kwa ndi asi unu.

  • I had no idea Ojukwu speaks yoruba. He sounds so fluent though

  • IKEMBA you are the father and will always remain the father of Biafra forever in the name of Chineke , Amen

  • where is bianca and the kids? Ojukwu claimed that he is still a young man, sad papa ojukwu, you are old now, you cannot hid your age and your face .

l like you but the bible really teach about God's government in dan 2;44 that will bring end all these government.

please be assured that King solomon said everything is vanity and fear the true God and keep his commandments.Eccl 12:13.Enyimba forgewt politics and preach the word from the bible that will give you life and you will be free at last

  • APGA soon will take over all the biafran state in nigeria EBEANO!!!!!

  • look at his teeth.you can never be a leader

  • @dire1231 watch ur tongue

  • @tweenthyfourseventow Easy talk. Read the history and stop falling for baseless accusations of the criminals that constitute nigeria. Easterners never expected the sudden thrust of vicious attacks on them because they were not in tune with the prior intense resentments. Iyts different now.

  • @tweenthyfourseventow Many successful revolutions were continuous until the purpose is achieved. Biafra is a continuous revolution. Nothing made American revolutionaries more prepared than the mighty army of King George 111 of England in 1776. You cannot build an army against a country within the same country. The mind is very resourceful having said that.

  • @tweenthyfourseventow The only way the youngre generation can understand more of the past is hearing from the elders. Ask your elders and those involved. You can also read them in books. Check individual and collective roles of both sides. Never succumb to the insinuations of your enemy. When they say Ojukwu declared the war unprepared, do they mean he should declare it and only must equip himself first? Was it the declaration or when it was done?

  • @tweenthyfourseventow Does a man wait and get prepared before he defends himself from a sudden vicious assault? Biafra's traducers work day and night in thought and action to change the facts and ultimately defeat the truth, but that task from the the beginning of man, is yet to record one success.

  • @tweenthyfourseventow Does the end justify the means? Do you judge a man by what he did or its outcome? Who determines the time when things happen? Could Hebrew revolt against the Roman Empire in 70 A.D. and that led by Bar Chocba (son of the star) in 332 A.D be adjudged wrong? Is the oppressed wrong for defending himself against his oppressor? Do you blame the innocent and not the wicked?

  • i'd never had him speak for the first time...i think he is clear and can make correct use of english language...

  • "..we continued to invest in Nigeria, and placed all our security of life as well as of property in the hands of Nigerian Government and Nigerian Constitution. In 1966 our folly became real tragedy when massacre followed massacre in May, June, July, August, September and October of that year. We lost over 30,000 of our kith and kin. We had to resettle over 2 million refugees, our people who had fled from all parts of Nigeria." -- Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu at the OAU. August 5, 1968.

  • "By 30 May 1967, when Biafra seceded, not only was Nigeria neither happy nor harmonious, but it had for five previous years stumbled from crisis to crisis, and had three times already come to the verge of disintegration. In each case, although the immediate spark had been political, the fundamental cause had been the tribal hostility embedded in this enormous and artificial nation." --- Frederick Forsyth in "The Biafra Story" page 13, 1969.

  • idejimba ndi IGBO, IKEMBA ODUMUEGWU OJUKWU , EZE NDI EZE 1.

  • AWESOME I didn't know Ojukwu speak fluent yoruba... I guess he want the best for Nigeria with all its people getting the fair share of its wealth. No need for separation, if you vie for presidency I will vote for you.

  • @Spongyb This is not awesome i happens to have met him face to face and he ojukwuu speaks yoruba more than yoruba too bcos he was born and brought up in lagos island .

  • @bktundekole I didn't know that.. Thanks!

  • Ojukwu was not born in Lagos, he was born in the north. He only attended high school there; King's College. This was back in the days when leaders spoke at least 2 of the 3 main languages beside English. Most people don't know that Babangida speaks Igbo fluently.

  • @bktundekole He was not born in Lagos Island. He was born in Zungeru in Niger State. He speaks fluent Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.

  • what a hero? he is even more healthier than all the past and present presidents of nigeria even though they isolate him from his true rights. ojukwu is a hero. how many war lords do you still see alife today.. nwokem aa wei say ojukwu no be hero, otara okpukpu enwe.

  • "The Igbos are the most loyal people in the world. They always give to whoever is ready to do the job and say, "Go ahead and do it and report back to us." That is the Igbo for you. And for as long as you do what you have been asked to do and you do it creditably, they will give you total support." ---- Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Tell Magazine. September 18, 2000.

  • This is my king for ever. I wish one of us was closed in a hole surrened by wild animal see what we can do. He flew out for our good and do you think that if he did not leave there will be people in the south today. Anyone that says he did wrong, will take a lead if war should break out again.

  • LEGEND..

  • To me he his not a hero. A true hero don't loose and run like a girl, leaving his people behind for genocide. To me he his the reason why the entire south today is under the suppresion of the northern military

  • w4814252 which one be we southerners?you and me no that is only one ethnic group fought the hole nigeria, so reverse that word we southerners, why didnt other southerners fought there own war?when ojukwu declare southeast state of biafra?,others have chance to brake out too but they joined hand 2gether to fight biafra, ojukwu he is a hero to his people and the world at large..

  • @w4814252

    Ignorance is a disease.
