Ikara Colt was and continues to be underrated. Are they virtuoso's? No. Neither were The Clash or a million other bands which produced something valuable to alternative rock. I don't think they should be judged based on the minimalist approach, nor the fact that simplicity was clearly what they were after. The originality is there. They may not be able to play like Dream Theater, but they're not supposed to do so to begin with. Then again, I may be biased, because my name is Colt.
@rripp- what are they posing? This band is known for not fitting into any scene. The lead singer doesn't have a very good singing voice, but he makes cool lyrics, the drummer is good and the guitar and bass do some cool things. I respect them for making music with only the intention of making music.
i dunno man. i just don't see a lot of talent. i see people that want to be cool musicians, but don't have the substance. if you like them, then good for you, but i find them annoying.
Yeah I got that album and tried it a few times. I just couldn't bring myself to like it -and I like a fairly wide range of things. I just think they're a bit lazy and talentless. If you're gonna get up on stage you'd better have something to say that's worth hearing, and a good medium for expressing it. I find the Colt kind of disposable and casual - lazy like I said.
