  • when did the french ever kick ass jack?

read your history they do not rock they roll....

  • @Randy4herEra Napoleon? I mean he pretty much kicked a lot of ass, one defeat doesn't negate all he did. What about the French being the main military and naval force that fought in the american revolutionary war? Or the Marquis de Lafayette who negotiated this support? If it weren't for the french, the US independence would probably have never been. "They do not rock, they roll". The correct response is Voltaire's "A witty saying proves nothing". So they left 'Nam, we came in after. Yeah...

  • @jafabian37 Btw I'm not saying one defeat is all he had, just that everyone remembers Waterloo and thinks that means the french suck at war.

  • I just learned this song. It's one of those songs that makes you feel like a badass when you play it.

  • ”Under the Grey Lights" ^_^

  • Jack White:"This one is about streets your parents might used to live in, because I know most of ya are north of 8 mile now. And your parents might used to live in a street that they have no idea what the name of it was, and what it meant, and what is the history behind it. So welcome to it. Welcome to your family history and welcome to Mr. George Washington helping you out. Starting this country for ya, and now you have roads and potholes to complain about."

  • Ahhh... Dee-twah as the French say

Ah I would've loved to have seen them in a tiny venue like this

Actually would love to see them at all...

  • THIS IS ROCK N ROLL!!! ;D

  • hahaaaa this is great. this guy singing in different languages lol

  • candy cane children will rule the world...

  • @TheAKprogram Doesn't seem that different or weird.

  • These videos always make me wish I could have seen the Stripes back when they played in clubs and bars.

  • @swimmerfella I saw the Dead Weather in a tiny little place earlier this year - not the same, I know, but it's still Jack.

  • this is jacks "only french song"

  • So he's just naming streets that are in Detroit? Someone said that.

  • Yup. Believe me, I've been there, and the only things that are French in Detriot are the street names.

  • hes not wearing shorts its just the way the light is shinning on them

  • Isn't he wearing shorts in a picture for some single? with a bike and a racoon or something? ...maybe i imagined it...

  • The Denial Twist was the single, but he wasn't wearing shorts :^P

  • ? not really...

  • i dont know why, but this song is genious. just singing french sounding street names.

    jack is my hero

  • Thats weird how people are right in front of him.

  • If anyone's reading this... Old school White Stripes junkie willing to sell body for original XL Lafayette Blues 7"

  • how much?

  • He is just listing off all the french street names in Detroit.

  • think it's french... one of my fave songs by them....

  • Almost sounded like he was speaking japanese at 1:10.

  • haha id bet he was just makin it up as he goes

i love it when he improvises

  • it almost sounds like he's speaking french at 1:10.....oh wait.

  • jack can speak french? sweet

  • no he can't. he's just listing off all the french streets in detroit.

  • sorry didn't know but if he could he would be just as awesome! but street names, French names, still count as french to a mild degree. So they have at least 1 song in 3 languages impressive...

  • hes ranting in french at the end, with rouge le blanc, its red and white, which is all i can make out.its the same on the recorded version.

  • rouge and leblanc are both streets in Detroit, i cant make out what he is saying before that but i am sure they are street names too, Detroit has a ton of french street names

  • Lafayette is one of them I think.

  • he was speaking french

  • OMG. This is the absolute shit!!! <333333

  • Awesome, thanks a lot!

  • Awesome...thanks for posting this.

It's so great to see their earlier performances (before they 'blew up'), as they are the epitome of raw and informal.
