Try buying the latest version of the apple headphones with the remote and mic. It sounds like a waste of money but it will most likely work for you.

I just got an ipod 3g 32GB and on my skype app the mic (which came with the ipod) didnt work. I could listen the other person perfectly but they couldnt hear me.

Is is broke or should I kinda install it or what?
