  • im looking at buying a 2002 2.4l

  • I have this jeep. 2006 SE silver, with an AEM intake, Jet stage 1 chip, cherry bomb muffler, 2.5 inch exhaust pipe for a 4.0, Screaming Demon coil, Live wires and a TB spacer. The Neon guys figured out their 2.0 can be made into a 2.4, so google neon 2.4 and read. They know how to mod this engine. Also with the 2.4 jeep, lighten is up as much as you can. I run without a back seat and no extra weight, with aluminum 16 lbs 15x7's with 235 duratracs.

  • @MunkieSands So many numbers !!! Is this offroading or math class ? LOL Just joking , sounds like a good lil rig .

  • @wewent10and0 You ment 4.0L I6? I kinda figured but then Faggy McFagerson tried to be smart and failed.

  • @wewent10and0 there is no 4 cylinder straight 6... there is a 4.0L I6

  • @staticmajor101 Actually there was, research before you talk smart ass.

  • @Bryanpowman Ok smart one. PROVE IT. I wanna see a 4 Cylinder Straight 6 motor.

  • @staticmajor101 wtf... wow think about it 2.4L 4 cylinder and 4.0L inline6 cylinders were the only engines offered in this generation. so are are you thinking about a straight 4 cylinder cause the have those engines in most cars. you really must know nothing about engines dont you.

  • @Bryanpowman As many mistakes that you have there it is hard for me to understand you. Get your moms ass out of your face and then try typing. If you would actually READ what he said, then what I said you might understand. He said "4cylinder straight 6" There is no such motor that is a 4 cylinder straight 6. I am aware there are just 4 cylinders and just 6 cylinders. MY JGC has a 4.0L I6. My Neon had a 2.4L 4 Cylinder. I know the difference. Do you? Do you understand? Can you read?

  • @staticmajor101 Are you like 9 years old or something... obviously not but you can have a 4 cylinder straight 6 it would not make sense, why don't you look it up or something... cause i could not give less of a crap.

  • @Bryanpowman I have looked it up. Show me one then. There isn't a 4 Cylinder motor with 6 Cylinders. I'm also old enough to type where people can understand what I say. You should try it sometime.

  • @staticmajor101 as i said i have always known THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 4 CYLINDER STRAIGHT 6... Think about it. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE...

  • @Bryanpowman You make no sense at all. Look at what I said the first time. You sir, are dumb.

  • @staticmajor101 F**k you if you would type better maybe everyone would understand...

  • @Bryanpowman LOL you mad? My typing is fine.

  • @staticmajor101 Ok let me restate that... your wording sucks.

  • @Bryanpowman How does my wording suck?

  • @staticmajor101 too me it just sounded like you said there is no 4 cylinder all together ok.

  • @Bryanpowman Alright then

  • See a misspelled word, it's not House's but Horse's, ran out of space anyways, wanted to comment a little more, thanks for this Video, show's what a little 4 can do, awesome, my Jeep is a TJ 98 2.5L , I have a 4" SkyJacker Single Flex, running 33's did my ring & pinion 3.56 and I have a full set of Lockers, love my rear locker it's a Powertrax Traction System, a Full Locker when your driving and disengage's around corners, works great, in front just installed a Truetrac. no Fourwheeling yet

  • Thats so Cool I have a little 4 in mine, tried some stupid modifications to get more House's, what a waste of money, tried the Chip, didn't do anything, maybe gave some faster get and go, no extra Horse Power, A Hotter Spark from a company I forget the name, just misfired my engine the only True Gains I've gotten was replacing my Stock Coolant Fan with a Electric one, that gave about 3-5 horses and a better Air Filter from AEM, called Brute Force and a new Radiator from Griffen,

  • Watching this makes me want to buy one, it looks stock, but is very capable.

  • Nice Jeep :)

  • what is it sitting on? tires wise?

  • wow dude..

  • nice video man!!

  • Are these pretty decent on gas? I'm bored with the tuner cars finally and want to go offroading with my buddies. I'd be going from a 2.8L GTI to the 2.5L Wrangler so it shouldn't be too much of a difference right?

