  • This video is retarded. I think the word atheism is perfectly fine. The only ism is the jism on this video poster's non-chin. He suffers from jawless-ism and fisheye-ism...take me to your leader-ism and post retarded videos-ism.

  • He's right except for not taking the word apart as a--theism but as athe-ism.

  • atheism is communism

  • quite possibly one of the dumbest post made since spring started. if you are against atheism, then you are starting off on the wrong foot with your argument.

  • I was born in communism, I known the crimes of atheism.

  • that still does not justify your statement.

  • Its as if people like Dawkins, Hitches and Harris misrepresent atheism to specific ends under the illusion that their working towards progressive automous ends.

  • You claim to know "stalin being an atheist had nothing to do with what he did"

    Explain.

  • are you willing to admit, not being a basketweaver, had nothing to do with what he did?

    if not, explain.

  • Being a basketweaver is a job, it has no or little effect on morales and inless there is a dogma for basketweavers you are completely incompetent for mentioning that, as if its some sort of substantial comparison.

i thought better of your intelligence.

  • well i don't think highly of yours the difference is stalin was fucking insane get that???? He didn't do that shit for some higher atheist power or in accordance with any dogma how can you commit anything in the name of nonbelief?????????????

    please explain

  • sorry your reply was late to understate it, i no longer recall our conversation, and i can comfortably say i do not care to re read the previous statements. Stalin was far from insane, evil yes but insane no, i doubt any man who was not sane would come to power in any country. So re think your comment for personal gain, and keep your conclusion to yourself. Thanks for your time

    Peace

  • open your history books stalin suspected everyone of betraying him and controlled everyone around him to the point that he died because he was having a heart attack or choking i don't remember exactly but he couldn't speak to tell anyone to get him help so no one moved

the man was insane= mentally ill

he was paranoid and deluded and yes very evil but also insane/mentally ill

he didn't do what he did for dogma or some high held belief he did it because he was evil/insane/mentally fucked up

  • Ok i commented on this a long time ago get over it, its only youtube. Maybe i was wrong maybe i wasnt, being paranoid does not make one mentally ill by default. I never claimed he did what he did for any dogma so u can shove that point up ur ass. My orignal point was had he followed some religions he may not have done some of the things he done. Atheists readily blame wars on religion but never accept atheism contributing (not causing) wars as well. So what ever I DO NOT CARE DONE COMMENT BACK.

  • Stalin being an atheist had nothing to do with his creulty or w/e you said. Well kinda did, if he was a theist of sorts he may not have done "some" of the things he did. Not to say being a theist is the answer, but not being a theist did affect his judgement because it affected his beliefs, and acts are based on beliefs, or concepts of right and wrong and he had none, simply what he could get away with. Also you are in no liberated position to state what made Stalin....Stalin, i mean how'd u kno

  • you are hypocritical in your 2nd sentence and your last. somehow you are in a position to ascribe stalins behaviour with "not being a theist", but i am somehow not in that same position?

    explain.

  • I am not saying that my word is iron but both you and me claimed something about stalins behaviour, neither of us are in a position to state for definate what made stalin do as he did because we are not inside his mind. But you don't say it is possible, could have been etc. you state that being an atheist had nothing to do with it as a fact, when clearly it is not. A possability yes but not a fact. I did say he might not have done "some" of the things etc. I dont claim my word is fact.

  • agreed I hereby decree that I am athiestic.

How about a modified logical empricismist?

  • atheist= believe in science

  • Atheism in the original sense is the absence of theism. The bungling with science, rationalism and various political views is one of the causes why it's so unattractive to theists. By now the word is devalued and, dare i say, nearly worthless, but what it points at was one aspect (among many) of the natural, free man, the way he was born (obviously free to be nonsensical etc.)

  • Atheism must be more than the absence of theism, because it's definition relies on the exitence of theism. Without theism, you have no atheism and you are left with agnosticism.

So atheism is dialectic to theism, meaning they are in opposition to each other. It is not a nuetral stance as the poster of this video would have you believe.

  • You're absolutely right Spectre, it makes far more sense to see it that way, linguistically.

I take back my original statement.

  • Then shall we call it reasonism, would that suit you better?

  • Reasonism as opposed to what? People who make no sense?

I think before we start attaching isms to ourselves, we should first establish whether we have a valid argument or not. Otherwise the label itself holds no real meaning.

  • Well theism is clearly without sound rational footing, at least in so much as I have encountered.

As of yet I have experienced no rational argument that supports the conclusion of theistic philosophies concerning any specific religion and divine morality myths.

  • Then you have every right to dismiss it.

However, I would be cautious in saying that religion or any philosophy is completely false. There is truth in everything, no matter how obscure. Otherwise it would never have existed in the first place.

It's the interpretation of these truths that we may have disagreements.

  • Well religion and philosopy covers quite a bit of ground so yeah as a blanket statement you are right.

But any relgion that insists on anthropromophization of possible causal event that formed our universes existence as a postulate can be readily shot down as soon as they assign human like properties to said cause.

Or assert speculative qualities such as omnipotence, bevenolence, Jealousy, General concern for humanity.

Things like that can not simply be tacked onto a first cause argument.

  • I'm glad you believe in science. If you take it seriously, it will bring you to the conclusion that there is a God.

  • LMFAOOOOO ROFL AHHAHAHA good video but this guy looks like a frog LOOOOL sorry i can't stop LAUGHING DON"T MEAN TO BE AN ASS

  • You could have used homosexuals as an analogy, for they are hated, maligned, stigmatizing for what they're "supposed" to be and not for who they really are.

