Those are some nice looking goldfish you are feeding to the owl, fox, and raccoon! Have you given any thought to just going to a bait store and buying a couple dozen shiners? BTW, your Owls Dancing video was exceptional!
haha. have u found any owl pellets in ur yard? lol. they regurgitate. in science i went through owl pellets (basicially like owl vomit) gross!!!!!!!!!!!!
I try to terll one of the trainers at work that Barred Owls eat fish....which he denies...perfect proof over and over!!! Great footage thank you....(hey btw...if you have a problem with mother nature hunting in your fish pond...get deer netting...or get over it!
I'd cry if I lost one of my fish like that, some of them are older than me! The owl was bad enough, then I spot a cat, and a raccoon? You'd find me hysterical sat by the pond with a baseball bat! I'm going out to put a net over my koi before I go to bed tonight...
There are some Barred living near my house, I have seen them fly and heard them, but nevr seen them close up. Is there any way I could attract them to a place I could finally get a look at them?
Ah yes, the Victory Screech, haha. I have burrowing owls in my yard. During the day, they just hang out by the burrow, but after dark, I hear them all the time. Now tht I know what that scary sound is, it just makes me laugh and say "Score!" hehe. I'm waiting for a new batch of babies now.
Your young owls are so fun to watch in the video. I built a barred owl nesting box with cameras attached and mounted it on my big front tree but never got a nesting pair. I have to settle for just feeding the adults. Looking forward to your new baby videos.
Wow, can you come over here and set up some cameras? haha. Really, I do wish I knew about stuff like that. It really shows in you videos. They're very professional looking.
All I did was stick a couple perches in the ground. I did put up a tiny fence and an endangered bird sign up, which I don't like, but some man with his pit bull would walk by and let his dog run right for the owls and stand on the burrow, even after asking him to stop. I'm glad they picked my yard. I can protect them.
Might be tough to put cameras in burrows but sure would be cool if you could. Thanks for your compliments. I'm having lots of fun learning to edit and add music to the videos.
Sorry to hear about that inconsiderate guy. We both have some lucky owls - and lucky us.
Thanks! Yes I restock often and the owl(s) keep coming back. A loud scream followed by hoots a few feet outside my window woke me last night. I looked out and there he/she was.
You never know, maybe next year you'll get a family there. One of the adult males may stay behind and choose a wife. Hope it works out for you. I'm sure you'll get great videos from it.
I'm glad you like my little family. Can't wait to see new babies this year if all goes well. Their fist litter never made it, but they haven't given up. They've shown signs of parenthood again, so I'm hopeful. I'll post more if they ever bubble out of the ground again. hehe.
Raccoon wouldn't mind getting a few fishies too. :-)

Very cool video. Do you have to replace the fish in your pond? Or do they self-sustain?
WhereDoTheDucksGo 1 year ago
Lol, do you just keep refilling the pond, just so you could video tape the owls taking your fish.

I had no idea owls did this. I thought they hunted by sound, but I guess they can see the fish in the light.
