  • "Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emporers. But today we kneel only to truth..."

    -Khalil Gibran

Can't think of a better way to wrap-up Tong's ending.

  • pretty hard to decide...

  • What was the official ending of the first deus ex in invisible war? Was there any? I don't want to play this shit IW, it's so bad... but still im curious. :P

  • @Vormav666 iw isnt that bad, and all three endings were combined. jc merged with helios, blew up everything, and joined the illuminati. it all makes sense when you play iw

  • Still the Helios ending seems like achieving what Bob page dreamt of Besides the system can never replace a human because its imperfect and I Believe the Illuminati to be the most consistent because I never found any ending to be pleasing my version of an ending would be that this consistency would eventually bring up a revolution which will wipe out all who opposes it That's why I chose the Illuminati

  • Who would have thought that a video game can foresee the future.

  • Just finished the game for the 1st time and went with the Illuminati ending. After seeing the other 2 endings I guess I made the right choice. Helios seems to have a much bigger grip on the world than the illuminati. I would gladly choose the anarchist ending IF it didnt involve sending civilization back to the dark ages which would be possible if they could just remove the censorship of the net without taking everything offline

  • @tugasnake I chose the Illuminati Ending because total freedom and total control is just wrong the Illuminati ending was the most consistent and for the people saying that the

Illuminati are snakes I know but thats what is politics about its all about being a hypocrite

  • I found the 1st ending to be the least damage

Helios worries me out and the dark age ending dosent seem right

  • @darkempro But it was like the first ending, just befor Page took over. The Illuminati ruled the world. Inside Illuminati I think there will always be men like him who try to rule alone. Helios looks to me like a better way. I would say, Daedalus was planed as a advisor for the Illuminati and Icarus was to execute Pages will. Helios is the product of both, to see what mankind need and to do what must be done. With JC he tried to become a better understanding of men themselv.

  • Well, as long as Helios isn't a slick ass mothafuckin' liar, or downloads porn, I find it to be the least evil.

At least it was cognizant enough to realize it needed to understand human emotion.

  • The Dark Age ending sounds like the worst: yeah, we "start over", but so what? We also lose a LOT of information and become ignorant in many ways again.

  • No one has the right to govern all the earth. I wouldn't trust myslf not to become corrupted with power if I became a god. With a New Dark Age, everyone would stand a chance.

  • the thing i like from Deus Ex is that the multiple endings doesn't rely on GOOD or BAD/EVIL endings, it depends on our perceptions & ideas, unlike any other RPGs out there.

  • If I would choose, I would like to live in the 3'rd ending.

  • Watching this after completing HR: unlucky Bob!

Also I wonder what happens to Megan Reed

  • tits

  • you forgot the secret 4th ending

    DANCE PARTY!!

  • I choosed to merge with Helios, ray kurzweil here we go!

  • I could be wrong and If I am please feel free to correct me, but I get the impression from the third ending (blowing up the area) that the emphasis of Tong is to have a world which is against globalization and focuses more on isolation and protectionism for the benefit of said cities rather than flat out anarchy like some are saying here.

  • This game truly deserves it's name Deus ex (machina) [=God out of the machine]

  • i remember there was a secret ending to this game, with jc dancing and stuff. Can someone tell me how to get it?

  • my vision is augmented

  • @TheDirector021 I tottally agree with deism as it would lead humanity to a galactic power real quick and easy and I'm sure that it would still allow for advancement in life like capitalism ...

  • @300pzl are you retarded? That would put an end to all the development of humanity for about a thousand years and screw all the research done by humanity over the course of whole fucking centuries ... IT'S THE WORST ENDING.

Robot merging ftw, the second choice is a win.

  • In Deus Ex Endings, it always seems, you have to chooes a way to loose ...

  • Icarus scared the crap out of me when playing this late at night when he started talking to my infolink the first time :D Helios aint as scary but he seems weird with all the "yes, yeees, yes" xD

  • @MrWarcraft1337 hahahahahah xD me too xD

  • "Developers are being controlled by Publishers... I never asked for this."

  • I keep watching the ending videos...

  • number 3 is a good choice in my opinion.

  • Of all the games I've played I felt this one was the one that explored government philosophy and its three choices.

1: Extreme government. That government should control everything (NOT dictatorship).

2: Deism. ONLY a God/higher being, should judge humans. Similar to dictatorship but a higher being.

