Was wondering where this would go. Very simple, punchy idea with at least a reasonably intelligent protagonist (how he tests his senses) if a tad more curious than cautious; well executed with the daylight/pitch contrast between back room and kitchen light-spill. And utterly chilling (brrrr)... the final element (no spoilers) wasn't even necessary...wander too far out, the power cord comes loose, and then what?
I have trawled the internet looking for this for years. I was about to write to channel 4 to ask them where I could find it. It caught me at the right moment years ago, I was home alone in the middle of the night. It has stayed with me since. It's so interesting that its had the same affect on different people. I havent watched it here yet because I hope its as good as I remembered it. Its mad that im almost nervous to press play. Thanks for the post.
:D I'm not usually affected by horror films; but this totally freaked me out on Ch4 one night! The shot with guy in foreground with monster appearing in window in background...AAaaargh! Unforgettable..brilliantly done.
I am very happy to see this again. I saw it on the old Atomfilms a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. I would dearly love to purchase a copy in better resolution though!

A cool idea, reminds me of Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. In fact I'd be suprised if the writer of this script hadn't read that book.
