I don't know if I can agree with you on that one. I'm a huge fan of premier but I think dr dre is the greatest producer in the hip hop game. The only reason I can say that is because dre has such versatility whereas you can tell a premier beat from a mile away.

Yeah, you can tell particular dre beats from a mile away but his entire style isn't like that. Almost every beat DJ Premier does has the same feel to them. I'm not saying that's a bad thing because that works for him. However I think now that he's gone so long doing beats like that, it's tough for him to do anything that sounds different because fans of his work will request that he does the same thing. Every so often dre will step outside of what you're used to and give you something crazy.

Another thing about Premier is that a lot of his style brings back that style from the 90's to the modern side of things. People are seeing enough of the old school phase out, and not in a good way, so they fiend for that old school feel. Premier is the provider for that.

We need some more producers who can make beats that still got that organic sound ya kno? DL Incognito's stuff is pretty decent at that.

Pete Rock brings the old school feel as well however he changes it up when makes beats. Don't get me wrong, I love hip hop and I'm a fan of premier, but my favorite thing about hip hop is that it keeps you guessing. It's rarely ever a surprise with premo beats.
