why don't we get 12 points anymore? Its so political! Its unfair, it shouldnt be allowed to happen! Its not our fault its our governments! Dont use that against us! (United Kingdom)
maybe neighbouring countries vote for each other because they share the same music tastes? i mean a norweigian artist would probably release their album in Sweden as well
of course people vote by which border they share, i would do, and so would everyone i know, i would give points to ireland everytime if i could be bothered to vote
The UK didn't do badly because of political voting. Do you honestly think there are millions of people who watch the contest and think "hmm. I think I'll vote for every country that shares a border with mine". Of course not. Would you do that yourself? I hope not :|. My opinion is that Norway gets lots of points from Sweden because there are many Norwegians living in Sweden. This is the same reason why Germany gives points to Turkey, Estonia to Latvia, the UK to Ireland, etc., etc., etc.
Okay, but there are still more Latvians in Estonia than...say...Germans, I would imagine, so Latvia gets more points from Estonia because there is a headstart (however slight), and a couple of hundred votes could easily make a difference in Estonia.
The ESC 2004 was watched by over 10 million people in the UK, and the UK was 3rd as far as how many televotes were registered, so I wouldn't say that one in seven Brits is "hardly anybody" who watched the contest.
The reason we have sent such bad songs in recent years is because we are given a bad choice. For 2006, 1 of the final songs was meant to be chosen by the public out of 10 "sold on song" songs, but of course the BBC was just lying about that.
the person who said, that british music tastes are bad, well all i have to say was that there was no good choice in the first place and the reson why lordi got the british vote, because they were rebelling against the usual steriotpye of eurovision candidates, even though they were extremly bad atleast they were different and rather comical, any way hardly anyong watches eurovision in britain so you can't sum up a whole nation's music choice by what they voted in eurovision
But I think the rest of Europe has very different tastes of music to the UK...But I think the Eurovisions more to do with politics nowadays anyway..no-one votes for us because they hate us lol
i would like to ask everyone in europe, are the musicians who are entered into eurovision, your best musicians in your country,or are they musicians that the whole country has never heard of and everyone thinks is really bad/ rubbish like in england where eurovision is seen as a joke and none of our good bands enter as they would be ambarassed.ie, colplay, robie williams, muse, kaiserchiefs, franz ferdinand, to name a few.
and i dont think that anyone can say whats the "best" musician :) there are candites, some see it as a joke, and some take it serious, and the people vote for them (some see it as a joke, some take it serious) ;D

I totally agree with you.
2003 we deserved to get 0 points but since then countries that have given us loads of points in the past havern't been just because of the wars.
It's just stupid...

God bless Fearne! Why handle the vote formally when Lordi are getting the votes? Her devil sign must have confused a few million though.

Well, For example, here in Estonia there is only a large group of Russians, the other nationalities are minor.
It's more about the same taste of music, why we give the points to neighbouring countries.
If the song is good, it gets points from everywhere:)
Btw, this year I voted for Daz :)
