Takedown is easier with the standard length one.

You want to have less angles when firing lead-ammunition, so that the rifling can grasp the bullet like conventional hill-and-valley rifling. Back in the times of muskets and muzzle-loading cannons, small arms used pentagonal rifling, while cannons used heptagonal or octagonal rifling, due to different size of projectile and velocity.

Ya know, I agree with you most of the way, But I do believe that having a 12rd magazine for a 1911 is good. Because in a high stress situation, your fine motor skills can go out the window. And you may not be able to aim all your shots well enough, So it's always good to have a little extra. Especially since most attacks these days are multi personnel, So you always want to be able to protect yourself with as much fire power as you can have, provided the weapon doesn't deter them.

@TheRiflemanChannel well iv noticed its just seems to be a tighter fit and i have noticed on the non guided its got a litteral cunt hair difference in the slack of the barrel. the guide rod seems to seat the barrel better but there are more theories and ppl who defend both sides of the spectrum but im no expert but this IS how iv seen it i own a springfield gi ww2 milspec and have shot a few others with guid rod W/O but the accuracy is not.... @TheRiflemanChannel really that noticable it does seem better but not good enough to truly say it is a better design and its claimed to feed ammo well i havent had feeding issues or seen from either one other than bum reloads. The pistol runs smoother and supposed to stay tighter longer cuz it doesnt just rely on the frame rails this is where the accuracy comes from im assuming i guess but i think there both 1911's and are tough as nails so who gives a shit lol my pref is standard no rod >>>>

@TheRiflemanChannel because of the break down if i needed do i blind folded i can do my GI in about 65 seconds was my fastest and there is no tools needed and until this gun fails me which i doubt it will i dont see a full length guide rod being a significant improovment on the gun i lovemy springfield itsmy baby its a shame i havent gotn to shoot in over a year :( i think she thinks im seing another gun its just not true dlsports.com/1911_full_length_guide_rods .html

Ya know, I agree with you most of the way, But I do believe that having a 12rd magazine for a 1911 is good. Because in a high stress situation, your fine motor skills can go out the window. And you may not be able to aim all your shots well enough, So it's always good to have a little extra. Especially since most attacks these days are multi personnel, So you always want to be able to protect yourself with as much fire power as you can have, provided the weapon doesn't deter them.
