I just picked up this set used myself,. The cymbals and heads it comes with aren't the best . I replaced my heads with Evans G2's .. and they ROCK .

Last I checked the imperialster comes with MCS cymbals.  I own these and they sound fantastic.

so everbody has a different set up

doing good man, a few things you might want to try

loosen up your grip a bit, and lower/level out your toms so you don't have to work to hit the heads at the right angle as to not dent them
