at the end of the movie the word kali is written in "baybayin" the filippino ancient script but it's spelled wrong
it's the spanish influenced "baybayin"
the traditional baybayin didn't have the 2. and the 4. symbol and no cross under the 1. one
correct it would be the 1. symbol without any signs under or above and the 3. one with a stroke above :-P

Doesn't mean it is not authentic, as we all know Kali-Arnis-Escrima are all very similar in some ways, it just means that everyone needs to stop with all this "where did it come from" and "it is the mother of all FMA" BS.
Just enjoy it for what it is - a truly Filipino American martial art.

um, arnis is what we call kali /eskrima
in the northern ph its known more as arnis or eskrima than "kali". Im pinoy and this art has been in my family for generations so im not just talkin out my ass. Personally I appreciate what pappy did on the video I thought it very honest and a good tribute to the art. Thanks Pappy if your reading this good job again on the film =)

Eskrima and Arnis are what the Spanish called the art. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish, I do not believe it was called Arnis or Eskrima or Istukada. It's good that men like Gaje are coming forward with the indigineous terminology.

You know... There is a message in the trailer.. The eskrimador who provides the voice over.. He's saying some very meaningful words.. "you will be a righteous man, you don't provoke anybody, you defend the helpless" I don't know about you guys... but those words really spoke to me. Maybe you should listen to what he says. You'll be a better man. Trust me.

yeah 1950! That's ancient alright! But you miss the point my friend.. The term "KALI" came into usage in the USA during the 1970's.
I know this may be rocket science to you, but I'm just pointing out that 'KALI' is in fact ian indigineous term according to our first publication.

Placido Yambao wrote about Kali as a form of Filipino Fighting in his book Mga Karungan Sa Larong Arnis in 1950.

Thanks for the discussion. There's never anything wrong w/debate. I am sure after watching KMTS you realized Gaje is only part of the whole project. I found it important to document the old masters, many of them are not w/ us any more. SO much to see and learn, so little time. This is but one island of many.

estoca, We did not invest hours of our life into this project to make money. We did this out of passion and love for eskrima.
If you have such a probelm with our film, then how about you make us a quality film dedicated to Filipino Martial Arts? Becasue obviously up until we showed up... I couldn't find one.
