Actually, "Shirley Partridge" was not the first working mom as it says at 3:55 . That happened in 1968 with the show "Julia" where Diahann Carroll played a widowed nurse with a son.
The Dave Madden - Danny Bonaduce combo really helped make the Partridge Family less saccharine than the Brady Bunch. Gave the show a bit of an edge, but the humor was never mean-spirited.
Ah memories...being a child raised in California. I remember seeing the Partridge bus once, And as a kid I remember Danny at the movies where I was and walking down the isle to find a seat. Kids were teasing him - "There's Danny Partridge". I could tell his feeling were hurt. I tried to find him during intermission, but too many people there. Years later, I saw David Cassidy sing in Utah. My daughter got to touch his hand when he was singing on stage and I got to when he was leaving. He was nice
Um, Shirley Partridge wasn't the "first working mother in television" lol...The tv show "Julia" starring Dianne Carroll came out in the last 60s and featured Carroll as a single (widowed) mother who worked as a nurse.
Thing is, I loved Keith Partridge in the first two seasons, when he was just a sweet guy in love with his guitar (and the target of Danny's evil schemes). Then, the last two seasons, he became this major himbo couch artist; it was like finding your favorite toy floating in the toilet. I still have problems watching those last season's episodes today.
@cowboy68 You know what a "bimbo" is, don't you? A male version of a bimbo would be a himbo. And a "couch artist" refers to the old-fashioned way of making out with your date on the sofa; and even then, couch artist is sometimes used in derogatory.
I thought Julia was the first liberated single mother.

Even before Dianne Carol, Lucille Ball played a single mother that worked.
