The MBA is so light never gets hot and is super fast. The screen is clearer and is the future of notebooks. The MBP is better in the sense of storage and ram etc. But this new flash drive technology is great! Just my opinion.

so basically the macbook pro is not the 2011 one? coz if it was it would come with iOS lion not snow leopard... there might be a difference there. Another thing is if the macbookpro is used/older it would be a bit slower than a new macbook air if thats new and vice versa
@ladygagarocks17 no, he probably has the early 2011 mbp. I have the early 2011 version and it came with Snow Leopard. Lion didn't come out until mid 2011
I was at best buy yesterday and I went to the apple computers and they have them running all day and I felt the MacBook air and it wasn't hot the only one that was burning up was the iMacs

The macbook air is the best computer I have ever used. I would really recommend it as a laptop for a student. It's lightweight, but still manages to be a little beast inside.

I regret buying the MacBook Pro 13 Inch versus the MacBook Air 13 Inch. My Pro seems way slower than it should be and the Air would have more that completed that tasks that I use my Pro for and is a lot more appealing in terms of aesthetics to me. I wish I could do a swap with Apple.
Hi there, I am a graduate design student and been using my Toshiba laptop throughout my 5 years of studying, but I'm wanting a new laptop for the new year. I have an imac 24inch which I am getting rid of as well as my Toshiba laptop, because I am moving overseas. I really like the thinnest of the mac book air considering it'll be easier for me to lug around from home to work, but hence being a designer my main concern is if it would be fast enough for rendering and 3D modelling programs? thanks
@Nakedpetals i get where your coming from. Theres most probably going to be a Macbook Pro refresh (major redesign) come Q1 of 2012. So, if you can hold out - then it'd be worth the wait. That said, the MBA's are pretty beastly - if you haven't already done so, check the speed tests and photoshop tests which i've done on the channel :)

@VlogdelaLula I highly recommend Toshiba's! They are a very reliable brand. I have the A350 satellite, it's easy to upgrade rams compared to apple products, I'm a huge apple fan but all the rendering programs I used are only capable with windows. All my university friends had Hewlett Packard laptop's and every one of them had problems with them within a year. I've had mine for four years with no problem but defiantly get an extension on the warranty. Hope this helps :)

@halshazly I don't believe that the ssd can be upgraded in the Air but science you are a photographer I would strongly recomend the Macbook Pro because of the screen, processor, and the pure power/ storage of the device.
@halshazly The SSD can indeed be upgraded in the Airs but at a cost. OWC offer flash storage solutions for the MBAs - google 'OWC for Macbook Air' and you'll get your answer ;).

My Uni wants me to get a 15-inch, but I've been using various size laptops/netbooks recently with no problem, plus I prefer the lighter weight, so i can can carry my lens, camera aswell as the laptop in one bag, I'm thinking I'll get the the Air/Macbook Pro 2012 (if they do merge) and an 21-inch iMac. That will suite my photography nicely.

For me, the price of either will be the same for what I want, so it comes down to what I use it for. I'm not going to be doing any real heavy lifting with my laptop, so I would go with the MacBook Air . I like the screen better and it seems more practical ( that glossy screen is a bitch). It comes down to what you want though

I have the A350 satellite, it's easy to upgrade rams compared to apple products, I'm a huge apple fan but all the rendering programs I used are only capable with windows. All my university friends had Hewlett Packard laptop's and every one of them had problems with them within a year. I've had mine for four years with no problem but defiantly get an extension on the warranty. Hope this helps :)

Great video! I was wondering of how the Macbook air 13 compares to the 11, aside from the battery which I believe lasts only 5 hours in the Macbook air 11. I need the laptop mostly for business but since I’m a photographer too, I am looking for a powerful machine to put everything on and be able to use it anywhere, since I’m hardly at home! Can the SSD be upgraded in the Macbook air? Thanks

@halshazly I don't believe that the ssd can be upgraded in the Air but science you are a photographer I would strongly recomend the Macbook Pro because of the screen, processor, and the pure power/ storage of the device.

@halshazly The SSD can indeed be upgraded in the Airs but at a cost. OWC offer flash storage solutions for the MBAs - google 'OWC for Macbook Air' and you'll get your answer ;).

My Uni wants me to get a 15-inch, but I've been using various size laptops/netbooks recently with no problem, plus I prefer the lighter weight, so i can can carry my lens, camera aswell as the laptop in one bag, I'm thinking I'll get the the Air/Macbook Pro 2012 (if they do merge) and an 21-inch iMac. That will suite my photography nicely.

@SWEETJELLO246 Also, I'm in contact with tons of professional photographers on Google+ and many of they are getting Airs now. Actually a lot seem to be getting 11-inch ones! Yikes. :D I'm gonna wait though in see what the 2012 ones will be.

For me, the price of either will be the same for what I want, so it comes down to what I use it for. I'm not going to be doing any real heavy lifting with my laptop, so I would go with the MacBook Air . I like the screen better and it seems more practical ( that glossy screen is a bitch). It comes down to what you want though