  • hey there what size tires are those ? and is that a stock suspension. i just wanted to know because i have 225 75 15 but its time for new tires and i was thinking of going 245 75 15 on a stock suspension ? btw nice video

  • that is the exact jeep i want,

  • and, you have some great offroading skills, nice video mate

  • how are the 4cyl versions for power? are they goood? please reply

  • @TheUKTP

It depends an what you want to do with it. The 2.5l is a bit weak, 2.4l is better. Regearing is necessary with bigger tires.

The 2.4 has enough power for most off-road situations, but it doesn't come close to the power of a 4l I6.

  • @TheUKTP The 6 is great but the 4cyl are still awesome. If ya wanna hit a mud bog on 35s then you might like a 6 but as far as just normal trail ridin and crawlin the 4 bangers hang with everything else. 4cyl with 33s and a 5 speed manual and youve got yourself a great rig. Oh and it never hurts to have a winch, 6 or 4cyl.

  • @TheUKTP I own a 2.4 Liberty with Manual Transmission and there is nothing I can't do with it aside Pathfinder V6 and Liberty V6. For sure you have to beat the crap out of it sometime, but with good maintenance... Good plugs, syntec oil change your good to go anywhere just as much as the V6 version. And I do serious offroading let me tell you. You will need to run on the 3rd gear LOW for good accelaration in the Mud Hole. You composed with the less power. I'll post video this summer of it.

  • @TheUKTP i enjoy my 4 cyl for the smooth power its not choppy cuz of over horse power its a nice gradual pull but enough torq and power to get you any where perfect combination if ya ask me

  • @prostreet2 Well put . It is a nice driver for offroad .

  • Nice video! Where is this place at? What kind of tires are those?

  • nice video.. i got my a 99 tj 4cyl and its the greatest thing ever. im going to put some videos of it in a future

  • Great video! The incline at 3:15 is insane! Is this Jeep all stock besides the 2" boost you mentioned?

  • @mccaslin42

In most scenes besides the 2" boost and a disconnected sway-bar it is otherwise stock. In some others a front auto-locker is installed.

  • @vspili looks like your running 31x10.5 tires on there too. Are those the stock rims with spacers? Or did you get new rims with less back spacing?

  • @MooseTrooper30

Yes, the tires are 31x10.5 on the stock rims, without spacers. They fit just fine.

  • @vspili really?! they dont rub at all?

  • @MooseTrooper30

No rubbing at all. You might get some minor rubbing, but you can adjust the steering stops slightly to eliminate it.

  • Awesome video ! Just bought a 2005 tj 2.4 16v myself, gonna get it in a month.

You should try AudioSwap tho, i mute my speakers because the music is very aggressive.

  • I own a four cylinder YJ and was thinking about selling it for a six. Do you guys think this is worth the investment?

  • Hey man, this is such an awesome video, I was just wondering, is the suspension stock?

  • Almost stock, just a 2" budget boost (coil spacer lift).

  • @vspili Ah, sweet, it gets a pretty nice flex at times, gotta love Jeeps olllllllo

  • i owned a manual 4cyl and it was amazing now i have the inline 6 with my tj auto and it does have more torque

  • hell yeah man nice jeeping out there.... guys yes its true the 2.4 L do have more troque than the 4.0L dont get me wrong i've had two other jeeps with 4.0's and its a hell of a engine it just never quits and never dies no matter what you throw at it. However there is a down sidee besides the lower HP for the 2.4L it is mad hard to find replacement parts for it. Both upgraded and stock parts. Just found out there was only 2 replacement exaust manifolds in the US had to wait a week for a new one!

  • is it stock because i just got an 02 tj 4.0 automatic

  • I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN

    go jeep

  • Love the music! Very cool!

  • where is this place???

  • Greece.