3: Socialism/Anarchy. Power To The People.

The problem is noone can completely agree with any of these which is why few can completely be happy with the choice presented here.

  • All ending is weird. I choice to brow up Area 51.

  • long time since i played this, but i didnt like any off the endings, all seemed wrong in a way and they still do.

  • watching this in 2011??

  • @MrXwaYZ I finished the game the first time a few mins ago. :D

  • Comment removed

  • Watching this video reminds of why I love Deus Ex until when the endings played out. Jeez they were so short and provided a poor sense of closure with ending abruptly with a quote. Pissed me off until posted flame threads in DX fansites LOL!

Jensen's endings were short but I felt they had a more deeper meaning with him contemplating the choices he made and thus delivering a much more emotional impact.

  • It's great that no ending seems perfect. Every decision has good and bad parts. The Iluminaty changes everything to the good old times while disrupting humans freedom, Helios wants a perfect life for humanity while becoming an absolute and inevitable god and Tong wants the medieval, which wasn't a paradise but cruel and barbaric if we remind hostory, but also free from control by a global network.

  • Note, none of these endings are truly canon. Invisible War, more or less continued on a combination of all three.

Anyways, I got the Helios ending, which really scared me with the abrupt way it ended there, with total ambiguity. I won't go back to get the other endings, because I don't want to ruin my experience if that makes any sense...

  • This is such a hard decision! what is the best ending?! i would probly do the illuminati or joining helios but im still not sure.... Can any 1 gimme their opinion?

  • @120pichu There IS no "best ending." It's left deliberately ambiguous, just like how the choice in real life would be; no matter who lives, somebody WILL lose.

  • there are 4 endings... in the room to your left next to the three buttons there is a self destruct button, therefore another ending

  • @lopeztrevor2 Wrong game, chump.

  • @BIuejay nope, right game, i just beat it the day i first commented

  • @BIuejay its just the newer one lol

  • better to reign in hell than serve in heaven

  • @naruto67777 well phrased, ol' chap

  • So, my only optins is Helios or Dark Age, Dark Age es better, we can develop new technologies, as ever we did

  • this game bloody amazing not-so conspiracies stories are great, i definately think the prequel is better though

  • @naruto67777 I only have one thing to say. I suggest mentalhealth. org. uk/help-information/

  • @naruto67777 Also, your logical abilities seem like those of a kindergartener. How can I possibly be proven wrong when there is no argument? Are you trying to prove the validity of your opinion? In which case I must dissapoint you. I was merely making a pun. Your response to that is as socially retarded as thinking a 'your momma' joke is to be taken literally. I'm only doing you a service. The sooner you realize you're mentally handicapped the sooner you can be on your way to recovery!

  • @naruto67777 The term you're (mind the proper use of grammar) looking for is 'I'm a dipshit'. Apparently, you also think you posted an argument while, in fact, you only posted opinions. Mind the vague comments you made and the use of "I don't like". If you're that easily insulted I highly advise you to GTFO the internet as fast as your emotionally fragile ass can manage.

  • @naruto67777 Your name has naruto in it. Your opinion is invalid.

  • the running is gay

  • Best One: Helios

    Most Epic One: Dark Ages

HURR I WANNA RULE THE WORLD: Illuminati

  • I think the last ending is the greatest one, it's the only one where humanity gets to decide what happens from then on. Has the best cinematic too.

I like to pretend DE2 never happened and that the last ending is what happened.

  • @Coltaculuss

at the same time, with the third ending, a situation like the one that happened in the game is likely occur again.

  • Fuck human dominated world, it hasn't brought us anything but tyrany until now.

Let's see how Helios Denton does now.

  • @UNGLELK Did this little pencil-neck say our world sucked?!?!!

  • 1:52 i live after that :D

  • Comment removed

  • The Helios ending is the best, but the cinematic is the worst :(

  • Yea, Dark Age ending is the most epic.

  • love this game i always go stealth

  • I choose to listen to Helios because he seemed to be a really top notch fellow :3

  • @adpunk4445

Helios had me the moment he began explaining how inefficient human society is, correlating with own opinion on the matter. Even if it was only in a game, I loved the opportunity to change the world.

  • @adpunk4445 Yeah me too. He seemed eager to govern the world but to aknowledge their interests. A truly benevolent dictator :)

  • This game is indisputably the best game ever made. I've played it through numerous times and probably even spent more time discussing it with my friends. The story, the atmosphere, the characters, the music and all the little things to discover... Pure awesomeness! I don't mind the graphics. Graphics don't make a good game. Atmosphere, story and gameplay do!

