Does anyone have the skit where Tough Eddie put bricks on Oscar's trash can? I know in that skit Oscar very grouchily told him to go away and Tough Eddie told him that he should've spoke politely and he told Oscar as soon as he delivers his bricks, he said that he'll be back with something to say. (I'm not sure what he came back to say. Since he's a tough guy with a loving heart I wonder if he came back to say sorry to Oscar). If anyone has this skit, it will be great if you can post it up.
It looks like Ernie was jealous from 3:23-3:24 that Bert got an ice cream cone and Ernie didn't. Ernie probably wanted Tough Eddie to buy him an ice cream cone too. (I guess Tough Eddie should've at least got Ernie an ice cream cone too just to be polite because it didn't look fair that he gave Bert an ice cream cone and not Ernie even though he didn't knock down Ernie's sand castle or do anything to offend him).
That's true that, Ernie did eat all of Bert's chocolate ice cream but, he was lucky that he got a chocolate ice cream cone from Oscar at the end. Even Oscar was nice (it was strange as a grouch he shared) to Ernie by swaping a chocolate ice cream cone for the plate of a banana with ice cubes and cold gravy.
Me too! I think Americans have great accents. I even think the Tough Eddie puppet was also used as the Muppet who wanted to borrow Bert's bowling ball.
I know it's technically impossible, but that was done so well that I'd swear you can actually see Bert turn pale, sweat, and bug out his eyes at various points in this sketch. That is masterful puppetry.
I wouldn't trust Eddie enough to eat the ice cream cone. They justmet him. He could've licked it or put somethig in it. I would gladly take the money he paid for the treat though. Great clip though. It teaches kids to resolve things peacefully, and even if you have an "image" of toughness, you can take responsibility for your wrongdoings and make amends.

There was a skit where Ernie ate up Bert's chocolate ice cream. So this kind of makes it up to Bert that he gets an ice cream cone and Ernie doesn't.

I guess it will teach Ernie about the time he ate Bert's chocolate ice cream.

Tough Eddie is more like Bad Bart, and Sinster Sam. They get tough in the begining, then they have a heart of gold.

I heard Richard Hunt once performed Tough Eddie in the 80s. I'm not surprised, since he and Jerry Nelson were best friends.
wiley207 4 years ago
I'm curious to know what sort of voice Hunt gave Tough Eddie. What do you say, folks?

Just when it looks like Tough Eddie's going to beat Bert up, he gives him an ice cream cone. Weird how that works.

There was also an episode where Oscar encountered this guy, which was somewhere around the 1971-72 season.
