I agree hockey needs enforcers, that's how our stars are protected. Like no one hit Gretzky because he had protection. But there's a difference between protection and down right dirty plays. Stevens was the perfect enforcer and didn't cross the line. What Cormier did crossed the line by far.

I agree hockey needs enforcers, that's how our stars are protected. Like no one hit Gretzky because he had protection. But there's a difference between protection and down right dirty plays. Stevens was the perfect enforcer and didn't cross the line. What Cormier did crossed the line by far.

Cormier is lucky he's already been drafted by the Devils who are backing his reputation on this. It's sad that he's trying to appeal the suspension when the hit was so blatantly a head shot. He deserves to never play in the QMJHL again and doesn't deserve NHL status even though he'll be considered an enforcer now. Are we looking at the next Todd Bertuzzi?

i love hockey and love physicality of it but that is just uncalled for. It was so blatant and cheap and I'm glad he is suspended for the rest of the season. He's had some history with cheap shots and now he wants the league to make his suspension less severe. He says he feels bad but i doubt that. I'm pretty sure he wont be captain of anything for a long time.

@DickWolfInc.....Football is just a bunch of 5 second spurts w. guys getting concussions every play, basketball is just7 ft guys running arnd trying to show off, & to play baseball you can be 350lbs as long as you can hit a ball. Hockeys probly the only sport that you need to be athletic, coordinated, and smart, all other sports you can get by on 1 of those.

Je suis un citoyen de la ville de Sherbrooke et j'ai vue ce soir au nouvelle a TVA que vous songez a contestez la sentence a Mr. Cormier (le titre de monsieur est pas approprié dans son cas, je l'appellerais plutôt salaud, sauvage, dégueulasse et déséquilibré mental). Je comprend pas comment ont peut trouver cette suspension exagéré, vous avez pas de coeur, vous êtes malade, le geste de Cormier mérite encore bien plus qu'il a eu, il mérite la suspension a vie du hockey.

The Europeans have removed this behavior from their sport and their hockey is a great one to watch as it brings the skill back into the game. If I was the referee IN CHARGE I would have stopped the game until he left the ice and would have required him to return to the ice side players box in his street clothes before the end of that period. If he couldn't do that in time, he's gone for the season right there.
