  • Hi, well on Dec. 5th i will be in for onther surgery to TRY & find my ovary with a cyst on it. I just had surgary on Valentines day 2011 when my bowel was plasterd to my right side. I hope they get this overy & cyst then I will not have to worry about big cyst growing on my women stuff. (everthang else, already removed0 I dont know why but I am EXTREMLLY SCARED THIS TIME!! Hope i make it back to tell u about it!! The Dr is saying stuff like 'its so hard with the mount of adheishons i have!!

  • Thanks! I really wish I had seen this vid 2.5 years ago when my Gastro Doc MISDIAGNOSED me with Crohns.

1.5 yrs was wasted 'trying' all medication available, even the 'more risky' ones....it almost cost me my life when I became extremely ill. I had a bowel obstruction and my weight feel to 82 pounds.

    The surgery was a success!!

My surgeon was surprised when he opened me up and discovered all the ADHESIONS! He said it DIDN'T even look like I had Crohns!my problem stemmed from the adhesions!

  • Hi, I have had several abdominal surgery..and 2 bowel obstruction...I can't imagine anyone NOT going to the hospitol....It IS SOOOOO PAINFUL. I definitly new something was wrong. After first obstruction, went home for 2 weeks and had another one!! The emergency room ladt said it was NOT obstucted AND GAVE ME A SHOT, i TOLD HER i WOULD be back< because i knew i had a bowel obstruction...SURE ENOUGH I was back in 2hrs in horrific.pain..so much pain I passed out for a min. in the waiting room.

  • @GreekldyAngeleki ... If you want faster service at the hospital, PASS OUT in the hospital's washroom...That happened to me when I had alhesions/blockage...Initially I had a LONG wait until I fainted in front of strangers in the washroom...Luckily, these strangers helped me and I was taken care of right away. :)

  • @vydz4fun Have you had any trouble since yr insudent? I actually had another adhesion surgery on Valentines day 2011. NG tube and everything. Dr said see you in about 14months.(because it just comes back) visious cycle)

  • @GreekldyAngeleki..... I have had no problems since my surgery in April 2011(17 months ago).... I really hate when Doctors tell people WHEN people will get sick again.(mind over matter, doc!).. My Gastro doc told me if I didn't take a certain medication that I'd be back to the way I was in a year... I refused to take it because of the extremely dangeous side effects (like death-wtf)....I feel heathy and strong...& he was wrong! ....and NG TUBES SUCK!! Pardon the pun!lolol

  • @vydz4fun DaNG...we had surgery only ,months apart. Have you had the NG put in while you were awake? I have once. The other 2 times they put it in in surgery. I was in hospitol on valentine day for surgery because i cudnt go POOPIE...I mean it was Spegatti poop. They adheishons were squeezzing my sm bowel so tight, Dr. said MY WHOLE SM BOWEL AND SOME LARGE WAS "PLASTERD TO MY PELVIC WALL" That was his words in his report. so far so good tho with me right now!! how old r u? Im 45

  • @GreekldyAngeleki Yes, I have had the NG tube 3 x....OMG..what an experience that was!!! The 1st x, the nurse tried to insert it with NO lubricant while I was extremely dehydrated! Lets just say, it wasn't very pretty...lol. I screamed really loud...Scared the heck out of the RN & sprayed blood everywhere when she took it out!. 2nd x was easier, but it fell out.(oh ya) 3rd time I was in surgery(also got an IV line inserted into my heart artery(weird & scarey)...I am 39 years old :)

  • @vydz4fun I meant April 2010..lol

  • thanks for your information miss jane

  • MissJanie, I've had painful abdominal adhesions for many years, but I've never met anyone else with this condition. I'd like to ask a question...

Have you considered physical therapy to prevent future obstructions?

Actually, I have lots of questions, but I don't want to overwhelm you.

I hope you'll continue to be okay.

  • @faething Hi! I haven't thought about physcial therapy because my surgeon didnt mention that as something that would help. Have you had that done? Did it help? I am so sorry that you are having this issue. They are so painful. Have you had any more surgery due to the adhesions?

  • I'm glad you were able to get to the hospital and get this taken care of. I hope you're feeling 100% now!