  • Sorry but homosexuals still have sex with each other and have relationships. so homosexuals and heterosexuals are like Muslims and Christians who have different beliefs but still pray have a dogmatic religious life and go to a place of worship. a better analogy from your point of view would be to align atheists with some one who abstains from having sex and relationships at all. as atheist don't pray don't go to a place of worship and don't have a religiously dogmatic life.

  • Of course! Homosexuals are sexual beings and hence, have sex! Homosexuality is not a belief, it's a natural state of being. It's like calling eye color, gender, or left-handedness a belief.

  • Of course homosexuality it is real but that is not why i originally commented to your post. You can't use homos nad hetros as an anology of this video. An Atheist is a non believer of religion. So to align this with sexuality a homosexual has sex so they are the same as some on who believes in religion but some one who abstains from sex and relationships would be like an atheist because they dont do what groups everyone together homo or hetero, like catholic or Muslim.

  • Atheist is something like a non-smoker or a non-stamp-collector, just an aphilatelist.

  • fakesagan, you copied it from capnawesome.

  • Love the stamp collecting analogy! Good vid.

  • "Stamp collectors" Ha. Great.

  • Atheism is probably not technically a misnomer as it is derived from "atheist" which comes from the greek "atheos" (Godless) From "a" without + "theos" gods. While it is, I guess, technically a misnomer when used to lump people into a group, it could (and probably should) be read "a" without + "theism" belief in god, in which case it wouldn't imply an -ism, but a lack of an -ism.

  • True say!

Personally, I believe We need to stop bashing the religious, because they are gonna start thinking they have the moral high ground if we keep beating their beliefs down relentlessly...

We should just live and let live, until WE are affected by religious ways...

Which I personally am not... YET!

Nice video mate you have a new subscriber

  • "until WE are affected by religious ways...

Which I personally am not... YET!"

    Oh but you are....:

    news(dot)bbc(dot)co(dot)uk/1/hi/education/4931684(dot)stm

Let's not forget Northern Ireland either, unless the protestants and catholics have managed to resolve their differences by the time this comment is posted.

  • Well I'm not... because I can do all the great creative things I want to do with my life, and religion can't stop me from doing that.

Or going out in the street and shouting "God is a ****"

  • "Well I'm not... because I can do all the great creative things I want to do with my life, and religion can't stop me from doing that."

In some states in the US, religion can stop you holding public office - that is, if you're not christian.

Religion also has caused the erosion of your civil liberties in the UK - This is religion's legacy, for are not Islamic terrorists muslims.

You are free to deny this is the case of course, but I'm just not sure how anyone could.

  • Well maybe they are doing such small things at a time, that no one can notice...

  • "such small things at a time, that no one can notice..."

Perhaps, but I noticed religious devotees making headline news in London, Madrid, and New York, not to mention Denmark, US/Italy (with RCC abuse settlements).

I'm not trying to be a smartarse - I'm honestly curious how religion's influence could be missed. Even the creationism/school story made it to where I am, and trust me, we don't care about anything except sport... :-|

  • I like your video, Religion is really a fools paradise

  • Nice video!

  • Buddhists arent atheists they are pantheists

  • you can follow the 4 noble truths, the 8fold path or nirvana without invoking anything supernatural. the only time the dogma turns spiritual is when discussing karma or rebirth. and still you don't need to believe in any dieties for that. you might say they're natural pantheists, but then their behaviour would be identical to an atheist's. one does not preclude the other necessarily.

  • Ya true..but or pandeists...if that term works for ya...but they belive more then the material world

  • Yes. Thank you atheists for more school and church shootings inspiring black trench coat snipers within our public schools. The philosophy of atheism has caused more misery to the innocent than any religion. Their doctrines have failed the next generation by infusing them with a sense worthlessness and meaninglessness necessary for violence, depression and suicidal tendencies.

  • ah, futility at its finest.

  • excellent, well spoken.

  • great vid!!

    5/5, subbed, etc.

  • a-fucking-greed

  • You have got to be one of the ugliest people on YouTube.

What are you, some kind of tri-racial monstrosity?

  • penta-racial monstrosity actually.

  • Out of curiosity, is there a specific race that you identify with the most? Or feel the most comfortable with?

Let me guess you're from California right?

There has to be some kind of historical irony to the fact that the state (California) which most effectvely pioneered the American Eugenics movement (and forcibly sterilized more people than Nazi Germany and Sweden) is now at the forefront of America's future race-mixed, multiculturalist society. A dubious heritage on both fronts I say!

  • not to be taken as a cop-out, i would call myself an american before anything else, no hyphenation necessary.

    yes californian.

ya nothing to do but lul, but might wanna check your numbers. nazi germany sterilized half a million people. i don't think america is responsible for more than 100k .. like it matters.

  • I agree, none of this matters. But history is important and we shouldn't continue to forget.

    - Sweden forcibly sterilized twice as many as Nazi Germany.

    - California sterilized around 60,000 Americans by itself.

    - 33 of the 50 American states had eugenics policies.

    - Much of Hitler's racial inspiration came from American scientists, environmentalists, and eugenicists.

    - In the Commonwealth of Virginia it was remarked (pre WWII) that, "The Germans are beating us at our own game [eugenics]"

  • skepticalmonist- what kind of thing is that to say to a person? What do U look like motherfucker? Maybe this guy is not your type, there are plenty of guys out there who may get you where you are trying to go. Fuck off!

  • Cristofer7,
