@druid80lvl Yes there are but yet it's light years away from sounding authentic, because it's sterile and perfect stabile digital sound and/or unplesant digital distortion. Oh and I'm not dissing FL, I'm FL user from version 3 till now, but still nothing beats my analog delay & original spring reverb tank...
@aleaney He used a MCI 12 channel mixing board that was Tubby's from Treasure Isle. The reverb is a Fisher SpaceXpander spring reverb, the delay is a tape delay, probably roland space echo or an echoplex.
The man in the cap standing behind Prince Jammy at 1:34 is NOT Scientist. All you guy's posting this wrong information need your eyes checked out. That person is actually PUG CHEMIST or he's otherwise known as PUG the DUB CHEMIST. He was one of King Tubby's young pupils from the late 70s mixing pure Dub Plates for sounds systems and nothing else. He is the brother of another Tubby's enginner called PEEGO who was on board during the Tubby's digital era between 1985 to 89. This is FACT.
the smoking chalice brought in at the end must have been done for the film crew's benefit - Tubby forbade the smoking of anything in the studio, only Bunny Lee could have gotten away with allowing that to happen!
@blakbeltjonez Scientist dispels that rumor in the insert of his "Portraits" album; while Tubby did not smoke ganja himself, he did not ban it in his studio. As demonstrated here, the smoke in Tubby's studio could get so thick you could barely see!
The chalice was probably for the camera's benefit, but I've heard that it was commonplace to use it to celebrate a good recording.
@Czesio213 : Read above in the comments, all track names are there, bless. Johnny Clarke - Enter his gates and Prince Jammy - Jailhouse rock. You can find both tracks on albums by The Scientist as well.
Yooooo...This is truly classic. Love it man... the man bon the chalice...hahaha I wish I was born in them times for real. Thank you for posting, WOW!!!
Scientist was a teenager when he began to mix dubs and was the apprentice to King Tubby, Jammy and Lee, he is at 2:40 ( as confirmed to me by Bunny Lee himself ) I am quite sure it is Cedric Myton in the red vest
Thats incorrect the young man in the jumper is David Lee aka Sugar Lee he is one of Bunny son. Scientist was a studio engineer, however he was not in that picture
No that is not scientist at 1:35, scientist is seen at 2:40 - wearing the blue dungarees skanking alongside Bunny and the dread in the red vest who looks like Cedric Myton from the Congoes
Wicked video, pure legends. Bunny Lee is a top man, I met him a few times in my Brethren's legendary shop - Peckings Studio One, Askew Road London. Big up Chris, Duke & all the peckings regulars!!!
I saw Scientist in San Francisco when he was touring with U-Roy. He had the King Tubby engineer personality, setting up his own wires like a roadie. He tested his soundboard on the top 40 they play before concerts - groups like Barenaked Ladies were thrown into the echo chamber and sent to Mars.

No way was that filmed in 1977. The rhythms/production is late 1981/early 1982. This is when the Roots Radics were dominating.... '77 was the "steppers" style (Sly and Robbie aka Aggrovators).