"The man who was Thursday", which I of course read because of this game, is actually a damn fine book, too.

  • I have to admit I think the Helios ending is definitely the most atmospheric and climactic ending - the music, the dialogue and the way it ends...THAT'S an ending.

  • I completed this game 3 times and i am playing it from 5 and half years.I found all this-

1)I found 19 Augmentation Upgrade Canisters.

    2)Paul lives till the end.

    3)3 secret rooms.

    4)Jock's apartment.

5)Maggie Chow's fried ass by flamethrower.

I am just saying all this because there is no friend of mine who played this game.I cant tell to my parents because they aren't interested.Of course it goes without saying.

So i am just telling you all guys who love this epic game.

  • @JCDenton112788 post it on youtube dude

  • Dude, I only played the game once, which was this year, and I believe it to be one of the best video games ever!

  • @JCDenton112788 I just beat this game for the first time (yes, it's the greatest thing I've ever played) and I'm in the same situation.

  • @Hotcheese0 You will soon find this lame and spoiled excuse laughable if you just ignore it and play the game..even for nowaday standarts it still has enough good graphics. Games is about content not high-end graphics - because they are games not movie.

  • Deus Ex: Whoever wins, Bob Page loses.

  • @ultimatefinalboss1 Yeah, but page sucks, so it's all cool

  • @ultimatefinalboss1 Originally they had it planned that you could join him. That got cut though due to time constraints. The final game is only about 2/3rds of what they had planned.

Crazy to think what would have been with the extra third. Same with Human Revolution.

  • It's great that these endings have been put here in the right order. First (the Illuminati) ending is definitely the best, then the second best is Helios ending, and the worst ending, as it should be, is the last.

  • It's not great to be Bob Page at the end of this game...

  • This game is so awesome, they should remake it and make a movie of it! (with the 4th (hidden) ending xD lol)

  • Years Ago I rly loved the Graphics, now I have to say: F**K IS THAT BAD xDD

But I still love the Game today, it was AWESOME :3

  • @DiePinguinEnte Well these are pretty good considering the game was made in the late 90s and released in the early 2000...

  • I'm confused is this game made from the Unreal & Unreal Tournament series???

  • Everett sucks, I wish there was Bob Page ending

  • This game is absolutely incredible, and I played through it 3 times to see each ending, of course. But when i reached crunch time on my fourth playthrough, I literally turned my system off and haven't played it since.

    Why?

Because all 3 endings upset me. I literally can't honestly say that i personally know what would be the best decision and distribution of power if the world were actually in the state that it is in Deus Ex. The game is almost perfect, though.

  • @elderberry666 That's what makes it brilliant though. It makes you think about what might be the best option in that world.

  • @swordhunter12 oh yes, don't get me wrong the game is beautiful. i just feel bad whenever i make a decision hahaha

  • @elderberry666 thst id exactly the point of the game :3

  • @Ignuus66 i knoooooooooow i know haha, but it makes me so sad hahaha xx

  • @elderberry666 same here

  • I pretty much see those endings as how power is distributed, chosen by player.

Accumulate power to one person creating a being close to god, have an elite few who have access to changing people's lives (for good or bad) or give the power to the people letting them shape their own future?

None of these comes without a price and none is actually a "good" ending. It's up to the player to come to terms with what he chooses.

  • When you choose to blow everything up, you'll get one of the most epic endings I have ever seen in my life

  • this game was so fucking easy. but it is still good for a decade old game

  • You know, I think that these three cutscenes are the saddest moment in gaming. Why? Because they put an end to the best game of all time. It's inplausible that a geame better than Deus Ex 1 can be made. As good as it, yes. But better? Impossible.

    Long live Deus Ex!

  • This was honestly one of the best games I ever played

  • wtf with the ratings? do page, simmons and chow get to vote?

  • Today I beat Deus Ex and merged with Helios. I saw his views that he has a desire to create a perfect world but has no ambition. Tracer would lead an economic downfall by destroying global network although people can be free again, living in villages. Illuminati is pretty much where Everett keeps Lucius Debeers in a popsicle while him and JC form an unlimited government. But having a machine to understand human beings and creating balance, seemed the best way to go. Shodan+GLaDOS+Helios JC = Omg

  • @zoneisbetter

Play it and find out that graphics for this game does not matter! It owns hands down.

