omg how come everytime leno is on letterman,letterman always talks bout the same thing? flying,travel... leno is the only funny one

It's called a set up. Leno prearranges with Letterman what topics to bring up as to set Leno up for his jokes. If Letterman is only talking about flight and travel, it is because Leno has said he has a joke about travel, bring up the subject to lead into the joke. Oh! You thought it was a natural conversation, not a talk show format that has worked the same way for 50 years?

No i know there is a format. He has the little card for topics... But come on the many times that Jay was on Letterman thats all he talked about

Yeah, because Leno has a joke or story about travel. Leno has told Letterman beforehand to bring up the subject of his flight over because he has a story about it. That's the way it works, It is that simple.

Like all other Comedians, the host (Dave)is given questions to ask, so that the quest(jay in these cases) can promote his routine. Didn't you know that?

I liked him better on the show when he wore a leather jacket. It would have been awesome if he told David he was there to officially announce he was going to get to permanently host the Tonight Show.

If this was 1990 this was most likely the last time Leno was on Letterman; however he may have been on once or twice more.

Leno was on Late Night in the Fall of 1991 AFTER the announcement was made. It was a booking made long in advance - Jay's Late Night bookings were scheduled on a yearly basis. Jay asked Dave is he still wanted him on and Dave said he did. Dave mentioned that Jay would be the new Tonight Show host, but Jay quickly went into a story about being on Oprah.
