  • does the guy who does Scar's voice him on broadway too? because he sounds alot like him

  • @bunnygirl1002 No. This is the version found in the Movie's soundtrack. The Broadway version is quite different.

  • This isn't the broadway version

  • We're going to do Lion King at my school, and the choir is learning all the songs. Holy shit this song is fun to sing xD

  • Ooooh, Mufasa. Heehee! I adore this, I got to play it for a compilation show I was in :D

  • we'll have food! lots of food!

  • @Nynke21

Actually no. It was both of them. I would suggest you actually look up the song's entry on Wikipedia if you do not believe me. Irons' voice gave out during the song recording, so Cummings took over the second, and far more bombastic, half.

  • Sight.. No you right.. Hahaha i hear it know!!! Sorry:)

  • This is clearly Jeremy Irons.

He and John Vickery have very different voices...

  • this is definitely not the broadway version. one can clearly hear whoopi gooldberg as a hyena...fail.

  • @gags24601 Same actor. :)

  • @frenchtoast013

Impossible. Jeromy Irons doesn't actually sing the whole of this song. He starts off but halfway through, someone else takes over. The voices blend so seamlessly that it really is very hard to tell.

  • @Bushflare By wich part someone else takes over t he song>?:)

  • @dootjuuh1

I think it's around 'I know it sounds sordid, but you'll be rewarded.'

Fun fact! The singer doing the second half of the song also currently voices Winnie the pooh and Tigger. He was also the head guard in Aladdin.

  • @Bushflare Huh, that is still Jeromy Iron?? I thought is sing the hole song.. Is that part, someone else??

  • @Nynke21

No, that's about the point where the second actor takes over.

  • @Bushflare Wow!!! Who is it.. aah sorry my english is not verry good... :) Verry nice to read it is someone else.. I just hear Jeremy Iron.. There is a look a like in the world;) However i like it!!:D

  • @Bushflare but who is the second actor? hahaha

  • @Nynke21

Jim Cummings. Does his name ring a bell? Well it damn well should. He has played over 100 different voice roles and most of them you will remember if you saw them. Lion King, Little Mermaid, Sonic, Batman, CN:KND, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Laboratory, Gargoyles, Freakazoid, Winnie the Pooh, Goof Troop, Jackie Chan Adventures, Aladdin, The Mask, Tarzan, Tazmanian Devil, Captain Caveman, The Simpsons, Scooby Doo, Star Wars. Damn it he is EVERYWHERE! Look him up on wikipedia.

  • @Bushflare hahahahaha, DAMN i know Jim Cummings ofcourse!! Hahah pfieeuw;) But just his voice.. I just dont hear its him!!:) But know i know:) THANKS!! Hahaha

  • @Nynke21

He is very good, that's why.

  • @Bushflare That is what i talking about:P But know i know thanks to you!!!:) JIM CUMMINGS!!!!

  • @Nynke21 Still.. can't believe it hahaha

  • @Bushflare I think I hear it, it's so seamless

  • @Bushflare It happens when he says, PREPARE FOR THE COUP OF THE CENTURY

  • @Gredran

Ooh, I must practice my curtsey.

  • @Bushflare What?

  • @Gredran

You quoted Scar. So did I.

  • @Bushflare Oh i missed that, I was just saying where the voice change between Jeremy Irons and Jim Cummings was so i thought u were mocking me... though I did recognize the quote

  • @Gredran

I was preparing for the coup of the century.

  • @Bushflare Oh!

  • @Bushflare Yeah the other guys voice is deeper

  • @Bushflare Cummings. By the part "no one takes a sniff without me"

  • @frenchtoast013 hahaha AMAZING!! :DD

  • @frostmonke I know, I just noticed it when it started

  • This isn't from the movie, there aren't enough hyena voices when they all start singing to be from the movie.

  • Well, the Nazi HYenas are different voiced.

  • anybody know where i can see/ hear or whatever the version of scar played by Gareth Saxe? BEST SCAR EVER

  • @hjtzver Notice the hyena voices. COMPLETLY different than in the movie.

  • @hjtzver I definitely thought so haha xD thanks :)

  • this is such a good song! scars voice is so feirce!