  • @kobolt4093

I guess I can understand; I mean, Deus Ex games are pretty big on story, right?

Thankfully, though, it does seem like they are putting forth the effort.

  • @kobolt4093

There was an issue of "PC Gamer" that had an article about Human Revolution. The guy who wrote it is a die-hard fan of Deus Ex, and he was blown away by what he saw of DE3. He said "this IS Deus Ex", and is actually urging people to compare it directly to the first game.

    That sounds promising :)

  • i hate those guys who say----- DAT GAME HAS TU STUPIT GRAFIX IMA GO PLAY MW2 WIT KUL GRAFIX AND STAF.

  • NOOOOoo JC....not the interwebz!!!

  • It's interesting with these endings - the Iluminati one nicely mirrors the intro, in extremely cool ways - Alex and Carter returning to unatco, a functional hospital, unlike the one in the intro, JC where WS stood etc. On the other hand, if you dug around area 51, chatted with morpheous etc., it seems like the Helios ending is a more natural conclusion to the story of JC 'the unplanned organism is a question asked by nature and answered by death, you are a different kind of question...

  • @tsujigiri15 It also fits with the title, God From The Machine. The merge can also be seen as a Christ allusion. JC (Jesus Christ) Denton gives up his being to guide Helios in creating a utopia. In a way, you could say he died for humanity's sins.

  • @cloak211 What an... impressive piece of insight! I love that you aren't over thinking it; that is all completely logical. I guess there's also the trinity thing - at the end the entity you become is comprised of you, Daedalus and Icarus (who are father and son); three parts, one whole. Never thought of it in a religious context before (it not being a major overt theme in the game). Clearly should have listened more in sunday school...

  • i think this is probably the best fps in existence ( in my opinion )

  • Does this mean Versalife is part of the illuminati?

  • "Know what? Only that the long night is over."

  • What "sins" did JC commit? I always wondered what Everett meant by that.

  • The quote from Kahlil Gibran, enough said.

Also nothing beats a real good "running away from a exploding environment" ending.

  • @hanchiman I hit F7 when I did that ending thinking I would have to run out of there by myself. I was disappointed that I couldn't but still liked the cuscene.

  • @TigerRifle1

Actually my first ever ending was the merging with helios, was a bit disappointed with it to be honest. Still prefer the exploding one.

  • My ending was the Helios one

  • the 2 people who dislike this video are bob page and walter simons!

  • @2ndOfTheSevenCircles

Or just hate the low quality

  • @TheosCS94 I wonder why? oh wait it was made in 2000 that's why lol

  • [Comment Removed By Illuminati]

  • What's the good and bad ending? And tell me what seconds they occur at

  • @TomTomDam there is no good or bad ending.there are just 3 different ending based on the choices you have done in the final chapter/stage---area 51

  • i am confused which of theese option did Jc choose in invisible war he merged with Helios and destroyed whole damn thing.

  • @kankuj23

As far as good storytelling goes, I'd advise to ignore Invisible War. As to which ending was "official", the developers were too afraid to pick one, so they made a mix: JC merged with Helios, then went underground, destroyed Area 51 (and thus killing Bob Page), which made the world fall back, but only a bit, quickly rebuilding all that fancy technology you see in IW.

So, basically it was just a giant cop-out.

  • @Headbiter but still there is a big Hole in that If Jc Blew that whole damn area 51, How did Alex D in his tank survive this explosion?

  • @kankuj23

Honestly, I don't even know if they bothered to explain it ingame. I never played it again since back then.

But one way or the other, it's certainly not the only plot-hole ^^

  • @kankuj23 The sequel follows the Helios ending.. So, nothing of value was lost.

  • @redkillroy The sequel actually uses elements from all three endings. In my opinion it wasn't the best decision. The sequel never came close to the original.

  • @kankuj23 It was explained in the second one (or retconned, can't remember if it was also mentioned in the first one): the tank was real, but the inside was a hologram. The 'real' Alex D was in another facility.

  • I got the Helios ending with the Voltaire quote lol.

  • Amusingly, all three endings happened. JC decided to merge with Helios and the Universal Constructors, becoming something like a physical god, but the reactor's overloaded on their own, killing page and disabling all communications, but letting the Illuminati begin to rebuild their power base in a world without communication, like they first did back in the 17th century.

