This game fucking rocked all those years ago....ah childhood memories of 90's gaming at its finest...Dune 2000 was abit of a let down but.

I would really like this game, but I'm having some trouble with my harvesters ingame. Whenever they've finished their first harvesting run, they are forever stuck unresponsive to commands outside their refinery. How do I get them to work again?

Hmm.. This is really a great port. It does feel to me modern C&C.

I wish this had the Sega version graphics.

I kinda agree. You could see the evolution of the series in the Genesis version. I wish this had the context sensitive cursor mix from the genesis version and from C&C/C&C Gold/95. Also when a building is being placed in C&C and the genesis version of dune II, there would be red or green flashing diagonal lines. If this had more of that kind of flavor it would fit in PERFECTLY as a sort of Dune 2.5, or a "Dune II Gold"

Dune 2 was the game that took my gaming virginity, an act I still dont regret.

When will it be complete (the whole original Dune 2 experience playable) and when will it support 2560x1600 (I CANNOT EVEN EXPRESS HOW COOL THAT WOULD BE - MY 30" FULLY UTILISED). I love the simultaneous selecting of multiple units etc. Dune 2 sucked at that (it was VERY tedious to do everything manually and some battles were lost due to that).

@jakubkrcma The next version is able to detect resolutions and adjust the GUI accordingly. It has support up to 1920x1080 (since i don't have a bigger screen). I can add your resolution , no problem. I have no idea if it will crash though. I bet the entire map will fit on your screen :)

@fitzerg Demo 3.5 (and demo 4.0) do not have the death hand, nor fremen or a saboteur. The upcoming version 0.5 will have them.

i have dune 2000 and comparing to this its classic not bad but looks very old (its probably very old)

@MrDutchboy170 Well the gfx are from 1991 . Which are polished so they look good at 640x480 resolution. But there are plans to run the game in 800x600 , so the gfx look a bit more neat due the more pixels per inch :)

D2TM itself is almost 10 years old. But it is being worked on (see website).

Also, d2tm aims to resemble dune 2, not dune 2000. Dune 2000 is a remake of its own, but done the RA way (and in some opinions badly..)

I love it! I played Dune 2 last year and beat it but I hated selecting the units singularly and having a small unit cap. I can't wait to play this with my brother, we grew up playing this game.

@drackbolt Thx. I think the C&C interface is a matter of taste. Although I do have some ideas about a new interface. I just don't know if it suits D2TM (but who knows).

this game have next to nothing in common with the original Dune 2, surely it look and sound a bit like Dune 2 but the gameplay and control scream C&C and thus make this port a load of crap

@robertgeorg Its a shame you think of it that way. The controls look like C&C, but they also look like WCII. Judging from the controls a game is imo a bit shortsighted.

I'd say give it a try before you judge.

Then again, I bet you probably don't like any other C&C influenced game.

This was really great! I was happy to select whole groups of units C&C-style! =D

Though there was a thing that bothered me. The game starts to lag during the second mission. I've noticed that it lags even more as I build more structures and units. Then it comes to a point that the FPS goes down to a snail's pace. It does this during Skirmish, also. However, it might be my computer, but it's still annoying. =/

Other than that, I'm happy that you wrote this remake! =)

@CarpetolA Strange that you had fps drops. The game is cpu friendly, in a way that it has an ideal FPS to achieve. If it has more FPS than nescesary it gives the CPU some more slack and vice versa.

Perhaps you had a background process running?

What does the sand truck exactly do?

@ninjablooper I assume you mean the 'truck'where all the sand comes from behind? That is called the harvester. Basically the sand is the remainings after extracting spice from the sand/spice mixture.

Learned how to repair from this video...lol. Running Demo 4 right now. Need to ask, why can't you use the right CTRL key to make groups? Don't understand that - I thought most people created their groups by pressing the right CTRL and the # with their left hand.

This game is cool and all, great to play an old classic with full music and sound effects unlike the other Dune games Ive tried to download, - but there are a few things that could of made this mod a lot better. First off, unable to hit the "options" button in the game pissed me off.. Not being able to SAVE pissed me off!!! Thats the major flaw. Second.. Now come on, you quit the entire game by just hitting the "Esc" button? AT LEAST give me an "yes & no" option if I want to quit to the game.

Further, not being able to see the unit and structure display when you click on them was missed. So was the intro for the game. I didnt like the fact that he made it look bigger either, the old size was just perfect. Other than that its cool I guess. Being able to multi drag over units was enjoyable and higly missed in the old version. So annyoing to click one unit at the time and send them into battle.. Made the game more challenging I guess. The music was nice to. Brings back good memories. :)

You're right about the suggestions, it would make this game a lot better.

I am aware of the missing save/load option, also of the simple ESC=quit.

All I can say is watch the d2tm website, as the game will be updated from time to time (although i cannot promise how fast).

It is a cheat. Press TAB-F4. It was used to show how the game works. It would be a bit boring seeing me being slaughtered due my bad economy management ;)

To repair structures, hold the R key, and hold your mouse over a damaged structure. Click (left mouse button) and you will repair it.

Upgrading your factory (heavy/light) is easy, just click the corresponding icon next to the list of buildable units/structures.

Actually, just look at 7:28 - 7:35 to see how it is done. (it is not a heavy/light factory, but it is the same drill).