  • i dont think scar is evil i just think he would do wat he would natrally do wich means hes desprit

  • @hjtzver

I have a question, Who is the original Broadway voice actor of Scar? Is it was John Vickery or Derek Smith? O.o

  • Nazi Hyenas! 2:19

  • @hjtzver Correction! It's Jeremy Iron for half of the song. For the other half, it is Jim Cummings.

  • Awesome villainous song!

  • But maybe... They've a GLIMMER of potential...

  • 4 people weren't prepared

  • this is so badass

  • @princessofdarkness29 I love Jeremy Irons he was awesome as Scar in the movie! The Lion King is an awesome movie and I love the stage adaptaion of the movie my mother and I have tickets to see The Lion King on tour for our second time I am very excited for my second time The Lion King is one of my favorite Broadway musicals and Disney films!

  • @origamipein18 yep :D

  • @m23562356 Ouch, he must have sensitive vocal chords.

  • @hjtzver

You're mostly correct, with the exception that this is actually Jim Cummings voice. Jeremy Irons threw out his voice while attempting to sing the line, "You won't get a sniff without me!"

    P.S. *Irons' not Iron's.

  • @TheChrisBacani Mhmm

  • @hjtzver From what i heard Jeremy irons voice broke at "you wont get a sniff out of me" and a voice actor named Jim Cummings did the rest of the song.

  • SCAR IS THE BEST >:D

  • NO KING NO KING LALALALALA LAA!

  • it sounds like da movie version cause of the kings heanyas

  • I thought The original voice actor died?

  • @Crominence Jeremy Irons is still alive.

  • Omg I thought i was listening to a recording from the movie! It's almost exactly spot on except for a few parts but wow! Amazing!

  • This is both the version used on Broadway, and the one recorded using the original Lion King (movie) cast. The original version of the song (in the film) had the prologue, but that idea was scrapped. However, a recording of the original version had already been made, and was used in the soundtrack. But the Broadway version also has the prologue. So this is the Broadway version, and it was recorded by the original cast of the Lion King.

  • Whether or not this is the Broadway version, it sure as hell ain't the movie version. Listen to the hyenas at the very end when they say "Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared." It's different.

What they probably did was take Irons' original voice recording and put it over the new chorus so they didn't have to make him sing it again.

However, I know for a fact that Jeremy Irons does not play Scar in the stage musical, so that's rather odd.

  • Yeah, this sounds extremely like the movie. Especially the hyenas.

  • Hey everyone, I'm playing Scar in the Lion King Musical soon. I'm preparing my song basing on the 2 versions, but which do you think is better? the movie or the musical? I need some help with this cause the movie's has a great voice and intention, but the musical's is more for the dramatic interpretation I think. I'm open to any suggestion!!

  • @RAFE189 i say the musical version. you want dramatic so you can show off your voice and acting skills. then when people hear you they'll all say, "wow he's wonderful! a great voice and great acting skills!" good luck in the play!!!

  • I went to go see this when it was in sydney! It wads awesome! My ballet teacher was in it!! :D

  • @Momentum139

what a coincidence! Those are pretty much my favorite Disney songs too!

  • My top 5 favorite Disney songs:

    1. Son Of Man (Tarzan).

    2. Strangers Like Me (Tarzan).

    3. Be Prepared (Lion King).

    4. I'll Make A Man Out Of You (Mulan).

    5. Hakuna Matata (Lion King).

  • This is sooooo impressive! His voice sounds JUST like the disney movie. Broadway actors r amazing!!!!! :-D This has got to b one of my most favorite musicals

  • This sounds so much like the movie version, especially the hyena's voices... (but DON'T worry, I believe that it is the broadway version). Will anyone hurt me if I say I like the other version (with the other actor that plays Scar, not up on their names) better? :/

This one is still great though, I listen to both versions equally. I bet it's just freaking AMAZING to actually see the musical.

  • @ilovegreenday10

  • LOVE IT!

    xxxx

  • this is truly an impressive composition. You can tell the classics from the newer disney stuff because you can listen to them when you're older and appreciate them on a whole other level.

  • I LOVE the sililoquy at the beginning!!!

