I waited in line for 2 hours to ride this, and when it was my turn, it just had to break down. I waited for another hour and a half to see if it would re open, but it never did. I finally left, but came back later as I saw it moving. I waited another hour before finally just leaving. I later found out that had I stayed in that line just 5 more minutes each time, I could've ridden it. I still have yet to ride it.

The Beast is hands down the best ride at KI. It's a tradition for myself, as well as others, to cap the night off with The Beast. A pitch black, jerk you around joy ride through the woods of Ohio. The helix at the end sells this ride. To all future riders, be sure to ride this at night before the park closes. It trully is an experience. Oh, and sit on the left side too, unless you want to be squashed. The helix flings everyone to the right

@13shifter well if you ever come I suggest riding this at night on Halloween Haunt. fog is in the woods, night lights, and you see a glimpse of the beast on the right side... plus the view of the park on Halloween Haunt is awesome. I go every year on weekends and they jack it up in Halloween Haunt. You won't regret it. Halloween Haunt is only on Fridays and Saturdays starts at 7 pm and ends at 1 am. I just rode this last Friday night I still love it.

@seekermaster5 Due to friction. The colder it is, the less friction, so it might pick up half a mile an hour here and there, but not too much. Unless, as I said when I responded to heythatsmeagain, they adjust the lift chain speeds or change the lube to allow less friction, which they probably don't.

@gp75motorsports i agree completly. but because of how complex a roller coaster works on its block system, they cant really chage the ride speed to much (many only 1 or 2 mph ) before the block system does work the way its supposed too. but u do make your point and i thank you for the conversation :)
When I worked on The Beast back in the early 1990's, we would do things called "night rides" where the mechanics would drop the brakes after the park closed and we would ride a few times. You can see the brakes in the shed and going down the second big hill... it didn't have fin brakes back then, though. With no brakes, it would hit speeds of about 80+ mph at certain parts of the ride. It was insane! It also beat the crap outta ya but man, it ROCKED!

They are correct. This is the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. And they are also correct that it will beat the hell out of you. Hold your head forward. My PDA got cracked during this ride. It will also likely give you a headache. But the last two tunnels should make it entirely worth it!!!!!!!!!!!
@TeamApparition Son of the Beast also used to be the only looping wooden coaster, but they removed the loop (which was actually made of metal) back in like 2006 I believe. Now they hardly even run it anymore.
You might want to note this, but The Beast isn't just the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. It's actually the longest roller coaster in North America!
seeing the diamondback from this monster on the second hill rocked. Man that is a good ride, but you get bumped around because they used to have trim brakes, but when i went they didnt have them! man you get a big headache and stuff, but its all worth it

seeing the diamondback from this monster on the second hill rocked. Man that is a good ride, but you get bumped around because they used to have trim brakes, but when i went they didnt have them! man you get a big headache and stuff, but its all worth it

Have you tried what I said to do? It makes it smooth... But Diamondback is smoother. =] Much more fun too... no straight pieces of track of bordem...