  • Not bad for a 4 cylinder TJ. I could have gotten the older 2.5L for a song new at the dealership in 2003, but I wanted the the other AMC engine: the 4.0L six

Even though it's a TJ with a factory modified 2.4L Neon engine, it's still MUCH better than the new JK (JoKe/JunK) Wrangler that's sold now with a minivan motor. The best years for the TJ are from 2003-2006 & yours fall right in there, like the one I drive.

    ~*Awesome video!*~

  • agreed. JK's are an embarrassment. They tried to make them more luxurious defeating the purpose of a wrangler. Motors have no balls. People would be surprised to see how well the 4cyl in Tj's go. Light and torquey, strong, good on gas. Plus factory 4:10's are always nice :)

  • @MK4vDubbin hmmm no 4 cyl jeep came with factory 4.10's....4 cyls have 3.73 with a front D30 and a rear D35

  • @talus33

    good point. I stand corrected

  • @talus33 all 2.5 4 cyl.TJs with a manual transmission came with 4.10 gears D30/D35 this was the ONLY gear ratio available

  • @talus33 u are wrong the tech at the local 4x4 shop just told me yesterday my tj 4 banger automatic has 4.10s im sure he would know since all they do there is build jeeps for offroading here in colorado.

  • @slant6guy well that "minivan" engine pushes out more HP and torque than the 4.0, the only thing people argue is that the 4.0 delivers more power at lower RPMS...

    JK 3.8 v6

    *205 hp @ 5,200 rpm

    *Torque 240 lbs-ft @ 4,000 rpm

    4.0L I-6 242 cu in - 2000-2006

    * 190 hp @ 4,600 RPM

    * 235 ft/lbs @ 3,200 RPM

  • Awesome Jeep man, nice video. OlllllllO

  • Haha dude, you really oughta drive a four banger in a wrangler. I own one and its just fine for what I use it for. They are light and have great torque for trails.

  • Imbecile.

  • thats a diesel buddy

  • hey can two average sized people fit comfortably in the back seats? i want a jeep but im affraid itl be tight on storage and seating

  • Yes. in 6"2 200 and fit fine. That's with seats all the way back

  • the 4cyl jeep has more low end torque than the 6cyl and in the offroading world thats better

  • That's not true. The I6 has by far more torque from idle and up.

  • if you take an automatic 4.0 and a manuel 2.5 id take the 2.5 over the 4.0 and no it does have far more torque anyways

  • Manual vs Automatic is a totaly different issue. I prefer manual too. But the 4.0 has more than 50% more torque than the 2.5 in the entire powerband. Night and day difference.

  • ok my bad i miss read something but i know the 2.5 reaches its peak torque and horsepower before the 4.0

  • I have a 97 tj se 2.5l with a 2inch lift and 33's. It being a 5 speed helps but you can still do alot more with a 2.5 than what this video puts on. People thing you have to have the so called "BIG STRIGHT 6" but i go through and climb every thing they do. Having a 4cyl jeep is just being the underdog and when you do more than other vehicles , you know the staight six is not something you just have to have.

  • I never really wished to have a I6 in it. It has just enough power for the kind of wheeling I like to do, and huge difference in fuel consumption.

  • i just read your reply about fuel consumption,,how good ia your jeep on gas? im gonna get one in a couple months.thanks

  • 14l/100km average 80%highway+20%offroad.

  • @lchsgolfer Right the difference is made by the driving and the momentum. V6 are great, but serious Gas Guzzler in Jeep wich I can't afford. I had choice to do... keep a V6 on the Road or get I4 and go offroad :-) I own a Liberty 2.4 Manual trans and I love it. 1.5 foot of fresh snow, heavy mud etc. Bring it on. No need for a V6 for the occasionnal offroad, even if it's serious stuff. Just press harder on the pedal :-)

  • @lchsgolfer Yeah, my friend has the 2.5 on his rock rig. It's a '97 TJ. Thing will make it... but on 35's (he's even been regeared like me to 4.56:1 axle ratio), it drives on the road like a tractor. Slower than all hell up moderate hills and he burns a lot of clutch trying to do any moderate crawling. It'll get the job done. Definitely would be worth it to upgrade to the straight 6. Makes a world of difference to the driver. Goes from "I struggled up that hill" to "what hill?"

