hickory shad? been catchin bait for awhile caught alot of bluebacks there some stinkin fish...great bait...did i hear someone say they ate them?? what time a year do they run spawn?

Looks fun. The hickories are already running strong up the Cashie River in Bertie County, NC. Caught 5 yesterday in an hour or so. Fun sport.

Those aren't shad. They are skip jack herring.

They are hickory shad, we catch them yearly as they make their spawning run from the ocean. We dont have skipjack. We have blueback herring.