  • @n3rdycow soliloquy...i mean

  • it is amazing!! almost identictal to Jermey Irons' version on the animated video - it sounds soo much like him, lol especially the "tip-toing nearer" and "tenacity scamming" etc etc

  • No king, no king la la la la la! :)

  • @blingblinglemon IDIOTS!!! THERE WILL BE A KING!!! heyuhh...but you said-I WILL BE KING...sticKKK with me and YOU'LL NEVERRRR GOO HUNGRY AGAIIIN!!!!

  • i wanna see this soo bad

  • You won't regret it. It is EPIC!!

  • This was my favorite "The Lion King" song as a child! (Well, it still is =) ) When I was three-years-old I knew all the lyrics and would walk around the house singing it as loud as I could!

  • I LOVED this on Broadway! I would give anything to see it again.

  • aw i loved that i wanna see it again

  • man when hunchback becomes broadway i think hellfire will outdo this although i like this

  • Hellfire is so epic

  • Crazy. I synced this version with the movie version and they are quite nearly identical. Which is awesome, but wow, I wasn't expecting it.

  • my dance school did the lion king...........i was ed :)

  • YEA ED ROOX DA WOELD!

  • actually the movie of the lion king is based in hamlet

  • This has to be the greatest villian Song EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I totally agree!

  • @dryspud well, this is the best soundtrack ever!!!

  • @dryspud

Which would be Claudius from Hamlet

    Lion King=Hamlet w/Lions and music

  • @Mayzinegrace the only similarities between the two are the really main themes that the bad guy is the king's brother who kills the king and thus takes his place, and the young prince eventually kills his uncle and retakes the throne. But the PLOTLINE of HOW these events occurs is COMPLETELY different.

  • @Mayzinegrace 1) in Hamlet we never know hamlet's father 2) simba's not a whiny ass bitch who just sits around like an emo kid 3) SPOILER they both die in Hamlet at the end. The characters themselves, their motives, their personalitiies are entirely different

  • Some tosser said that this ripped off the story of Hamlet and I thought "No stop thinking you know it all because you take little snipets! Idiot!" This is an amazing story and it deserves its credit to remain.

  • Have you Read Hamlet? The story is very Similiar

  • Yes but its not similar enough. :)

  • Similiar enough to say that it is

  • Actually, everyone dies at the end of Hamlet, it's a tragedy. If "The Lion King" resembles any of Shakespeare's plays, it's "Henry IV part I".

As for the so-called "plagiarism" some people go on about, they should all read Carl Jung's "Man And His Symbols".

  • yea like lion king 2 it has snippets of romeo and julettite but kovu doesnt die unlike romeo and julettie (kay i may be wrong but still)

  • Yeah probably lol :)

  • I was agreeing with your snippets thing not YES! you are wrong lol

  • I loved Lion King since a kid, now w/ broadway, I really wanna see it!

  • this was an amazing show!!! I saw it last night for the first time and it was my first broadway show and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!!

  • no its not, he never has this dialouge at the begining in the movie, and the words are different in both versions. trust me, i watched the film this morning for a school essay

  • Wow they do a great job sounding like the movie! I wanna see it on broadway sooooo bad!

  • The only problem I have with the Broadway Scar is that he's too quiet in certain spots where he's supposed to be loud and proclaiming. He gets stronger in the middle of the song, but the first couple of minutes are really rather quiet, like when he says "No you fools, we're going to kill him", the second half is supposed to be more emphasized (And yes, I've seen the Broadway production three times now, and I still love it all. Just putting out my opinion....all hail TLK!)

  • Wow.... this sounds almost exactly like the movie song :) Amazing job!

  • This IS from the Broadway Production.

um carlitos you obviously have no damn idea what you are talking about, think before you post -_-. The start and end of this song is not from the Motion picture and listening closely there are minor differences. I myself have seen the broadway production and this IS it, Jeremy Irons is just such a good actor and keeps to the original version very well.

  • i love this song. :]

  • cool

  • Actually, yes, temujin650 is right, this is the broadway version. I just watched it yesterday. The ending is different from the movie and so is the begining of the song. Listen carefully and you will hear the difference.

  • i loveed the show i saw it and was in front row it was amazing
