To me that was the cool thing about this setup, I was only pulling 55 amps on a Jetti Opto speed control. I liked the setup because of the performance and efficiency. Now keep in mind you got tons of top end speed but the batteries were 4000 mah so it was heavy. Those size batts kept voltage very well. She punched a good hole in the sky and needed alot of space to fly. With todays C ratings you could go with 3000 mah packs and get a good balance of flight time and voltage.
I guess going with more voltage just allows for less current draw while maintaining the power. I have an extra 5S I can try dropping in to see what current my system will draw. I have the Mega 16/20/2 so it's not supposed to handle much more than it is, but these durn motors are tough!
I was using the Mega 16/25/3 so that is probably why my Jetti 70amp controller was fine. You may be pushing the motor and your batteries harder than they need to. I would change motors for less amp draw for more power and speed. How fast are you getting up to with your current setup?
Short flight times, but wicked fast and pretty light. With the 3100 KVM rating of the motor, I use 6x4 props max. 5.25x6.25 also. The system was pulling near 900W static tested with a wattmeter. I don't know anyone else with a funjet around here, so there is nobody else to compare (have fun) with!
You can do cheaper now and maybe even better. This video was shot a while ago and there are several parts that you can get for less now. Also you can scale down a bit and go alot cheaper. It takes a lot to get one of these to go this fast biut for around 136mph you can scale it back. It is the extra 15mph that is hard to reach.
i just started electric and it costed me , including my new nitro plane about 1000 euros 1500 dollars , and i'm a little dissapointed about LiPo performance
(man u are weak this is terror4u im running 7 cells doing 158 level and 166 at a dive man keep up will post video next week bla in you face ) Was not sure yur comment was meant for me or if you were responding to someone else so I figured I would ask rather than assume you were talking to me. Who were you saying was weak and why?
By the way sounds like your setup is fast..nice job man! What setup are you running? what kinda amps you pulling?
go to rcgroups . com and look me up. Just sign up there and look for my screen name Wingtips24. From there I can shoot you an email address or something.
MrAshLloyd you have to set the control rates lower so you can fly smoothly and you do need to have some decent reflexes cause it can get away from you if you are not careful. I do alot of passes before I really gun it to be sure everything is running right. Go to RCgroups, com and look me up there is you want to talk some on this Wingtips24
What speed controller are you using? I think the 80A I have on my 4S setup is already maxed out... Hmmmm
:)

No clue what the speed is.
Setup is Mega 16/20/2, 80A ESC, 4S 2200