  • @lchsgolfer yup

  • my 2.4l jeep is a pos but i still fuck shit up with it. it is a fun little shit but holy hell no power at all.

  • man u baby that thing i have a 97 tj with the 2.5 and u cant even tell thats it is red have the time and u can fit 33 stock i did

  • wow, you must be a pro on jeeps

  • sweet jeep vids! I have a 4cyl wrangler too.

check out my channel for Jeep offroad vids!

  • which is better the 2.5 or 2.4?

  • They are completely different engines. The 2.5 has a bit more low end torque, but is weaker on mid and high rpms.

The 2.4 is 16v, so has no usable torque bellow 2000-2200rpm, but is much smoother and powerful at higher rpms and gets a bit better fuel mileage.

  • so the 2.5 is a better off road engine?

  • It's a matter of taste. I prefer the 2.4l.

  • I got a 2.5 w/ 31's and no lift (bad idea) and it's pretty hard to accelerate and gas mileage is a killer. I'm getting like 13 mpg and 16 max if i'm tapping it.

  • how do u like that aussie? what model is it? ive got a 2000 2.5 tj and im looking for a good LSD

  • If you have the cash, go for a selectable locker, like ARB, OX, etc.

Otherwise, the Aussie locker is a very good cheap alternative. The axle with the automatic locker is always locked, only the wheel that wants to spin faster than the other is unlocked.

If u put it in the front, in 2wd it is always free to unlock. You can't feel it's there, u only hear it clicking on turns. The drawback is that the locked axle slips sideways on off-camber slopes, but u can go further before having trouble.

  • Does your jeep have lockers in it? goes good. ONLY IN A JEEP OllllO

  • Stock springs with 2" spacer lift, stock shocks with extensions, disconnected swaybar and front Aussie locker.

  • mediarocker543 you are right. my tj is a slug on the highway, but awesome otherwise i think. =) check out my page and see where an F-250 with 33's and a lift couldnt go.

    Go Jeep 0|||||||0

  • Very cool videos! Have you refitted this Jeep with taller springs, or is this stock?

  • Stock springs with 2" spacers.

  • nice man.. and people sad our 4 cyl wranglers couldn't keep up with the other ones... have you gotten sttuck yet?

  • OF course i've gotten stuck. Off-road the 4cyl was plenty of power for most situations. You only wish you had two more cylinders to be able to have more fun in sand, deep mud or snow.

  • The 4 bangers arent limited on the trail. Just on the highway in my experience. I own one.

  • i have a four banger also. and my yj wont even pass 75. unless i'm driving downhill. lol.

  • Same here LOL

  • With the 2.4l I can go 75 - 85 on the highway, 75 is more confortable of course.

  • not to bad for be stock

  • very nice video!!!

  • I live in Greece.

The spacer lift is very good for up to 2" of lift. Beside the pacer lift, you will either need new longer shocks, or you will have to fabricate extensions for the existing stock length shocks. I have used custom made extensions on the stock shocks, to match the suspension travel with the shocks travel, with excelent results. As with any amount of lift, you will have to adjust the pinion angles.

  • pretty cool, where are you from? I live in arkansas there is alot of wheelin here but seems everyone is into CRAWLin, but I'd rather run the trails, and maybe a "little" mud. I run a stock sport tj with 31x10.50's. no lift. How do you like the spacer lift, I'm thinking about getting that.Let me know. het thanks for posting

  • Yeah, i am really impressed... Not with the music, but... Anyways, i was wondering if your jeep is stock ?

  • It is mostly stock, it had only a 2" spacer lift (100$), 31" wheels and what makes the biggest difference, the front sway-bar was disconnected for off-road and no rear sway-bar.

  • Not really broken, but I had to replace the front-axle factory sealed U-joints with aftermarket greasable ones, because they were almost gone after 2 years of hard use and water crossings.

  • Hey vspili, great video, its amazing what a stock tj with a four will do. With the wheeling that you commonly do have you broken anything on your Jeep yet?