  • I should have thought to check YouTube to get the scoop. So glad you are okay! I wonder, was this the cause of all your previous issues? In any case I hope you are completely healed and 100% after this!

    Donna:)

  • i've had 2 abdominal surgeries -- RNY and then gallbladder/abdominal hernias -- so I am definitely at risk and this video was VERY informative for me. THANK YOU!!!

i asked one of the general surgery residents at my hospital about bowel obstructions and she said that before they do surgery to fix it, they insert an nasogastric tube to relieve the gas/pressure. that sounds VERY unpleasant to me -- did you get an NG tube?

  • I had an NG tube for my RNY. I hated it!

  • Thanks for the information, Janie.

I know many were praying for you. I let my husband know when I learned about your situation. I am sure he prayed for you as well.

We need to know what may happen and to contact our surgeon.

    I know that my surgeon or an associate doctor will contact me within fifteen minutes should I have issues. Tell your surgeon;

Thank you Dr D, we all love her.

  • Haven't been online to hear about your surgery. I am SOOO happy that you are on the mend and that you are now doing well. Thanks for making everyone aware of the symptoms. It's good to pay attention and not ignore things. BIG HUGS Janie!

  • Hi MissJanie, glad it all turned out to be manageable, Have a great week!

  • so glad you came out of this ok feel better soon and keep the videos coming love you God Bless

  • So sorry this happened to u. I had adhesions froms a hysterectomy. My intestines adhered to the abdomin wall so the intestines could not contract properly to eliminate the waste. Very painful - in my case I had vomiting, weight loss, distention & diaherra.

Janie I want u to realize that it is very important that u do not exercise for at least 6 wks. Plse let this heal cause if not u will end up with more scar tissue. Be extra careful w/ steps. If u need me, I'm here for u. Feel Better.

  • Sorry this happened to you Janie... But I'm glad to hear you're going to be fine & things came out okay.. Now you take care of yourself & rest well.. hugs

  • I am glad you are OK. Thanks for doing this video.

  • Wow, Janie....I'm sooooo glad that you're ok. I think it's wonderful that you did this video - I think it will be VERY helpfil to people post-surgery who might deal with this type of complication. I wish you a very speedy recovery, and I love your positive attitude despite having emergency surgery! You're such a ray of light. :) Feel better soon!

  • I just knew that my passing gas is a good thing and a sign of a healthy intestine. Just need to convince my wife. Glad everything turned out so well.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree with you about adominal surgery complications,I know I will still have WLS surgery even though I have gallstones now. Complications happen from any surgery ...I'm so happy you got this taken care of quickly and that your feeling better.

  • Oh My GOSH~~~~ I am sooooooo glad you are OK sweetie! I think it's fabulous that you are educating people that this could possibly occur~ Rest and recover quickly.....(((((HUGS)))))

  • I am so glad you are doing better.

About the stomach noises... my stomach makes noise pre-op... and I hear about people's stomachs make noises afterwards when there is no problem - so is it like a DIFFERENT sound? like stronger, or louder??

  • didn't know you'd had surgery...glad you are doing well now. hope you continue to improve rapidly! and thanks for the info on symptoms.

  • OMG! Hope you feel better soon!

  • Thanks Janie! So sorry you had to go through this but super glad you are doing alright. I think the most important thing you say is to follow your instincts...if something feels 'wrong' be assertive in getting it checked sooner rather than later. I think your quick response is a big part of why you were able to be treated and feeling better and recovering so quickly. Prayers to you for a continued speedy recovery!

  • I have a friend that had this happen to her the first time about 6 months out from her bypass and now she is 3 year out and has had this happen 4 more time. It seem to me that if it happens once you might want watch it could happen again. You are so great. Amy

  • BTW: YES AGAIN~ it is their JOB!! & don't take NO... preach it! LOL :)

  • Miss Janie!! thank you for this post... I experienced this last year... and boy-oh-boy, did I investigate all about adhesions... nose on the button: Adhesions are strands or of scar tissue that form in response to ANY abdominal surgery and extend beyond the specific site of incision... I am SO happy you are on the mend!! Rest well & take care... xox

BTW: you are SUCH a blessing!!
