  • I'd shoot it out. problem solved.

  • What does that mean where it says it still has some daytime left?

  • @logster1203, ummm it means you can see the whole fixture before it gotten dark -_-

  • Can anyone explane me what this "Mercury-vapor lamp" do?

  • @goorance it's a Lamp...does what any other lamp does...Produce light.

  • Just to put it out there that's an HPS or High Pressure Sodium lamp.

Mercury vapor lamps put out a bluish light.

  • @syphilistic, that is a mercury vapor lamp, not a High Pressure Sodium, if you still think it's HPS, then answer this, why does it comes on green after ignition, then turns pure white after full brightness, does a HPS comes on green after ignition?

  • A MV lamp will turn pink when warming up, please tell me what colour the light is from it when fully warmed up.

  • it turns on pink and greenish color after ignition then pure white at full bright

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf ok then its MH. thats not MV

  • @67tr876 no its MV....

  • @form109 No way in hell thats MV my freand.

  • @67tr876 how did you come to the conclusion that this is not MV?

  • @form109 Well i could be wrong but its just i have not seen a MV lamp with that color. It should be white or a blue green. But not look like HPS.

  • @67tr876 it's not the Lamp....Digital Camera's tend to incorrectly render the color of Mercury Vapor Lamps, while white or blue green to our eyes the camera will render it as excessively green or yellow.

  • OK in that case it is MV It just looks like HPS on the video

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf Sometimes a HPS starts out green/white after ignition, then turns to its Amber Color. Mercury Vapors start out green after ignition then go to their bluish/white color.

  • Yes it is HPS, however MV can also be coated and produce white light.

  • @syphilistic Digital Cameras tend to Incorrectly Render Mercury Vapor Lamps in color...often they will show up as Yellowish or Excessively Green.

  • @syphilistic If its orange, it could still be a Mercury Vapor. Most mercury vapor lamps are bluish white, some of the new mercury vapor bulbs are different colors, so it can still be a Mercury Vapor.

  • lol is that 50hz lol i know its 60hz but lol

  • holy crap that is noisy!

  • Try to replace the ballast or even take out the ballast and coat it in shellac, But by no means don't replace it, Mercyury vapor is the best light source and new fixtures are not available anymore, The bulbs are though and will be, Mercury vapor puts off the most pleasant soft white or blue/green type of outdoor lighting.

  • Horrible fixture too. Tell your power company you want a full cut-off fixture.

  • Cut off fixtures suck, dont listen to those IDA people they are idiots!

  • I don't know. I like the full cut-off fixtures because it gets rid of the glare. I'm no expert, but I installed these and more of the light is on the ground.

  • this is not a mercury bulb

  • i can assure you this is mercury vapor light

  • Are you sure that's a mercury? Looks like a sodium. Anyway, yup, pretty annoying ballast buzz.

  • yup, if it was a sodium light the color on this video would showed a lot more yellow than this one

  • i know sometimes Camera's sometimes distort the color of the lamp...is the lamp Clear and Green when lig,or does it have a white coating inside and lights in a White color?

  • yes the lamp bulb is clear and when the light comes on after ignition, it comes on green then white

  • is very noisy

  • How can you sleep with this loud noise?

  • veeeeeery carefully XD

  • the buzzing is loud but i doubt it can be heard inside the house.

  • wow thats a bit annoying, but i guess you get used to it after a while

  • yea, with crickets chirping plus ballast buzzing= electronic chirping XD

  • This is the extreme sound that a ballast can create:)

  • even though its buzzing like a Hornet's nest.....that is a good light you have there!!!!...dont throw it away !!..those Mercury Vapor Lamps are very reliable and in some cases can burn for 25 years or more....and they are so much better than High Pressure Sodium!

  • i don't remember the last time i've heard one of those
