@neil1963creed Well for me Kim Wilde is the ultimate No.1, but the 80s was full of great females in a way there would never be again-& Kate was definitely one of those. Few were from the US (unsuprising for a country that gave us that Madogga slag-for riches, sex, attention & nowt else, but Pretenders, Debbie Harry, Bangles, Aimee Mann, Voice f The Beehive were great & Pat Benatar had her moments-as did Wilson Phillips. But I was wondering why her second album, Lionheart, wasn't well-received as much as The Kick Inside was? Was the music critics expecting the same type of style that The Kick Inside was. A totally unique and original artist like Kate is a rare thing indeed! She is an exceptional singer, composer and lyricist. She was only 20 at the time, and as some people have said, she 'came to the pop world fully hatched'. Note how she says the stage actor's too busy to make "The Sweeney" (a British TV police series of the time), because he's "hitting the vaseline", and then she taps her bum, if you didn't get that he was gay in the first place! How extremely daring! You gotta love her!

Also, the vaseline lens is exclusively, as far as I can remember, applied to actresses not actors. Yes, vaseline can soften the impact on many spots .... I don't want to flaunt a randy mind here, but the fact is that Kate has sung a number of songs with gay themes, especially on this album ('Lionheart').
