Vinnies picking technique in the late 1980's was unbelievable and you can hear every single note just like the other great pickers like Al De Meola and Steve Morse
HE WOULD BE FREAKIN AWESOME IN MEGADETH!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT HE COULD DO TO THE SOLO'S IN "HOLY WARS" "HANGAR18" AND "TORNADO OF SOULS!? AND DAVE COULD PUT DOWN SOME HEAVY RYTHMS AND LET VINNIE EXPLORE!!!FUCK YEA!!!!! sorry chris broderick.
i dont think there is anyone as great a vinnie moore. he excels at every genre he plays at and has a musical ear like know one else. favorite player ever
I saw this tour, the fricken dude on bass is a small little guy, if you can believe it he`s wearing boots and the dude still measures like 5`0 lol but that dude can shred on the bass. Coolest dude in the world too. Spoke to Him and vinnie after the gig. I couldn`t get the ringing out my ear for a month:-) Best time ever.
sounds so good even on this video, I can't begin to imagine what it was like to be standing right there. The crowd was not yelling loud enough but I dont blame them. It is only long after the fact that we realize it was as good as it was ever going to get. Thank God for videos to take us back to those days. Thanks for uploading. 1991 Trivia (world wide web) was launched to the public. .

@dirtydonki NOOOOOOOOOO! he wasnt a student, but few can match AL picking technique and i believe vinnie is one................But if there was a student teacher relashionship Vinnie would be the student.....
I saw it live in 1991! have autographed ticket stub!..kewl to have stumbled onto it!...Vinnie is a timeless guitar player..what i liked about his style he maintained enough of the blues..most shredders forget theres a melody and how to bend one every now and then! not to mention..his TONE is before its time here.. reminds me of SATRIANI~
You guys wont belief what a great guy Vinnie is! I had the pleasure of sitting at one table with Vinster at a cafe in Frankfurt with him for 3 hours just chatting away while he had coffee and sandwich! Not a profanity or even a hint of vulgarity from a hard core rocker we've inevitably would expect came out from his mouth throughout the 3 hrs we sat there.
His parents are just as cool as Vinnie is. His parents were my ex-girlfriend's neighbors. His parents gave me a few autographed cds and posters by Vinnie. Really nice people.
My ex told me that when she was young Vinnie used to chase her around on her front lawn telling her she didn't have any ears LOL!
His dad was my mailman. Not sure who your ex-grilfriend is but I am from old New Castle too. 2nd St. My mother used to baby sit Vin and Sherri. Burke and Dawn were cool.
Washington Park...I can't remember which street. My best friend lived on 13th so it wasn't that, probably 10th or 11th. Played little League with him too.
saw this tour in 1991/SanFransisco, At the same year, I saw Yngwie.M 's solo live or Paul G, however the most memorial and cool live was this Meltdown tour live. The live was shown at the place called 'slims' and capacity of this place was perfect for this live too. Anyway, he had got some sort of special presence on his playing, the show was mother fuckerly awesome.
I met John Deservio on this tour. The dude is tiny, lol but he rocks that bass like a giant. Vinnie moore will always be in my top 10 best guitar players. He Tears it up. I wish Satriani would add him to the G3 Tours
Vinnie is myfavorite out of all the neo classical guys that came out in the mid 80's.
I favor his approach of using his technique to play off of the melody. I know Ynqwie broke out with this style first but I'd argue that Vinnie's style was the most tasteful.
It's true Vinnie's tone was more restrained on his earlier work, I think that added to the overall clarity of his sound back then.
yeah I agree with you about his tone. I found it hard to like his songs as much because his sound wasn't as heavy hitting as Tony Macalpine or Vai. But he is fantastic nonetheless.
macalpine and moore do have alot in common but you cant say whos better for me anyway i love them both but vinnie is way better live if you like note for note
Restrained? Haha, his tone was bloody terrible back in the early days - made his music only fit for the elevator. Which is a shame because he's probably got the best technique in the business, and listening now to his work of late, his tone is so much more beefy - it's great.
He doesn't have the best technique in the business. He's great and all but he's certainly no Guthrie Govan ;) Vinman's tone on his latest album sounds really really good btw!! Awesome player!
Yeah one thing that changed from his debut album, is his tone grew a pair of balls. I wish he would redo the first album because this makes me wonder...
But that cd doesn't have the same songs as this performance...it's full of music from later in his career. I'll probably still go pick it up but damn I wish I could get this on cd!
A friend of mine bought this bootleg video back in 92 and Vinnie just kills on the whole tape. Concider for a moment it's being shot on a old vhs analop with a shitty little mic and you can still hear every note he plays! Also the melodies still sound cool even without all those layers of harmonies.
Hi EPO65. This guy is awesome. Check out his video. Meltdown. He plays with more feel than Yngwie. I am not nocking yngwie I love yngwie but Vinnies melodies and technique are flawless.
Each to his own. I like them both. They are very different really.
Yea I know, michaels2boys... it is amazing how good quality this video actually is. Only one of million digital camera bootlegs reach this quality... well, to be honest, none of them reach this audio and visual quality. The picture might not be so excellent on this one but I've heard worse official live recordings than this sound wise!
Yeah same here, I was just getting into Yngwie and learned to play then I bought Time Odyssey and thought it might be better to study a master rather than someone who was just good. Matter of taste too I just like the variety of technique Vinnie uses. Seems to flow more whereas Yngwie kind of overplays things instead of working them out all the way through so they go with the songs.

no, i understand, but he says he knows the second one is 'check this out', so he doesn't even know that In Control is followed by the keyboard part of Prelude...
because right after the keyboard part, vinnie plays In Control rather than the entire song from 'prelude/into the future' and then he plays 'check this out' which the kid says he knows the name of this, the second song...
why vinnie doesn't play the entire into the future is beyond me, cause it's a great tune, melody, and guitar solo...

i met vinnie at the boardwalk in orangevale, ca and he signed all the work he's ever done for me, including the alice cooper 'hey stupid' and infamous vicious rumors 'soldiers of the night' i had on cd. he's a cool cat, little guy, like frank gambale!
By the way , if anybody's got a Vinnie Moore video let me know please. They're pretty hard to get ( if there are any aside from the instructional ones wich I'm starting to doubt )

i met vinnie at the boardwalk in orangevale, ca and he signed all the work he's ever done for me, including the alice cooper 'hey stupid' and infamous vicious rumors 'soldiers of the night' i had on cd. he's a cool cat, little guy, like frank gambale!

By the way , if anybody's got a Vinnie Moore video let me know please. They're pretty hard to get ( if there are any aside from the instructional ones wich I'm starting to doubt )

The first song's name is "In Control". Although it's strange because the keyboard intro belongs to "Prelude - Into The Future"

I do miss the 2nd harmony guitar part though...still it's great to see this live stuff.
