hey people, the most efficient and best way to become an auto technician is to teach yourself. buy they today's technician series from delmar learning and answer all questions, and then take the ase examinations. dont fool around with community college, its a waste unless you want to transfer to a four year program or want to become service manager. good luck in such a low paying industry and have fun dealing with all the grumpy assholes in the shop.

I totally agree. I have been a tech for 5 years. This is the lowest paid trade. Not only that you have to spend money just to be able to work. I also seen this industry fall down the drain. I have now been unmployed for over a year. It's a good thing to learn but not a good way to make a living.
