Was that a warning call at :59? Does the Dad have to stay away from the babies when they are small, like with Rabbits, because he may kill them? Thank you for sharing the videos of the cute little critters!!
@cain731 Thank you. I did a little research, since I was curious. It said that "she" can re-breed after 3 days! That would not be healthy for all involved, except maybe the male (lol). I know rabbits can get pregnant as soon as they give birth. Once again, thank you for answering.
@chihuahuabulldog Thats just a bark. Chins usually do it when you annoy them. The father cant be in at first to prevent breedback....females go into heat directly after giving birth, and its stressful for them to be nursing and also pregnant. In my experience the fathers are almost always more interested in the kits than the mothers. Ive had a few mothers who have decided their duties stop at nursing.
@Kilerchuk Thank you for your answers. The breedback is also a problem with Rabbits. I found out the hard way while critter sitting for some friends!! I appreciate your time to answer my questions, and the extra info. :-)
@chihuahuabulldog well they have to be separated because if he were to try and mate with the mother again the babies may get trampled to death or injured
people need to understand that most rodents are will be about the HUMPING.. Yep, dad was normal. I'm actually surprised that he was not aggressive w/ the babies.
While this was cute, for the most part, introducing the "dad" in a rodent family will end in tears.
I know the humans involved here are smarter than that. Just..please don't ever do this... PLEASE!

woah, daddy was getting a little dirty @ 0:07 (i'm just assuming that was the male cause of the fur colour and how the little ones were around the other one, meaning the mother)