JC couldn't stop it because the explosion wounded him, and he can't heal without the protagonists help in Invisible War.

  • Chose Tongs Way - Finallay people are free !

  • Bah I should've chose tracer tong's ending and blow the place up. I chose to merge with Helios.

  • This decision was difficult. I saw what Everett did to Lucius, and I never forgave him for that. He has already proven to use inhumane manipulation to stay in power, so why trust him? The last 2 ending brought up a argument: Which would survive, humans or machines? I chose to side with Tong because in the end, Helios would rely on humans to maintain his power, and people will always seek to overthrow him, in their minds. Just like in 1984, he can plant an idea, but it won't be a true belief.

  • The chosen ending by developers is the Helios one, Invisible War is based on this ending.

  • omg ps1 graphics, human revolution will be the complete opposite of that

  • @FFvsMidi WHOCARES ABOUT GRAPHICS!!! this si the game! best game. period

  • You can tell from the music, and tone of the voice overs, that the tracer tong ending, the "dark age" ending is the preferred one. Warren Spector did alot of research into the illuminati, and secret governments and the like and also recognized the inherent dangers of globalism. The idea of that much power in anyones hands is dangerous even if your intentions are good. there is bound to be someone who comes along to abuse it. tong was right, going back to smaller governments was the way to go.

  • @AgentExeider At the same time, no ending is truly "right". Shutting down the global network means other kinds of hardships in itself, as well as the fact that things will probably eventually go back to a similar state of the 20th century. All endings are nicely weighted for your ideologi really.

  • Every time I played I always chose to blow everything up. If it were me, I would rather rid the entire world of any chances of BS government taking over. It's just how I view it. The way how Helios and Morgan Everette thought and approached things didn't sit right with me, nor would I care for their points of view if I were there.

  • I <3 the music for this game.

  • I've played this at least 10 times now..truly amazing game.

  • The third one has the most merit. Reseting human history or allowing a regime only slightly different than Majestic 12 don't make sense. Using a machine designed to benefit humanity as best it can, combining it with a human to allow it to understand what humans want and need to be happy, and giving it the means to fufill those wants and needs, does make sense.

  • The 3rd ending was the best.

  • I choose the blow everything up. I'm happy with that because apparently Helios was too noob to not even be able to control a generator next door.

  • @TsuKing You're missing point. This weak spot is available or possible in game universe only if you choose not to side with Helios - while it seems illogical for real life it is logical for game universe.

  • @TsuKing hence why Helios needed a body

  • @TsuKing: How can an AI possibly control something that isn't even connected? It's not exactly wireless, you know.

  • @TsuKing

But he DE2 and the unofficial 3rd sequel are set in the normal future with techology and augmentations.

  • i merged with helios and icares but i wanted to blow up area 51 cuz the illuminati might be planning to decrease earth popularity by 6 billion

  • @LegendaryInfinity I don't think the Earth is too popular anyway. Not at this time anyway. Hence why aliens haven't made open contact yet.

  • Comment removed

  • Everett: "Do you really think they are ready for that? After everything you see? Everything you've done?"

    JC: "No...not yet..."

    EPIC

  • i chose to merge with icarus

  • yes, he is a result of his environment as much as I. there is no rights & wrongs morally technically. We each develop our unique set of those depending on the creating force: our environment. Therefor it can be argued that noone is accountable for anything they do. that doesnt mean we dont punish people to protect the majorities interests.

  • there is no 'should' there is what is. If the majority of people want him punished, and find a way to enforce that, then that is, what is.

  • Dark Age ending has the best music.

  • Judging by all the endings, it seems that the director wanted tong's ending to be the right one. reset and restart the whole world. I would have choosed that one to.

  • I like how this ending is a parallel of the introduction with JC and Everret replacing Simons and Page, even in the same spot under the invisible hand...

  • people dont realise theres four endings

  • Tracer Tong ending sucks NO internet sucks WTF is wrong with tracer tong

  • I love deus ex, but Bob Page isn't much of a villain name.

  • What if you chose the 'Silent Running' aug for the Dark Age ending?

  • Which ending does Invisible War assume?

I prefer the Helios ending. It's the realization of what Morpheus says earlier in the game.

  • @natevines It combines all of the endings together: J.C. joins Helios, destroys Area 51, and the Illuminati... well, still exist.

And yeah, Helios is my favorite ending too. But all of the endings are well made.
